Stephanie Vergara Rojas: Extraordinary! That is one word to define this beautiful hotel in the hearth of Cartagena. My first surprise was when I passed the lobby and I saw this beautiful garden with the top ceilings and the stairs that take you to the pools and dinning room. That was my first "wow". Then, I got to the room, very nice, a combination between historical house but luxury home. We were there for a special occasion, bachelorette party, so they had champagne waiting for us (Nice!). After that, it was very close to go to restaurants from there, everything was walking distance. We went to the bar next to it one night (La jugada) and the next night, to the one that was just across from there (Alquimico); both, great places, very nice people, nice drinks, music and sunroofs that we enjoyed a lot. The final touch was the last day, when we asked for special services for our girlfriend, and they managed to provide message sessions, pool day with open bar and DJ, everything for a very reasonable price. Will definitively go back here, recommended for people who comes for work, for romantic occasion, and even for meeting with friends.

Hanoi Morillo: Beautiful house and really well located. The service is somewhat slow and don't pay attention to basics like renewing towels in the rooms or proper hot water in the showers. If you go with a big group tho is good overall.

Brian Bonaparte: Great location and nice decor but my stay was punctuated by bad surprises. The room smelled of mold, the WiFi didn’t work (cell service also out of range, so zero connectivity), no hot water and only one towel, no bath mat or wash cloth. I checked out early and was not given a refund in spite of the obvious shortcomings.

Carmen Morawska: This is such a special hotel. The common areas are beautiful, and it has definitely kept its colonial charm whilst feeling very luxurious.The room was comfortable and well equipped. The only issue is we had a desk semi-blocking the door, so accessing the balcony wasn’t easy. It’s also worth noting that it’s quite noisy at night. Not the hotel’s fault as it’s coming from the street below, but for the rooms that face the road, maybe they could offer earplugs.The shower did not get very hot for very long and the old shower head means the water sort of splatters in weird directions, but it wasn’t terribly inconvenient.The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating.
Marc Jerome: My wife and I just returned from a three night stay at this wonderful boutique property. The stay was wonderful because both the property and the service were excellent. Our room—#1– was lovely, quiet and peaceful with high ceilings and a large bathroom. The common areas are beautiful and stylish. The rooftop pool was perfect to relax at. But most importantly, the level of service was so good, we felt like we were staying at a private Villa. Every morning, fresh coffee with hot milk was waiting for us before our run. Breakfast, which is included, was delicious. See photos below. For the price, you cannot beat the level of service or room amenities. We highly recommend this 6 room hidden gem. Everything on the breakfast menu is outstanding and the staff gladly made any slight alterations to meals to meet there needs of the pickiest of eaters. The front office staff are experts of the old town and have amazing recommendations for food and sights. They were extremely helpful in navigating transportation needs. 100% stay here if you are in Cartagena!!!For any event, I highly recommend Angie. She was detail oriented, responsive, and well-connected. She is personable and navigated any request, no matter how last-minute, with care, attention to detail, and grace. She made the entire wedding party feel at home and provided us with service that went above and beyond her role. She truly is an amazing person and fantastic at her job. We were lucky to work with her and would jump at any opportunity to work with her again if the opportunity would arise. Rebecca Marks: Casa De Alba Boutique deserves more than five stars! Elegant with old world charm that makes it a a perfect complement to the ambiance of the walled city. Perfectly located and easy access to what Cartagena has to offer. Rooms are exquisite and very comfortable. It was lovely to have both pools and a beautiful front deck to enjoy fabulous food and watch the city life below. The staff is superb and made our stay wonderful in every way! Special thanks to Jefferson; he went above and beyond to create a wonderful experience for us and secured bookings for us at several amazing restaurants that we were unable to do on our own! We will be back to visit Cartagena and our friends at Casa De Alba Boutique!

Angelica Lawrence: I had the time of my life! I absolutely loved my stay. My sister and I were treated like royalty. Carlos went above and beyond to make our stay memorable! He set up taxi arrangements, horse and carriage rides, dinner reservations, excursions, massages and more. The staff was so pleasant and thought. I loved the indoor pool and decor. Carlos greeted us everyday with a smile and new insights about Cartenga. All I can say is wow and thank you for making my birthday so special! The breakfast was so delicious and the hotel is so peaceful. It truly is the perfect getaway. I recommend casa de alba for 5 stars! The canopy beds were so royal and the views and location is perfect in the old city. Thank you so much Carlos for everything!

