We just returned to Cartagena--after going to their store, I ended up buying earrings for me, earrings for my niece and daughter, and a bracelet! Their work is very artistic and original. They have a variety of jewelry so I think most people would be taken with their items. Best of all, they're honest, kind and good people. I feel so lucky to have found their store!!

Emily Howard: I went in to purchase an emerald piece. I had a price range in mind, and the staff was so kind and patient as I tried to decide between earrings, a necklace, and a ring. They let me try each piece on and shared prices clearly as I walked around. They were not pushy at all, and I had a very positive experience. If you’re going to purchase here, know that silver pieces will be less expensive (a necklace with 0.3 karat emerald around 175 USD). Yellow gold is more, around 400 for similar necklace, or earrings, or rings a little more.

Melissa Minoff: Mr. Emerald was kind enough to open his store on Christmas Day, so the cruise ship tours were able to get some relief with A/C, bathrooms, and the opportunity to get their hands on a local and genuine emerald. Great selection of timeless pieces. Thank you Leeland.
Ginger Hilpipre: Visited in January 2023, highly recommend this business. There aren't any falsely inflated prices to haggle down in order to make you feel like you've gotten a steal; instead there are simply top quality items at fair prices. On top of that, the owners are themselves gems - incredibly friendly and helpful. I wouldn't buy emeralds from any other jeweller in Cartagena.

Peter Dube: We stopped in while our ship was in port February 2020. Pedro and Lee were amazing - patient, no pressure. They took the time to educate us and show us their entire selection of men's rings. In the end, we purchased loose emeralds which we paid for and then they designed the 18K white gold settings for us. It took less than a month (per their promise) to ship us the rings, which are stunning. The cost for the rings was exactly as promised. Once we received the rings in the US and were happy, the balance due was wired to their account. I completely trust Mr. Emerald and highly recommend them.

RAFA K'RDENAS 2: If you are a tourist and you want to leave the city with an emerald or another jewel, do not hesitate to go to this jewelry store. Located in the historic center of the city and with a pleasant treatment by its employees.
Suzanne Buckley: This is the ONLY place to go for emeralds. We had been twice in the last 12 years by cruise ship and had been totally satisfied with Lee's quality of service, expertise about emeralds and jewelry, and warmth of welcome. This time, we flew to Cartagena specifically to visit his store. Lee and his son-in-law, Pedro, greeted us warmly at their new spacious store in the old town. They spent a long time with us, helping us to pick out the perfectly matched earrings and ring to go with the pendant we purchased 12 years ago. Our custom made earrings and correctly sized ring will be ready on Friday, just in time for a big birthday. They treat every customer the same way, as we know from the many cruise ship friends we have sent them.

Alison Rooney: Stopped by recently as it was highly recommended. It is very over priced and there wasn’t any service there whatsoever. Hardly anyone was in the store and they staff seemed preoccupied. I bought two small items and they were overpriced for what they were. Suggest other spots in Cartagena.

Katie Fisken: Cartagena Connections is such a fantastic way to see the city and experience the local culture. Kristy is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced in all aspects of the local community and that shines through on her tours! I attended the street food tour and I cannot recommend it enough! If you're wanting to dabble in street food and learn the local ways then this is the tour for you! More broadly Cartagena Connections is the one stop shop for info on all of the best spots in town!
Kristi Vanskiver (Whisky Wanderlust): Kristy was an amazing guide and extremely helpful when trying to accomodate our vegan friend on the street food tour. There is really limited options for a vegan but she really made us all feel welcome and included. She is a wealth of knowledge on history and culture of Cartagena and makes the information fun and engaging. I really couldn't recommend the tour more. It's way more than just a food tour!

Justin Friedrich: We booked two tours with CC and had fantastic experiences at each one. Planning our tours was hassle free and communication through WhatsApp was quick.Daniel showed us around the Bazurto Market, he shared history while showing us the market, sampling local fruit, snacks, and some hidden gems. We finished with lunch, which was some of the most delicious food we had during our trip to Colombia.We also booked a private boat tour of the Rosario Islands, where Ana helped coordinate our day and itinerary. She made everything so easy and since our group speaks very limited Spanish, she was well appreciated through out the day.Everything worked out so well, the guides were excellent, these two tours exceeded our expectations and were the most fun activities during our trip to Colombia!

The response I got via email was about the tour including beach time, lunch etc. I replied saying that I was not interested in the tour. They said fine they would look if the transport was available. Elizabeth Grewe: Had the best experiences with Cartagena Connections! They set us up with a coffee tasting at Cafe Del Mural that completely changed how we thought about coffee. Unforgettable, delicious, very educational. Then we did a market tour with Dan, he was so friendly and knew the maze of the alleys and stalls well. Definitely go with a guide. Dan had great vibes and helped us buy produce. He made sure we got to try local juice and fruit and surprised us with a souvenir at the end, a customized poster from a local artist. Communication with March at CC before, during and after the experiences was friendly, responsive and helpful. Recommend working with them for all sightseeing and touristic needs!

I sent multiple emails confirming the experience I wanted, asked if it was still available and never heard back from anyone. Do not waste your time with this company. There are better ones in Cartagena.

Michael Müller: We had the steet food tour with Kristy and we were absolutely amazed by it.Kristy, living since years in Cartagena, does not only know all the best places to get street food, she also knows a ton of stories about the city itself, the different cultures, the current situation and how the people make their living, about murals, and and and...So this tour is not really about "the city was found in xy bla bla" but about the little details and also about how things and city spots are connected to the history and the people.The food itself was delicious and more than plenty. I did not count but we had like ten snacks, fruits and drinks. But warning: You need to be into fried stuff and cheese but when you are you will love this experience.

Javier G. Santos: Mixed feelings. The place is living history. In what is now a souvenir shop, you can see the impacts of English muskets. You sit in watchtowers where Blas de Lezo himself designed the defense of Cartagena and, therefore, access to current Latin America from the English invaders. You can look at the sea from the fort defense quote supposed that today the entire south of that continent is Latin and not just another British colony. There, 2,300 Spaniards broke 24,000 English, assuming the end of the English hegemony of the seas... But... It is so full of stupid tourists, taking pictures in every corner, climbing historic canyons that they are forbidden to climb. .. In short, if you are a lover of history, it is a must. But you have to go at noon, when the horde of tourists is crammed. Otherwise, you feel too sorry for what those brave men gave their lives to defend.
