sam stringer: on a recent trip to colombia with friends, i visited the french restaurant Montmartre in Cartagena.the interior of the restaurant was quirky and had a chilled atmosphere.for starters I had hoped to try the french onion soup, but it was sadly out of stock. instead I ordered the duck empanadas which were decent.for mains I of course ordered the steak frites. this was one of my favourite dishes of my 2 week holiday in colombia. the steak and chips alone were sensational, but the creamy peppery sauce lifted it to a whole new level.we also polished off some lovely red wine.a must-visit for anyone after high quality dining experiences in Cartagena!

Lourdes Celestrin: I would have liked to write a good rating, but the reality is that we had higher expectations considering the place and the cost. The taste of most of the dishes did not impress us, neither did the quality of the wines. In addition, some of what I ate did not taste good, I was vomiting throughout the early morning and part of the next morning. The service was excellent and the place is very nice.

Unfortunately the food was not good. Causa de pollo it was smelly, like a little bit rotten. We returned it and the staff recognized that didnt smell good, neither tasted right. “ traditional peruvian ceviche” not good either. No sweet potato ( basic on a peruvian ceviche) no peruvian corn, no lettuce, white onion instead of red. Didnt look good. You can call that ceviche if you want , but not “ traditional peruvian ceviche””. The last dish it was a chaufa de mariscos. It was good overall. Good amount of seafood. Dont know why had mushrooms but it was ok. I am not trying to criticize without a reason. Peruvian food has a tradition and fame well earned and it is important to respect that. If you like real peruvian food i dont recommend this place. They have to pay more attention to details and respect the recipes.

Tuttavia non posso dire che il sapore sia esattamente quello degustato nel loro paese d’origine, sebbene le pietanze siano saporite e ben preparate. La location è molto suggestiva ed elegante. Prezzi turistici, quindi alti per la media locale.

We arrived at the place, three plastic chairs, not very fresh shrimp and very ordinary sauce. There were homeless people next door and the atmosphere did not feel good at all.For the same price the night before we ate a delicious one in the walled city in a very nice restaurant where the ceviche came fresh and presentable, prepared in front of us, not like in this place. It was by no means the best ceviche in Cartagena.
