Cyassandra Frith: All around 5 Stars ⭐️We were a girls trip of 4 and the room offered PLENTY of space!! I’m an AC girl and the AC did NOT disappoint! The bathrooms were clean and décor was chic and functional. You get daily breakfast which was not only delicious but bought in suite daily and set up by the kind staff. I will definitely be back!!Pictures show views from the rooftop pool which is such a tranquil vibe!

Alissa Weinman: My friends and I stayed in a Deluxe room for 3 nights on the way back from Tayrona — to say we LOVED Casa Claver is to put it lightly. The hotel itself is so beautiful — from the plants in the lobby area to the downstairs pool to the incredible rooftop. We spent a good amount of time lounging on the rooftop pool taking in Cartagena, and also used it as a great hangout area before going out.The room itself was perfect for 3, but definitely could have fit 4 comfortably. The AC in the Cartagena heat was a godsend for us and the natural light made the room even better.As far as location, it was the perfect place to stay in the Walled City. It was a less than a ten minute walk to some of the must-sees in the area and a 13 minute walk to Getsemani.On top of everything, the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating to us as travelers. I’d definitely stay here again!

Alexandra Dékány: The good: The location is the absolute best. Everything—things to see/do, restaurants, shops—is within walking distance and it’s only about a 15 min drive from the airport (waking up at 6am and being able to wander around in the *empty* old city is priceless!). I want to give extra credit to the staff who are kind, helpful, attentive and they do their best! There are two pools—one inside and one on the rooftop. The rooftop area has a stunning view of the city. We got a standard double room on the first floor. Mini fridge in the room and closet to unpack clothes. Breakfast is included and it has to be ordered the day before for a specific time for the next morning. No buffet. Food is really delicious, the cooks are great.The not-so-good: there was no bottle water offered in the room, even though it would’ve been a nice touch and every other hotel offered it. WiFi barely works. The room looks right at the indoor pool and people obviously walk around there all the time which means zero privacy, unless you keep the roller shades down. For the same reason it’s not a quiet room either. There isn’t enough shelf space around the sink to keep toiletries there. Broken shower door—the water is spraying all over the bathroom floor.Walkability: Very walkable.

Aisha Batista: Stayed in Cartagena for 5 days.. We were hotel hopping to just get a feel for where we’d like to stay next time we come back to Colombia and this property was the best. The room was large, clean, and quiet. We had our own bathroom and our beds were both king sized. We had included breakfast delivered to our room which was also very delicious! We had the choice to choose from four different types of breakfasts, so so so nice. I really enjoyed the pool/rooftop. All it’s missing is a bar but overall the pool was so refreshing and perfect for the Cartagena heat. I am definitely coming back here. Also most importantly… there is so much nearby you can walk to.. I was going to stay at an Airbnb further away from the walled city but I’m glad I didn’t. I had friends who were staying there and they had to cab it everywhere because there was not many options close by. Everything was residential. I like being able to just walk outside and get some dinner options.I really loved this boutique hotel! Thanks for the amazing hospitality. I wish I would have stayed longer but the price went up like crazy after the 1st night so I went elsewhere… If you didn’t know, Cartagena is crazy busy in January due to holiday celebrations all month. So book accordingly and make sure you do your research or you won’t sleep at night por una chimba rumba. 😎🎉

Mary P: I think we got the smallest room in the entire hotel. Our room in way smaller than expected from the website. It’s on the 4th floor and very near the lovely pool which is really nice. The excellent breakfast is included and is absolutely amazing. They will even deliver it to your room balcony - which is necessary as there is no place to set it down inside your room. We ran into a few other minor issues: the door to the unit when closed still bangs in the wind and makes a loud knocking sound. We fixed that by filling the ice bucket with water to make it heavy and pushed it against the door to keep it in place. There’s not enough outlets for your phones so we had to unplug the clocks. There is NO ROOM whatsoever for toiletries in the bathroom. Most of my bath items are in my travel bags on the floor. The 2 bath towels are pretty scratchy. There were no hand towels. However, I would still recommend this place because of the views, the nice staff, the incredibly excellent breakfast, and the beautiful pool, and the fact that most of the rooms are larger than this one. If you want a larger room be sure you know what you are getting. The website indicated a very large king room with a large bathroom. This is not that. If you don’t mind such a small room, then this is just perfect.

