Carmen Morawska: This is such a special hotel. The common areas are beautiful, and it has definitely kept its colonial charm whilst feeling very luxurious.The room was comfortable and well equipped. The only issue is we had a desk semi-blocking the door, so accessing the balcony wasn’t easy. It’s also worth noting that it’s quite noisy at night. Not the hotel’s fault as it’s coming from the street below, but for the rooms that face the road, maybe they could offer earplugs.The shower did not get very hot for very long and the old shower head means the water sort of splatters in weird directions, but it wasn’t terribly inconvenient.The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating.

Our room—#1– was lovely, quiet and peaceful with high ceilings and a large bathroom. The common areas are beautiful and stylish. The rooftop pool was perfect to relax at. But most importantly, the level of service was so good, we felt like we were staying at a private Villa. Every morning, fresh coffee with hot milk was waiting for us before our run. Breakfast, which is included, was delicious. See photos below. For the price, you cannot beat the level of service or room amenities. We highly recommend this 6 room hidden gem. Special shout out to the wonderful staff, including our food server, Dorian; Otto who greeted us in the am and Eduardo andClaudia, who helped make our stay memorable.

The front office staff are experts of the old town and have amazing recommendations for food and sights. They were extremely helpful in navigating transportation needs. 100% stay here if you are in Cartagena!!!For any event, I highly recommend Angie. She was detail oriented, responsive, and well-connected. She is personable and navigated any request, no matter how last-minute, with care, attention to detail, and grace. She made the entire wedding party feel at home and provided us with service that went above and beyond her role. She truly is an amazing person and fantastic at her job. We were lucky to work with her and would jump at any opportunity to work with her again if the opportunity would arise. Her customer experience skills are superb.We arrived a couple of hours before checking, she graciously provided a hospitality room for us to change our clothes. While we were out exploring the city, she had our luggage conveniently transported to our room and emailed me. I appreciate the level of service she provided!Rooms: We booked a suite and it was just what we needed; 2 rooms 1 master and 2nd room with 2 twin size beds. Balcony overlooking the water. The pullout couch was super convenient for our family of 5 and the room was spacious.Safety: One of the reasons we decided to stay at the Hyatt was for safety purposes. We have stayed at the Hyatt in other countries and felt extremely safe.I like the idea of having to take 2 sets of hotels to get tothe room. This provides a layer of security bc you gave to go to the main lobby to access the room elevator.Walkability: The hotel is conveniently located in Boca Grande, next to a mall with many shops and in front of a grocery store. It's a couple of mins away via Uber to the Walled City.Food & drinks: We had room service, the food was good and priced reasonably. The drinks by the pool were amazing. We ordered mojitos and they were great!

Luxury, spectacular, spacious rooms with an incredible view, intelligent climate inside the rooms that ensure a restful sleep, the food is delicious buffet and à la carte, there are several restaurants and a pool area for adults and families. Spectacular pool environment with dj that enlivens everything. The hotel is very large, very safe, the attention of all the staff is first class, luxury at all costs. I loved it, I will surely return to the hyatt chain. Highly recommended.

Jay Peralta: I had such an amazing stay at this Hyatt for a 6 day trip to Cartagena. The views are gorgeous, though it is such a shame the beach is being completely rebuilt so during our stay we just saw construction every day by the water. The service was exceptional and the restaurants were all great. All of the pools have a great view and are never too busy.

Jay Clemmey: The Sanctuary takes you through the history of San Pedro Claver who dedicated most of his life to evangelizing slaves in Cartagena during the 1600’s. He was canonized as a saint in 1888 by Pope Leo XIII.You can spend a good hour or so touring the church, garden, artwork, and the rooms where Claver lived and worked. Highly recommend a visit if you’re in Cartagena.

Alessio Astolfi: I had the chance to visit the Santuario de San Pedro Claver during a trip to Cartagena, Colombia, some ten years ago, and it was definitely an incredible experience. I am a person who has a great love for history and culture, therefore I was very taken aback by this sanctuary's significant past.In the centre of Cartagena's historic area, the Santuario de San Pedro Claver is a beautifully maintained Jesuit church and convent from the 17th century. It bears the name of Saint Peter Claver, a Jesuit priest of Spanish descent who dedicated his life to assisting slaves who were taken from Africa to Cartagena. The sanctuary provided these slaves with food, shelter, and medical attention while acting as a haven for them during a trying moment in history. It was a significant symbol of compassion and hope.The Santuario de San Pedro Claver's architecture is extremely stunning. The facade's exquisite detailing and elaborate designs are evidence of the architects' and artisans' expertise and craftsmanship. The sanctuary's interior is as breathtaking, featuring magnificent murals, pieces of art, and sculptures that depict Saint Peter Claver and his contributions to humankind.The opportunity to view Saint Peter Claver's relics, which are stored in a small room inside the sanctuary, was one of the pleasures of my trip. The saint's skull and bones are among the relics, which serve as a potent reminder of the sacrifices he made during his life and the influence he had on countless others.Overall, anyone with an interest in history, culture, or spirituality should definitely pay a visit to the Santuario de San Pedro Claver. Alison Rooney: Stopped by recently as it was highly recommended. It is very over priced and there wasn’t any service there whatsoever. Hardly anyone was in the store and they staff seemed preoccupied. I bought two small items and they were overpriced for what they were. Suggest other spots in Cartagena.

loveonblock: If I could give zero stars I would. We went with a large group, over 20 people, and hoped this would be a wonderful experience and sadly it was miserable. Though the courtyard is pretty and the roof is sunny, is was impossible to find staff to get food/drinks and the pool was not cleaned properly. To start off the street noise is unbearable and there seems to be a club across the street that goes late into the evening. Secondly, I stayed in the most expensive room and felt I was in a dark cave. Most of the windows did not open and there was zero light- all the rooms appear to be this way. Then my door broke and I was locked in my room for over 30 minutes and was told my included breakfast ended at 10am and I would have to hurry- I literally couldn't get out of my room. The towels and linens were stained and felt poorly washed. And to make things worse, when I went to check out I paid whatever they said I owed for a few drinks/food I consumed on property- then I did the math for the pesos they charged me and realized that a they wrongly charged me for bringing three female escorts to my room- which never happened- I don't even sleep with women. They had copies of their IDs, not mine, from the evening and told me I was lying. I had to speak to three different people to convince them that I was telling the truth. Had I not inquired about the mysterious charges I would have paid hundreds of dollars. They were not apologetic and did nothing to make these situations right. I would never stay here again.

