Cees Crumb: I spent three weeks here, (one of them I stayed with a family) and have really enjoyed myself. Teachers and facilities that you would expect from a German accredited school. Staying with a family just added another dimension to the experience. They match you with a family that suits.The lessons were well structured and I enjoyed learning with my 3 other classmates. Der Unterricht ist sehr gut und auf individuelle Bedürfnisse abgestimmt, abwechslungsreich, lustig und mit großartigen Lehrern. Getsemaní und das historisches Zentrum können bequem zu Fuß erobert werden. Die Schule hat mir ermöglicht, innerhalb von 7 Tagen sehr viel zu lernen und viele sehr unterschiedliche Dinge erleben zu können. Darüber hinaus war die Gastfreundschaft meiner Gastfamilie überwältigend. Die dringen notwendige Versorgung von Grundschülern mit einfachstem Unterrichtsmaterial in einem Armenviertel im Rahmen eines Sozialprojektes und deren Verteilung vor Ort bei Señora Lorenza hat mich nachhaltig beeindruckt und mir einmal wieder vor Augen geführt, wie wichtig und unabdingbar es ist, mit einfachen und geringen Mitteln direkte Hilfe vor Ort zu leisten.

steve: This is a very good spanish school.I spent a month there and had a wonderful time. The school is well organized. The staff is nice, the teachers are professionals, the activites very cool and always on time. I also had private dance lessons with Francis (una chica 😉 very kind).Something very nice is the air conditioning in the school because it can get really hot depending the time of the year.I decided to stay with a host family chosen by the school and it was clean and confortable and they were very nice.The localisation is perfect. 10 minutes walk and you're in the neighborhood of Getsemani with its magical atmosphere with bars and restaurants.So if you want to improve your spanish and live a cultural experience meeting other students from different countries, I recommend this school without hesitation.Steve, 52 from Canada.
Lucy Golding: I would highly recommend Ecos as your choice of school. The teachers are excellent and they take the time to make sure you fully understand what is being taught. There are free activities 3 times a week where you can learn more Spanish, find out about the local culture, and interact with other students. At the end of each week you have an interactive session with the other students, in which you play games to improve your vocabulary. If I ever come back to Cartagena I would definitely return to Ecos.

Christoph Körner: The language school is located in the center of Cartagena. Close to the old city and next to Gethsemane. The teachers are all very motivated and you learn very quickly in a short time. There is a test in advance to determine your own level. In the mornings there are joint lessons with up to 4 other students. Individual lessons in the afternoon if desired. Super clean premises, great activities 3 times a week in the afternoon and great employees. Clear recommendation to anyone who wants to learn Spanish.
Ayako Dumont: I'm currently on a 6 month trip to South America and I wanted to take a week of Spanish lessons to get some basics because I've never learned before. ECOS gave me some basics so that I could then learn more in the field.The teachers and classes were great. However, I recommend this program more for those who want to learn Spanish with a good grammatical base and not necessarily to be operational quickly.Thank you for this great week. It was very cool!
Ju: Tolle Sprachschule! Es ist eine kleine und sehr familiäre Schule mit guten und motivierten Lehrern. Zu Beginn wird ein Einstufungstest gemacht und dann werde entsprechende Gruppen gebildet. Besonders gut haben mir die kulturellen Aktivitäten wie Bachata Kurs und Kochstunde gefallen. Freitags gab es für alle Schüler eine gemeinsame Stunde, die viel Spaß gemacht hat. Für deutsche Arbeitnehmer vielleicht noch interessant: die Schule wird für Bildungsurlaub anerkannt. Ich kann sie sehr empfehlen und komme bestimmt wieder!!

Tom Lovett: I cannot recommend this school enough. I am absolutely amazed that. I'm able to have spontaneous conversations with locals about a host of topics, considering I only did four weeks of classes, starting from zero. I was worried that doing well in classes wouldn't carry over to the real world, but that has not been the case at all.The classes themselves were really enjoyable. My teachers were great, the other students were great. We cracked plenty of jokes while still learning new grammar and vocabulary.The school was very helpful when it came to logistics as well. I literally enrolled on a Friday afternoon for Monday morning classes. Also, the school allowed me to print documents and received a package for me.Cannot recommend this school highly enough.
Laura Shadley: Had a wonderful experience at Centro Catalina - Cartagena. The instructors and staff were outgoing and helpful. School always flew by because it was so much fun. I was nervous to speak with people in Spanish, but I gained a lot of confidence while I was there! The school organized a lot of fun activities that allowed you to experience more of the city. They also organized a trip to Isla Grande on the weekend, which was incredible! I stayed with an awesome host family very close to the school. I can't say enough good things!

The teachers, facilities, customer service, extra activities and anybody who works in there with great passion: everything was excellent! I attended both schools in Medellin and Cartagena,and I strongly recommend them.

Danny Lee: I truly can recommend centro catalina for every person who wants to learn spanish - doesnt matter which level you have! The facilities, the staff, the teachers and the way they teach are top notch! Every day they have an activity for the afternoon and also for the weekends, like salsa class, movies, city- or graffiti-tours, etc. Also the school is in the middle of centeo historico and so you can find many restaurants, bars and shops just next to it! Jay Clemmey: The Sanctuary takes you through the history of San Pedro Claver who dedicated most of his life to evangelizing slaves in Cartagena during the 1600’s. He was canonized as a saint in 1888 by Pope Leo XIII.You can spend a good hour or so touring the church, garden, artwork, and the rooms where Claver lived and worked. Highly recommend a visit if you’re in Cartagena.

