We stayed here at the beginning of March and it was perfect. The included breakfast was nice, staff was nice, rooms were nice with a beautiful view and the views on the rooftop at night were beautiful.

No table in rooms to use a laptop, so you'll have to use a table in the lounge. Staff are very nice. No gym.Conveniently located near several restaurants and spas in Bocagrande. 2 minute walk to the beach.The experience was, overall, wonderful.Safety: Bocagrande is relatively safe and has a decent police presence.

Eduard Verbaarschot: Fine hotel to explore Cartagena! On arrival, I was warmly welcomed with a drink. The staff are very friendly. They also gave me a free upgrade.The room was very neat, clean and spacious. The room was on a busy road. I was not bothered by that.The hotel has a terrace on floor six with great views. You can use a very extensive breakfast buffet. You can also order lunch or dinner there. I had ordered lunch on arrival a ceasar salad but in all honesty I must say it was not tasty. I think the salad was also made at another location and I don't think they are set up for it.

Sheldon Roberts: Let me start off by saying I will absolutely come back to OZ hotel.I want to give 5 stars but there is literally only 1 thing that I’d like to see improved.The air conditioner in the room needs to be cleaned. Using it creates a musty odor in the air. I had to buy air freshener to fix it. Clean the air filters please.Otherwise, OZ is amazing. The staff are very accommodating and pleasant. They speak English. You are allowed to bring guests (1 at a time) and they take a copy of the ID. The breakfast was good and the rooms were clean. The hot water was a plus and I’m actually afraid of going anywhere else without hot water.

If you are traveling from Europe or from another country outside of Colombia.After reserving and paying for the stay in advance through Booking, with all taxes and charges included as it appears when making the reservation.They invented a VAT of 19%, demanding payment in order to access the reserved room.Even more serious is that after 15 days I still have not been able to receive the invoice for the stay plus the invented "VAT".A TRUE TOURIST TRAP, AVOID IT.Nearby there are other hotels such as the holiday INN where they act in a professional and transparent manner.

Krista Slade: I stayed at the Oz for five nights as I explored Cartagena after a work trip. The hotel was very clean, great location in terms of Bocagrande and the staff were very kind and helpful. At this price point, you are not getting ocean views or stellar facilities but it met all expectations and I liked the roof deck. It was clean, safe and convenient - would definitely recommend for budget-savvy travellers. Gracias!

Ana Gonzalez: We absolutely loved our stay here, and we would go back as the experience was great. The location is great! The costumer service is fantastic, everyone was so nice and helpful. Always giving us great advise, and recommendations for places to visit, and things to eat. They were all super attentive, and they have 24/7 front desk support.Location: The hotel is located inside the walled city, on the Centro Historico. Steps away from the Torre del Reloj. It's actually walking distance to everything, including Getsemani (at least it was for us, and we were there with my mother). You can find great restaurants, discos, icecream stores, shopping and pretty much anything around it. However, please be aware that with it's centric location you will also see and hear a lot of movement around it, so if you are a light sleeper, take notice. It did not affect us at all, as we are deep sleepers, so the centric location was great for us!The reception: When you get to the hotel, they welcome you with a complimentary drink, which was very delicious. The place feels as if you had stepped through a time portal, and went back to the colonial times. So cool. They offer free coffee, books that you can borrow, and some binders with recommended tours and attractions. The front desk ladies that were in when we first got there, were supper attentive, and made the check-in process a super easy experience.Room: We stayed in the room called La Republica, and it is a beautiful room. It has a balcony to the main street full of flowers, a living room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms.The bedroom on the main floor of the suite offers a little more privacy as it has a door, however, we believe this is the secondary room, as the bed is smaller than the king size bed that you can find on the second floor. The bathroom here is slightly bigger than the one found on the second floor, however, please keep in mind that they are on the smaller size. The AC can be set at a lower temperature here as well, as the room can be closed off and has it's own AC unit.To get to the second floor, you will need to use the spiral staircase. The bed on the second floor is huge, and you can find the hair dryer there as well. The bathroom is smaller than the one on the first floor. The AC for this room is shared with the rest of the unit, so it can get a little hotter than expected. It is still nowhere near as hot as it gets outside (yes, Cartagena is VERY hot).Note: Because there is a balcony to the main street, the suite can get loud at night, however it has extra wooden doors that you can close on top of the glass doors, and that will help with the noise.Extras: The hotel offers free breakfast. We ate the breakfast at the hotel everyday, as the food was delicious. Things to know, the juice comes from very interesting fruits, my husband loved them, but I was not into them. They mostly change the juice per day. The bowls with fruits were very good, the fruit served is very fresh.There's a small pool on the second floor, same floor as the room we were staying in. It's very cute, but it is small. The water stays pretty warm as the weather in Cartagena is super hot. I loved it.There's a jacuzzi on the rooftop, you need to ask the front desk before using it, but it's beautiful up there. However, you do need to go up a more difficult spiral staircase than the one in the room. It was an adventure for me, but my husband and my mother did not find it difficult.The bedroom has a small fridge with water, beers, sodas and cold wine. These cost extra, but they are there in case you need it. We found the prices to be ok, but you can still find better prices on supermarkets or drugstores.Overall, we loved the place, we loved the staff, and we would go back as it was an awesome experience.

