Beige Matthews: Everything about this hotel is absolutely lovely and gorgeous. The location is spectacular and the staff is the best I’ve experienced in a very long time. The grounds are perfect and having Alma as the in-house restaurant is an absolute treat. If you want the boutique feel, but with luxury - no questions asked, this is the place to stay.
Brittany Mitro: We had the most amazing stay at Casa San Agustin. We honestly could not recommend it enough. We were in Cartagena on our honeymoon and this was the perfect choice for us.The staff was wonderful from the moment we arrived. The doorman helped us on numerous occasions when we weren't sure where to go (e.g., when we needed to find an ATM, or find somewhere for lunch) and was always so friendly. The staff at breakfast were also amazing - it always started our day off well (plus the breakfast food was DELICIOUS). The spa staff were also lovely, and the Passion for Life spa treatment was such a good choice - relaxing and romantic!The hotel itself was BEAUTIFUL - the way they use the original architecture (and the old aqueduct!) and created luxury rooms and a beautiful pool area meant we felt like we got a full Cartagena experience. The little library room where they had tea and coffee everyday was a really nice touch as well.We also took the opportunity to spend a day at their private beach property Acasi, which was a great way to see the Rosario Islands and get some beach-time in a relaxed and private venue. We highly recommend doing this if you are looking to venture out that way!Lastly, the location of the hotel was perfect - right in the centre of the walled city, among a range of fantastic restaurants - it really was the perfect choice for us.
Alison Rooney: Just left the property after staying for a week. I booked with FHR. The hotel is beautiful. The design and focus on Colombian history was gorgeous. I loved walking through it to see all of the art and design elements.What worked:Nice room upgrade and I loved the space. Well designed with a Nespresso maker and water provided. Lots of space to relax and a two tvs. The housekeeping was excellent and the room was well cared for. Turn down service was very welcome.The security and front door was always visible and they welcome everyone on arrival. Each person I met was kind and genuinely engaged in their role at the hotel.Breakfast was plentiful and some choices came off better than others. Dinner at Alma was quite good and I would recommend it.What needs work:Prior to arrival, I sent no less than 10+ emails to book airport pick ups, tours and dinners. All the messages went unanswered. I called. No one picked up. I booked my own dinners.For the activities, I wasn’t successful at getting these booked. The staff promised to follow up. Never did.I did a walking tour one day.Other than that, I did my own thing.I spoke with Paola and with Gladys. For some reason, the feedback didn’t make Ny measurable difference.The spa service was good but the manager kept trying to upswell me.Would I stay again?Probably not. I loved Cartagena!

Megan Boling: My boyfriend and I booked a couples massage and it was absolutely incredible! We've both had massages from various places and agreed that this was the best massage we've ever had. The facility was beautiful and immaculate. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Ciaia, Yerenia, and Ludy were amazing and made the morning so special for us. We definitely plan on coming back and hope to be able to stay longer at this hidden gem!

Carolina Sanz: Food & drinks: The paella was more so rice with seafood but it was tasty. The service, however, was atrocious. When we asked for hot sauce and salt, the staff never brought it. Furthermore, they brought us our tab and we paid cash. Needless to say, I am still waiting to get back my change. Oh, and not once did they ask us if we wanted any cocktails while we were on the beach.Noteworthy details: The details could use more maintenance. The location is advertised as a boho-chic place, but instead it looks abandoned. From the minute we got off the boat, the staff asked us at what time we were leaving. We basically felt like we were being kicked out without having even sat down at our daybed. Also, it took us asking 5 times (and a whole hour) before we even got towels. Additionally, they stopped playing music and closed the bar 45 minutes before we were even leaving.

I asked about the dessert, and his response was, “Oh, do you still want it?”While we were there, nobody came to ask if we wanted something or bring a drinks menu.Super disappointed with the experience.
Erika Sanchez Sandoval: We had high expectations about this place, we paid for the pass to celebrate Father's Day, the staff was very attentive, the food was delicious, but the piece of beach that they have set aside for the hotel is too dirty! Unfortunate experience that when swimming you get garbage of all kinds including human waste and not exactly algae or corals. The plan is very cool but I had to call attention 3 times for them to go and clean the demarcated area of the sea and on no occasion did they go in to do it despite warning them that they will enter, they only cleaned what the sea left on the shore and I saw to several tourists entering to the end of the demarcated area and literally picking up the garbage and complaining about the same. The plan is expensive and the least one expects is that at least every hour they are cleaning the internal area of the sea. I do not recommend it because in the end we had to go to the pool and we paid to swim and enjoy a beach and sea free of unpleasant waste.

First they placed us on the top floor just below the pool where they organized a party that sounded as if we were in it. After complaining several times, they changed our room at 10 p.m. and gave us another one right next to the elevator.You can hear everything that happens in the hotel, the rooms are poorly soundproofed and you don't rest well.

We were also by the breakfast so it was loud outside our room during the day.The breakfast was not edible. It was outside and food had been sitting out in over 100 degree weather for hours.We also got room service one night and we couldn’t eat any of it because it was cold and uncooked.We checked out early because nothing went right at this hotel.

Louloute Playlists: Catastrophique ! Nous avions une chambre avec 2 fenêtres occultées : une qui donnait sur le patio avec la musique très très TRÈS forte. L’autre fenêtre donnait sur la cuisine extérieure, avec bruits de casseroles, d’évier et de gens qui parlent. Et derrière le mur qui n’avait pas de fenêtre se trouvait la machine à laver qui tourne toute la journée non stop… Mais quelle honte, comment peuvent-ils louer une chambre pareille ? Ils s’imaginent que proposer une piscine occulte tout le reste ? Le personnel n’en a rien à faire de la tranquillité des clients. Nous avons dû leur demander d’éteindre la musique à 23h30. Hôtel à éviter absolument !

Joe Kopeika: Staff was pleasant and friendly. Nobody truly speaks English but I could communicate. The rooms are a little disappointing. No balconies and zero view. My room faced a wall. Safe box was very scary. Not digital but a rusty box that I had to get a key and a lock...which was provided. I was very uncomfortable in the beginning but I adjusted and felt very safe there. AC was excellent and breakfast was just ok. There were insects all over the fruit and toaster. Juices tasted like water.Pool and bar area is very outdated but acceptable.I had a decent experience but would not return. It is not geared towards American standards but you do get a major culture shock if you're into that.Location was very good and the beach is by the pool but felt unsafe going because the literally harassing you when going outside pool gate. I'm glad I went but very happy to be home. I would not return.If you lose your room key which is a blank white card you will pay money but they won't necessarily give you a new key! Crazy!