From the furniture to the level of the shampoo. A very romantic and pleasant hotel for couples, a pleasant and well-kept pool, and a rooftop with an amazing view of the city.We want to come back to Cartagena again just for this hotel.

Estefany Parra Cardona: I think that a few years ago it could be called a 5-star hotel, but currently it is no longer. The photo of the pool is a lie, it's very small, so it's always full and apart from everything they close it at 8 pm. Very regular customer service, mostly from the people who serve breakfast and the bar located by the pool. philip lawrence: I rate this hotel a Minus 1. I am in Cartagena EVERY 2 months and decided to try the Almirante. WORST thing I could have done. We checked in, me and fiancée, both WITH passports. The day after checking in, the hotel security team rushed the elevator we were using to go to our room and asked my fiancée if she was registered in the hotel, what an embarrassment, other guests looking etc., like we had done something!! THEY ASKED HER THAT BECAUSE SHE IS A COLOMBIANA, SO, THEY, THE SECURITY TEAM, RACIALLY PROFILED HER!! I Spoke to the manager the following morning and demanded they make things right for the embarrassment they had caused us due their inept security team (my fiancée cried the whole night because of what happened with the security team !!) The manager agreed that the hotel was at fault, that the security team never should have done what they did and that they would 'comp' us our room charges for the stay to make things right!!The problem is, THEY DID IT, and they did it because it has been tolerated all along, that is my problem with the whole thing She (hotel manager) fully agreed that what happened NEVER should have happened so, they would make things right.Just today, about 10 days after our trip, I was making another reservation at this hotel (because the hotel manager had, I thought. handled everything professionally) when I received an email from the hotel manager saying that She would not honor the room comp but would adjust an overcharge of about $35 from our prior bill. When I asked WHY, SHE SAID that she Never Agreed to the room comp in our meeting in her office on the day in question (I have emails from her admitting their security teams fault!!!! ) Money is one thing but, lies / integrity are another!!I judge a company by their word which is their integrity and not by the cost of services more times than not. With that being said, I would NEVER recommend this property to anyone as, I do not trust them, totally mis-managed!!!! I stay at the Dan Cartagena ALL THE TIME and have NEVER had any problems of any kind, and the rooms are twice the size with Balcony's and the hotel is ON THE BEACH, no walking to the beach!! DO yourself a FAVOR and run as fast as you can AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL PROPERTY. ALSO, THIS IS ABOUT A 3 STAR PROPERTY, VERY DATED AND VERY SMALL ROOMS (AND WE HAD THE BEST ROOM THE HOTEL OFFERED!! )

erika samaniego: The rooms are beautiful. The pool looks so much bigger in the photos, in reality it was small and one family with kids can take all the space of it. However they have a lot of space to sit and sip some drinks at the rooftop. The staff was kind and helpful. We arrived very early and left late in the afternoon and were allowed to remain in the public areas of the hotel and they held our bags while we explored some more of the city.Rooms: Big and cozy, nice view from balcony and great showers.Nearby activities: So many good restaurants and bars within walking distance. C Woods: Stayed here for 7 days. Rooms are big and comfy. Tile floors so bring your slippers. Bathrooms are nice size. Showers are great. They have nice products in the bathroom. They offer a nicebuffet breakfast in the restaurant but you can also get made to order breakfast. Lobby is nice to kick it and chill but depending on when you go, you might become a buffet for mosquitoes. There is a room next to the outdoor lobby area and it's comfy and a great place to hang out. The rooftop pool is amazing and the views from up there are phenomenal. Pool area is the perfect place to hang out and drink. Internet connection could be spotty at times but wasn't too bad. Front desk was very attentive to any of our needs. Staff was extremely accommodating. Nice hotel to stay at inside the Walled City.

ANJLI SHAH: My husband and I stayed at Bastion for 4 nights. It is definitely not a “luxury” hotel for following reasons- as soon as we were allocated a room we realised the air conditioning unit was not working. The workmen did come and sort this out.We then realised our sink was getting clogged up and the water was not draining. This caused a sewage smell in the bathroom. We did let the manager know about this and he assured us it would be dealt with whilst we were sight seeing. Nothing seemed to be sorted. After 2 nights of sleeping in this room and finally making a fuss at reception they did change our room as they said the sink problem could not be sorted. However the second room we were allocated had a broken toilet roll holder, broken tiles on the bathroom floor, the shower wasn't draining quick enough hence was overflowing, the room telephone wasn't working. We did complain to the manager but he didn't seem to be too bothered. The room was definitely not fit to be allocated to a guest.- Breakfast was mediocre for a 'luxury' hotel! There were insects (fruit flies) all over the fresh fruit and the staff didn't seem to be bothered by it.The hotel is in a good location, slightly away from all the hustle and bustle but yet close enough. However I would recommend other hotels in the vicinity which are probably cheaper but have better service and rooms.