A shout out to Karina who made everything excellent. We travel all over the world and are very experienced travelers and it doesn't get any better than this.Nearby activities: So many sights and shopping and restaurants within minutes of this location.Walkability: Best location in the walled city. Near everything.

Reb Yooper: Perfect hotel for experiencing Cartagena's Old City. The building is beautiful, historic, and well-maintained. Our second floor room was a two-level suite with the living area and bath on the lower level and a bedroom upstairs. Air conditioning is essential for any stay this time of year and ours worked perfectly. The entire hotel was immaculate which reflects well on the staff and management. Breakfast was a treat with tropical fruit and juices along with made-to-order eggs and sides. Despite its location in the heart of the Old City, the hotel was quiet at night with little street noise. All members of the staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. The Alfiz is the perfect representation of a "Boutique Hotel." Should we be lucky enough to return to Cartagena, we'll surely stay at the Alfiz.

Salvador Alvarez: A very nice boutique hotel.With very good attention from the staff.The rooms are very clean and beautiful.The relation price facilities very well.It is located exactly in the center and from there everything is within a few blocks.

Lin Jones: The hotel is in a beautiful old colonial era house with a lot of architectural details and antique furniture. It has a small pool (slightly bigger than a U.S. hot tub), and a courtyard. The room has high ceilings and simple furnishings. There are three rooms on the ground floors and maybe four or five rooms on the second floor. The rooms on the ground level facing the courtyard where the breakfast is also served. So it can be noisy in the morning and not for sleeping in. The room was newly painted a few days ago so it has the chemical paint odors. We ended up leaving the windows and door open to try to air it out. And the location is near major plazas, so I can hear the music from nearby venues. The breakfast is OK but I have far better breakfast at other Colombian hotels. I don’t think I will stay here again in the future.

My wife fell I’ll and the staff went out of their way, including making special chicken for her. It was beautiful with a balcony.Our other room on the first floor was still good but not spectacular like our family room.Breakfast is included and was delicious. Made to order eggs, yucca, arepa. Fresh fruits and bread before meal.Service is great! Everyone was super nice and very helpful. Any questions we had they answered. Manuel the first day was super helpful and welcoming. Laudy was also super helpful, nice and kind.The hotel is in a great area. Was able to walk to everything. What I liked most about it was the safety. They don't allow everyone to walk in. Peter Klenk: An excellent location, everything in the old city and surrounding area is an easy walk. A pleasant breakfast is provided, the pool is a small but refreshing place to cool off after a day of walking. ATM, good food, all located nearby. I suggest a room on the higher floors if you don’t mind stairs. The first floor is a bit loud in the morning as doors open into courtyard where breakfast is served. If you are an early bird, this is not a problem. Staff is great; friendly and helpful. Rooms are large and have very high ceilings. Bed was firm but soft. Shower in our room was a large cement tub that you have to step over, but no problem unless you have mobility issues. The bedding and towels are very clean but had a detergent smell that may affect you if you have allergies. The pillows are plentiful and soft. Maid service each day and they do a wonderful job. Plenty of outlets for your charging needs.