Matthew Koch: Amazing boutique hotel in the Old City of Cartagena. From our arrival until check-out the staff were so friendly and helpful. Right away we were upgraded to a nicer room, which was honestly too big for two of us to fully take advantage of, but we really appreciated it. The entire property was very clean and we'll kept. The breakfast each morning was delicious and filling, with a range of options that you order the night before. The rooftop pool had a great view and you can't miss taking advantage of it. We were alsp lucky enough to watch the parade in front of the hotel. Special shout-out to the front desk staff for helping arrange laundry, volunteering to walk me to an ATM when I was having troubles finding one that was open, and arranging our long taxi ride to Tayrona National Park. If we make it back to Cartagena, we will 100% be staying here again.Rooms: Spacious, clean, and comfortableFood & drinks: Delicious breakfast each day with 5 or 6 different options that you order the night before. The time range that you could eat, either downstairs near the courtyard pool or in your room, was I believe 7-10am, so very accommodating.

It was close to everything such as entertainment, restaurants, souvenir shops, clubs, etc. The view was breathtaking, and dreamy. The rooms were clean and had all the amenities you need. I will definitely be coming back here again, I felt safe which was extremely important for me. The only downside was that the WiFi really wasn't the best, it kept going in and out. But, it made you enjoy the moment more since you weren't constantly occupied on your phone. I extremely recommend doing a boutique rather than a hotel, it made the experience more personal.

I am a light sleeper and noise is big problem with me especially with this Colombian culture. Btw we stay in one of the “quieter” room by the courtyard. We found a quieter hotel by other part of the town that we will go next time. I wouldn’t recommend this to any of my friend. Haha.Beside the noise with my warning aside, I can say they did their best to make our stay comfortable. Bed is made everyday. Water is everywhere whenever. Pool is deep and good enough. Towels for the beach. Spacious room for two.There are steps but during day time they will help you.Breakfast is okie. I love the fresh eggs and fruit. E eye thing else is okie. We went out for good coffee.

Music, people screaming, emergency alarms etc. We asked to change room since it’s impossible to sleep and the receptionist just told us that its not possible and we should just wait until 2:30am as this is the time the noise will stop. Ese día escogimos varias cosas del menú y luego nos cobraron un valor distinto que porque ya la carta no tenía esos precios pero que no la habían modificado en la página web, la solución fue darnos dos limonadas las cuales ni las tomamos porque estábamos súper llenos.La semana pasada escribí para agendar un masaje para un regalo y me compartieron desde Instagram una carta con unos precios, para agendar me pidieron los datos ya que se tenían que comunicar conmigo desde recepción, cuando me escribieron desde recepción, me mandaron una carta totalmente distinta, los precios con una variación de 40.000 pesos, les dije que esa no era la carta enviada en un principio y simplemente dijeron que ese era el precio y punto. Nisiquiera para asumir su error y dar una bebida de cortesía para no perder el cliente.Estoy segura que el administrador o gerente no está al tanto de esta situación, porque no creo que permita que algo así suceda.

Gini Standard-Sheader: This place definitely isn’t a 5 star hotel. It’s probably a 3 star property. The staff were nice and our room was ok but it had a weird damp smell to it and the bathroom was tired and felt dirty. We also got woken up at 4:30am by a very drunk guy blasting music for 2 hours.