Janice Baldwin: This boutique hotel deserves even more than 5 stars! We rented the entire place for the 10 of us for one of my best friends 50th birthday! The food was amazing, the chef was wonderful. The staff was incredible ~ Carlos and Milton made sure everything was perfect. They kept us safe ~ and set up tour guides and reservations and even made sure we all made it back to the hotel safely. We laughed with them, and we hugged them. If you are ever in need of a wonderful place for a group or just a couple this place is perfect. We all fell in LOVE with Cartagena and we all want to go back already! ❤️❤️❤️
Miguel Acosta: THE BEST IS ITS PEOPLE.Excellent service from all its staff, reception, bar, kitchen, chambermaids... all very attentive and friendly, they strive to make you feel at home and help you in any way possible. The architecture is from an old house in excellent condition with a very warm and pleasant atmosphere, the rooms are pleasant and the bed is very comfortable to rest. It is inside the walled city close to everything. If we return to Cartagena we would stay here again.

Michele Cantelo: Since I can't reply to the hotels response, I'll set some details straight here:- The rate was $120 on our end, not sure what the $40 is, but $120 is very normal pricing for a nice hotel in Colombia. This can be confirmed through a simple Google search. I also have never felt the need to call hotels directly to confirm bookings when I have an email from a reputable company confirming it and have paid already. It's never been an issue before.- I absolutely wasn't screaming. I was too confused to even be angry in the moment. I have no idea where the "famous" traveler thing came from. This is completely fabricated and laughable.- They did not explain anything about not letting others in because a family was there. That's the main thing that I complain about in the review - the total lack of explanation and hospitality. From the moment they opened the door, they were unpleasant, even before knowing what we were there for or allowing us to speak. It wouldn't have cost them a thing for the staff member to be friendly.- We booked through Hotels.com, not Expedia. But, as I said, the mistake was seen across *all* websites, so it's not surprising the hotel has this detail confused.----We booked this hotel through Hotels.com and arrived yesterday only for their doorman to be extremely rude and not honor our reservation. They made a mistake in their pricing (across all websites - every website had this price, Booking, Trivago, etc.) and priced it lower than their actual rate. At the door, they were rude, didn't even apologize for their mistake, and acted as if *we"* had done something wrong. They didn't offer to let us into the lobby to correct the mistake (we could have paid the full price) or even just to have a place to sit while we found a new reservation.They just left us in the street with all of our bags and nowhere to go due their mistake (it couldn't have just been Hotels.com, as the price showed on EVERY website the same.) Even people on the street were shocked by how rude the man who worked there was.It's one thing for a logistical error to happen. It's another thing to have a total lack of hospitality, be totally rude, and leave people stranded. I've travelled 20+ countries and lived abroad for 4+ years and NEVER experienced this sort of thing.

Erick Cuellar: If I could give Casa de Alba more stars I would! Andres, Thomas, Baker, Hernan, and Antonio took the best care of us. The breakfast was delicious and prepared exactly at the time we asked. Baker made amazing drinks (ORDER THE PASSIONFRUIT MOJITO!) The rooms are spacious, super comfortable, and AC works well. Hernan helped us with transportation from and to the airport and our covid tests. At night Antonio served as our personal tour guide to get us around and ensure we didn't get lost. I didn't expect the level of attention my girlfriend and I received. We were sad to leave, but excited to plan another stay in the future with Casa de Alba. Thank you for an unforgettable time.

Ty Allred: I stayed here with friends over a long weekend and we each loved it. The entire hotel is super clean. The rooms are very unique and come with a solid A/C (essential in the humidity of Cartagena). The hotel has two pools which were great to cool off/hang out in at the end of the day. The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating to any request that arose. Breakfast in the second floor dining room each morning was fantastic.The location in central Old Town Cartagena also meant that all bars/restaurants were within walking distance.I would 100% stay here again.

Casa de Alba is this gorgeous boutique hotel built in a historic house right in front of the cathedral in the old walled city.Location is unbeatable: You're walking distance from the best restaurants, clubs, cafés, and tourist spots in the old city.Class & décor: the owners have hand-picked everything you see in the hotel. the furniture, the art, the marble finishes... everything is tastefully chosen, and the collective impact is quite striking.The staff: the idea is that you will feel at home. The staff is professional and kind, and they add a lovely touch of human warmth to the experience.Food & drinks: top, top, top. You're welcomed with the best mojito (apparently the original recipe can be traced back to this house, which used to belong to Sir Francis Drake!). The in-house mixologist is a master, truly. And the meals were all delicious.Air conditioning! Don't take it for granted in the old city. And here you might actually freeze if you don't adjust it :)Do yourself a favor, and get this unique experience when in Cartagena!

