Since February 2019, we embarked on a mission to transform the lives of 200 children in one of the most deprived areas of Cartagena, Colombia. We started with 30 of the most vulnerable children, providing them with a nutritious breakfast every day before going to school, thus supporting their physical and cognitive development. Then we gradually expanded our coverage until we reached 70 children. The impact of this work was most evident when the parent of one of the children being supported said:

But we did not stop there, holistic transformation in children requires the addressing of key areas in their lives such as education, and reducing exposure to threats such as drug abuse and domestic violence. Therefore, we introduced after-school activities to tackle each of these areas accordingly.


Providing nutritious food was only the beginning. We knew that to create a long-lasting transformation in children, we needed to address key areas of their lives beyond nutrition. Thus, we introduced educational and recreational activities such as reading, English classes, music, arts and sports. In addition to the cognitive development of the children, these activities are also a powerful tool to limit the time the children spent wandering in the streets where they are most vulnerable to drug abuse.


We consider children’s transformation in a holistic way; the ultimate goal is to transformeach child’s life for them to thrive in the future. We recognized that unless the children enjoyed an emotionally sound environment at home, they would be less likely to thrive. As a result, we expanded our remit to also working with their families, providing the mothers with various developmental tools such as seminars about responsible parenthood and stress management to reduce the incidence of domestic violence towards their children. We also empowered them with the development of culinary and decorative skills for the creation of small businesses so that they can help bring additional resources to the household.

Our goal is to expand our coverage to serve 200 children in our area of operation and to expand our facilities with increasing access to technology equipment to facilitate learning, and have dedicated rooms for English, music and arts classes and a library. In the long term, we intend to transform the lives of more children in all the deprived areas of Cartagena


A gift of £22,000 each year (£1,833 monthly) will allow us to support 100 children, with daily breakfast, educational and recreational activities and support for their mothers development.


A one-time gift of £69,000 will enable us to expand our facilities and equip them with technology and spaces for the full development of the children and their moms.

A gift of £53,000 each year (£4,416 monthly) would allow us to support 200 children in the expanded facilities, and provide them with a unique opportunity to transform their future, where otherwise they would have none.