Parviz Tehranfar: In general hotel was good, but they charged us 177,000 Peso extra and when we asked about it, the staff told us that it is tax. We paid the extra amount but one of our friend in group knows Spanish and discuss with them and they confirm it is not tax and it was insurance of our luggage which is optional and they added to our bill without our permission. Mateo Gomez: DO NOT STAY HERE ! Save yourself the frustration, time , and rudeness.Attention Diego M general manager I hope this review finds you . I would love to give your hotel a higher rating. If it wasn’t for such rude front desk staff, I would give your Hotel four out of five however We had such horrible experience checking in and it was all due to Jorge the front desk attendant and self proclaimed manager . So you get only 1 star. Jorge was so rude and not accommodating that it Made the entire stay a huge regret . I will explain the situation, we (my dad mom , gf and myself ) are visiting Cartagena for Easter , we are US citizens, we have lived in United States for over 35 years. We also happen to have dual citizenship in Columbia. Upon checking in Jorge explained that we would have to be charged as Colombian residents which means an additional tax would be added to the bill. We explained to him. We are not residents of Colombia, We live in the United States and we provided him our American passports and more to make our case. he was persistent in saying there’s nothing he could do and we will have to be charged extra tax. This is not true , he could’ve take used OUR US passports but he chose to be unhelpful and rude during the whole exchange. Additionally, We were traveling with my girlfriend who is a US born citizen. We requested/ stated she would be paying the bill and reservation to be under her name. Jorge refused to put the reservation under her name and he professed hotel /he could not waive the Colombian resident tax because there’s four of us and we have two rooms so it can’t be one reservation .. huh that doesn’t make sense at all ..right ? . We said if she is paying with her credit card for both rooms and she is a US resident and citizen , we don’t understand the complication with our request and why he can’t help. Jorge why did you choose to not accommodate us ? What do you have against colombian ex-patriots ???Jorge got his general manager on the phone, and we asked to speak to Diego the GM but Jorge ignored us and finished the call with out Putting us in touch with GM.At this point we already felt like we were treated rudely and didn’t even want to stay in the hotel but had little options sitting at check in with our bags. We told Jorge. if the hotel cannot honor and recognize that the tariff should not be charged because we have a US citizen who will be paying the bill then we will search for another hotel. Jorge essentially said, good luck, and did not waver whatsoever. We find this to be horrible customer service, he was rude throughout the whole process, and he said he is the top authority on the matter . He then called his boss, and while he was on the phone with his boss, we asked to speak to him, he ignored us, and did not give us the opportunity to speak to a Diego the GM. Upon reading past google reviews, we find that Jorge was rude to other customers as well to no surprise, please check the google reviews for months back from this review from somebody else that had a bad experience and names Jorge as the antagonist. We will never stay in this hotel again and it is because of Jorge. We will let everyone we know about a bad experience, and we will be posting reviews on every forum possible from Yelp to Google to Tripadvisor. .Solution, we stayed one night and checked into the hotel two blocks down.. and guess what , they didn’t charge the Colombian resident tax as we are not Colombian residents. Further more the one night we did stay , we could hear the entire hotel walls are so poorly insulated you could hear people talking . The tub had a leak fromBottom and flooded bathroom , thank god I didn’t trip and break my neck .Again Save yourself from rude staff and pick another place .Noteworthy details: Absolutely horrible front desk staff Jorge . Danielle Erdman: Title NO HOT water and horrible front desk staff . Abominable experience checking in.Recently had the wonderful opportunity to visit Colombia with my boyfriend and his family . I’ve had an incredible trip so far up up until the arrival at the Ananda hotel. Upon check in , The front desk manager Jorge was so rude to my boyfriends mother and myself , I absolutely couldn’t believe it. I don’t post reviews very often, but the experience was so horrible that I feel the need to warn other travelers and save them from booking this hotel. The hotel front desk manager if you can even call him that understands and speaks perfect English but when I asked to speak to his manager Diego that he was on the phone with he completely ignored me and ended his call abruptly with him. We ended up turning a thee night reservation into one night and booked a hotel few blocks away. Thank god because when I took a shower this morning, I come to find that not only is the hotel staff extremely rude, but the hotel does not have any hot water. No hot water in the bathtub and no hot water in the shower. Last night the only night that we stayed here my boyfriend attempted to take a bath and out from underneath the bath water was pouring out and essentially flooded the entire bathroom floor. and he couldn’t even take his bath because the water was cold this morning when I showered, I couldn’t even stay in the water for more than four minutes because it’s not lukewarm it’s not kind of cold. It was very cold. Almost as cold as Jorge’s heart was when we were checking in. Upon reading reviews on Google I found that Jorge has been a problem for other guests as well. The only positive experience we’ve had so far at this hotel was the breakfast service and food was good. But the bathroom experience was quite horrendous and as I previously mentioned, the check in procedure was extremely dissatisfied. As I mentioned above, I am not the reviewer, but I feel it is my duty to contribute to the community and help the hotel owners, as well as other future potential guests know about the shortcomings of this property and staff.Noteworthy details: $600 per night and no hot water and rude staff . Save yourself the bad experience and stay somewhere else . Jorge was the WORST