Chel NYC: I had a terrible time staying at this hotel. The service was awful and the owner of the hotel had nothing but rebuttals for all of the complaints I had. I stayed there for a week with no hot water to shower with, the gym was closed the entire stay, staff wouldn't provide me with fresh towels, instead they'd hang up dirty towels to dry, and someone took three days to open our balcony door (you need a key to unlock it which only staff is allowed to do). It's 25 mins away from the city where you can find great restaurants, clubs, and bars. It's not worth the price & I highly recommend staying within the city so you don't have to spend money taking Ubers/Taxis back and forth (even though it was cheap). The food was very eh as well. Andrés Giraldo: It is too expensive a price for the benefits, I am Colombian and I wanted to give an all-inclusive a try after having been to Cancun and Punta Cana in all-inclusive hotels. I think they fall very short in all-inclusive service. The room is good but the air conditioning is noisy. On the other hand, when you go out to the beach, be prepared not to find a place to sit and if you ask for help, someone will say that they cannot accommodate a chair for you because they are for the people of the Plus service. lines of up to half an hour for a drink, they only give you coffees and they charge you for a cappuccino or pastries and on the other hand the pool is too small for the number of people who arrive there, and the food is a total disappointment, there is too much variety missing, only coke and water, and there is a lot of protein missing, and worst of all, the late checkout takes your handcuffs off and tells you that you can stay until 6pm but no one tells you that you can't drink anything from the bar, so get ready to go thirsty for the rest of the afternoon... even in the Decameron Baru here in Colombia they give you drinks and food in the additional time... in short, very expensive for what you received and the service leaves much to be desired in Cancun I have paid much less and received more than double in benefits

Just a shot of vodka or rum will cost 80,000 pesos (~$19 US dollars), which is close to 2x other high end restaurants in the old city.Despite the fabulous view we were shocked by the prices of the cocktails, which spoiled our visit.

But …. 2 very anoying points:1. the music was terrible, loud american pop music. We asked to change the music and they were clueless…. Saying it was the hotel radio. The music is so important for the ambiance, the full city is about salsa and good vibe, I can’t believe they don’t have better music than that to create a vibe.2. The service! We ordered 2 Dry Martini from the menu. The waiter said they can’t do them, they are out of gin. We asked then to replace by vodka. It got extremely complicated. And at the end, they charged double the price, saying they had to charge a shot of vodka (?) to replace the gin in the martini.. we argued, but the manager was rude and not client friendly. A big zero for the service.Unfortunately, although the view is amazing, go for some pictures and get your drinks somewhere else nicer !

erika samaniego: The rooms are beautiful. The pool looks so much bigger in the photos, in reality it was small and one family with kids can take all the space of it. However they have a lot of space to sit and sip some drinks at the rooftop. The staff was kind and helpful. C Woods: Stayed here for 7 days. Rooms are big and comfy. Tile floors so bring your slippers. Bathrooms are nice size. Showers are great. They have nice products in the bathroom. They offer a nicebuffet breakfast in the restaurant but you can also get made to order breakfast. Lobby is nice to kick it and chill but depending on when you go, you might become a buffet for mosquitoes. There is a room next to the outdoor lobby area and it's comfy and a great place to hang out. The rooftop pool is amazing and the views from up there are phenomenal. Pool area is the perfect place to hang out and drink. Internet connection could be spotty at times but wasn't too bad. Front desk was very attentive to any of our needs. Staff was extremely accommodating. Nice hotel to stay at inside the Walled City.

ANJLI SHAH: My husband and I stayed at Bastion for 4 nights. It is definitely not a “luxury” hotel for following reasons- as soon as we were allocated a room we realised the air conditioning unit was not working. The workmen did come and sort this out.We then realised our sink was getting clogged up and the water was not draining. This caused a sewage smell in the bathroom. We did let the manager know about this and he assured us it would be dealt with whilst we were sight seeing. Nothing seemed to be sorted. After 2 nights of sleeping in this room and finally making a fuss at reception they did change our room as they said the sink problem could not be sorted. However the second room we were allocated had a broken toilet roll holder, broken tiles on the bathroom floor, the shower wasn't draining quick enough hence was overflowing, the room telephone wasn't working. We did complain to the manager but he didn't seem to be too bothered. The room was definitely not fit to be allocated to a guest.- Breakfast was mediocre for a 'luxury' hotel! There were insects (fruit flies) all over the fresh fruit and the staff didn't seem to be bothered by it.The hotel is in a good location, slightly away from all the hustle and bustle but yet close enough. However I would recommend other hotels in the vicinity which are probably cheaper but have better service and rooms.