Alessio Astolfi: I had the chance to visit the Santuario de San Pedro Claver during a trip to Cartagena, Colombia, some ten years ago, and it was definitely an incredible experience. I am a person who has a great love for history and culture, therefore I was very taken aback by this sanctuary's significant past.In the centre of Cartagena's historic area, the Santuario de San Pedro Claver is a beautifully maintained Jesuit church and convent from the 17th century. It bears the name of Saint Peter Claver, a Jesuit priest of Spanish descent who dedicated his life to assisting slaves who were taken from Africa to Cartagena. The sanctuary provided these slaves with food, shelter, and medical attention while acting as a haven for them during a trying moment in history. It was a significant symbol of compassion and hope.The Santuario de San Pedro Claver's architecture is extremely stunning. The facade's exquisite detailing and elaborate designs are evidence of the architects' and artisans' expertise and craftsmanship. The sanctuary's interior is as breathtaking, featuring magnificent murals, pieces of art, and sculptures that depict Saint Peter Claver and his contributions to humankind.The opportunity to view Saint Peter Claver's relics, which are stored in a small room inside the sanctuary, was one of the pleasures of my trip. The saint's skull and bones are among the relics, which serve as a potent reminder of the sacrifices he made during his life and the influence he had on countless others.Overall, anyone with an interest in history, culture, or spirituality should definitely pay a visit to the Santuario de San Pedro Claver. Brittany Mitro: Doing a the market tour + cooking class with Maria was our #1 favorite thing we did while in Cartagena. The market tour was such a unique experience - we wouldn't have ever done it by ourselves (chaotic wouldn't begin to describe the markets) but getting to meet the vendors and try so many fruits we hadn't ever heard of beforehand was a fabulous experience. (Also, if you are nervous about going to a busy market like this, I wasn't nervous at all with Maria - it was clear she knew what she was doing and where to go for the friendliest vendors. Everyone was just busy going about their business, and it was actually surprisingly clean and fresh smelling too, except for the fish & meat area of course)Then the cooking class itself was such a great experience. We love going to cooking classes and do it in a lot of places we travel to, but this one was unique in that we were all (about 8 of us plus Maria) cooking one big meal together. This meant that we got to learn how to make a ton of different things and each contribute as we went. The food in the end was delicious (mote de queso, ceviche, and the posta negra cartagenera) - the best meal we had in Cartagena - and the venue was really cute and fun.We recommend this as an experience for everyone traveling to Cartagena! Would do it again in a heartbeat - thanks so much Maria!

Upon arrival the have everything laid out for you and makes you feel like your in your own home about to cook a wonderful dinner. Chef Maria Delgado's passion for food and her ability to teach complex techniques in an accessible manner made the experience both enjoyable and enlightening. The studio itself was immaculate and well-equipped, creating the perfect environment for learning. Chef Maria went above and beyond by allowing me to use her space for a conference call after the class, showcasing her incredible hospitality. If you're a food lover looking to elevate your cooking skills, Lunático Cooking Studio is the place to be. I eagerly anticipate returning to try more of Chef Maria's delicious dishes – especially that heavenly coconut rice!

Which is insane bc we would have brought the most money. And when you question they’re super rude! They tried telling me it was bc I had gotten there only 15min prior. Hm, no sir! I have eyes and saw all these ppl who just got here after us get upstairs before us. And again, being super rude and condescending. Anyway, I left and then had a blast at Invissa (super recommend instead of this overtly hyped place).

Estefany Parra Cardona: I think that a few years ago it could be called a 5-star hotel, but currently it is no longer. The photo of the pool is a lie, it's very small, so it's always full and apart from everything they close it at 8 pm. Very regular customer service, mostly from the people who serve breakfast and the bar located by the pool. There are many people offering tours at the entrance of the hotel, very harassing, quite annoying…
philip lawrence: I rate this hotel a Minus 1. I am in Cartagena EVERY 2 months and decided to try the Almirante. WORST thing I could have done. We checked in, me and fiancée, both WITH passports. The day after checking in, the hotel security team rushed the elevator we were using to go to our room and asked my fiancée if she was registered in the hotel, what an embarrassment, other guests looking etc., like we had done something!! THEY ASKED HER THAT BECAUSE SHE IS A COLOMBIANA, SO, THEY, THE SECURITY TEAM, RACIALLY PROFILED HER!! I Spoke to the manager the following morning and demanded they make things right for the embarrassment they had caused us due their inept security team (my fiancée cried the whole night because of what happened with the security team !!) The manager agreed that the hotel was at fault, that the security team never should have done what they did and that they would 'comp' us our room charges for the stay to make things right!!The problem is, THEY DID IT, and they did it because it has been tolerated all along, that is my problem with the whole thing She (hotel manager) fully agreed that what happened NEVER should have happened so, they would make things right.Just today, about 10 days after our trip, I was making another reservation at this hotel (because the hotel manager had, I thought. handled everything professionally) when I received an email from the hotel manager saying that She would not honor the room comp but would adjust an overcharge of about $35 from our prior bill. When I asked WHY, SHE SAID that she Never Agreed to the room comp in our meeting in her office on the day in question (I have emails from her admitting their security teams fault!!!! ) Money is one thing but, lies / integrity are another!!I judge a company by their word which is their integrity and not by the cost of services more times than not. With that being said, I would NEVER recommend this property to anyone as, I do not trust them, totally mis-managed!!!! I stay at the Dan Cartagena ALL THE TIME and have NEVER had any problems of any kind, and the rooms are twice the size with Balcony's and the hotel is ON THE BEACH, no walking to the beach!! DO yourself a FAVOR and run as fast as you can AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL PROPERTY. ALSO, THIS IS ABOUT A 3 STAR PROPERTY, VERY DATED AND VERY SMALL ROOMS (AND WE HAD THE BEST ROOM THE HOTEL OFFERED!! )