Alexander Tarrant: We booked a superior room for two nights. We were immediately unhappy with the room - the noise from outside the room was loud, there was no hot water, the toilet didn't flush and there was no natural light.We asked for another room and were told there weren't any available on the first night, but there would be on the second. So we never unpacked.The noise continued until late at night (12am) and we were woken by staff noise (cleaners and pool staff) around 6am. There was also construction noise the other side of the wall that was unbearable.We went to the front desk expecting to move rooms but were told there weren't any available. The staff felt detached from any empathy and we were treated as you'd might expect at a hostel. Totally unprofessional and a very low quality experience.Avoid if you're looking for a pleasant or luxurious holiday.

It can get noisy at night with outside music and rooms opening up to main areas but that’s to be expected. Hope to be back in the future!

Amaury BRIANCON: Very bad experience with the staff at the entrance who was very rude. Jorge in particular. Rest of the the staff was very nice though.We ordered water for the breakfast and they made us pay the bottle without telling us!! The gesture is incredible.Also they market a very nice rooftop with a pool. But it was in renovation and no one told us. They have another small pool but hard to use because everybody was packed there.Having issues happen but the way they communicated about them where very bad unfortunately.

I came with my partner to stay a week at the hotel... and I fell in love with the place and the facilities. We stayed at the hotel for a month, including two extensions of our stay. The hotel restaurant, and breakfast is chef level, nothing less. The reservations manager was able to give us an answer even when the place was full and provided exceptional service. The hotel is located close to the airport and you can easily reach the center of the old city. I will definitely return in the future. It is an extremely humid hotel, it has carpet in the corridors which makes the place smell musty, I am very doubtful about the maintenance of the air conditioners. After changing rooms 4 times I managed to sleep. I ended up with inhalers and antibiotics, all wrong.Food & drinks: The breakfast is good, the variety is good.

C Woods: Stayed here for 7 days. Rooms are big and comfy. Tile floors so bring your slippers. Bathrooms are nice size. Showers are great. They have nice products in the bathroom. They offer a nicebuffet breakfast in the restaurant but you can also get made to order breakfast. Lobby is nice to kick it and chill but depending on when you go, you might become a buffet for mosquitoes. There is a room next to the outdoor lobby area and it's comfy and a great place to hang out. The rooftop pool is amazing and the views from up there are phenomenal. Pool area is the perfect place to hang out and drink. Internet connection could be spotty at times but wasn't too bad. Front desk was very attentive to any of our needs. Staff was extremely accommodating. Nice hotel to stay at inside the Walled City.

ANJLI SHAH: My husband and I stayed at Bastion for 4 nights. It is definitely not a “luxury” hotel for following reasons- as soon as we were allocated a room we realised the air conditioning unit was not working. The workmen did come and sort this out.We then realised our sink was getting clogged up and the water was not draining. This caused a sewage smell in the bathroom. We did let the manager know about this and he assured us it would be dealt with whilst we were sight seeing. Nothing seemed to be sorted. After 2 nights of sleeping in this room and finally making a fuss at reception they did change our room as they said the sink problem could not be sorted. However the second room we were allocated had a broken toilet roll holder, broken tiles on the bathroom floor, the shower wasn't draining quick enough hence was overflowing, the room telephone wasn't working. We did complain to the manager but he didn't seem to be too bothered. The room was definitely not fit to be allocated to a guest.- Breakfast was mediocre for a 'luxury' hotel! There were insects (fruit flies) all over the fresh fruit and the staff didn't seem to be bothered by it.The hotel is in a good location, slightly away from all the hustle and bustle but yet close enough. However I would recommend other hotels in the vicinity which are probably cheaper but have better service and rooms.
