Lourdes Celestrin: I would have liked to write a good rating, but the reality is that we had higher expectations considering the place and the cost. The taste of most of the dishes did not impress us, neither did the quality of the wines. In addition, some of what I ate did not taste good, I was vomiting throughout the early morning and part of the next morning. The service was excellent and the place is very nice.

Sandra: This place was quite a surprise. Firstly, my family and I walked into Carmen hoping to snatch a table for an early dinner. Well, with no reservation that plan backfired.Thankfully, the staff suggested Moshi. Moshi serves Japanese cuisine, and is nestled inside Carmen. I ordered the tasting menu w/cocktails and it was an amazing meal. This review was long over due, one year to be exact, and I can’t recall all of the dishes. However, if you’re a foodie and appreciate small surprises in every dish, then I recommend the tasting menu.

Manav Khandelwal: Our favorite meal in Cartagena by far! The setting was beautiful with an outdoor courtyard and indoor air conditioned tables. The service was fast and generous; they brought us an extra small appetizer and an extra dessert that were both fantastic and on the house. For food, we loved everything we got: the ceviche, the Al pastor tacos, the burrata salad, the brisket, and the pork belly. Everything was just out of this world especially the pork belly. Portions are fairly even between entradas and mains.
J. Savage: Carmen is not safe place for people of color. I was shocked and saddened by my recent visit to Carmen of Cartagena . It was especially disappointing since we had a positive dining experience at theMedellin location. We knew weren’t welcome from the minute we entered the restaurant. The female hostess made it clear from the moment we walked in the door that we weren’t welcomed there. I was shocked and sadden because Carmen highly recommended. I was in awe because she was a women of color. America has it issues, but it is rare that i am disrespected by someone that looks like me. I want my racism the good ole fashion American way by folks that don’t look like me. I recommend that people of color patronize establishments where your money is welcomed. This is not Carmen of Cartagena. Kudos, to Mar y Zielo for getting it right. Also, kudos to the male host that tried his best to accommodate our party. I would return if I could deal with him. Again, avoid Carmen of Cartagena. Stick to the the one in Medellin.

Johanna Villegas: I visited during rainy season, so beware- it can be quite hot in the evenings. The restaurant provides bug spray but when making your reservation, their system does not specify that you may choose from an Air conditioned area or not. Keep this in mind and ensure you follow up with the restaurant to ensure you get the area you want.Overall, the service was fabulous. The food was good enough. I will not be back but I recommend you check it out at least once.

Alison Rooney: I had the opportunity to dine here during a recent trip to Cartagena. There is a lot of buzz for this spot. Reservations require a credit card be several follow up messages. I chose the 7 course tasting with wine. I sat outside on the patio. The service began with finesse and attention and sadly finished on the clumsy side. The courses are small and the pairings range from a local beer to a wine with peppermint. Some of the dishes were quite outstanding and the flavors were complex. Some like the chickpea dish fell flat for me. The server doing the wine pairing was rushed and never took time to discuss the wines. I enjoyed the experience and the chance to take part in a space that is unique and deeply rooted in the home city.

Michael C. Delapena: This restaurant was recommended by the manager of my hotel and it didn't disappoint. Located in Cartagena's historic district, it is super cute. They also had live music. I ordered a seafood dish, which came with shrimp, mussels and octopus. Delicious! My partner ordered a beef specialty, and she liked it plenty. We started with empanada appetizer, which I also recommend. They brought yuca bread on the house. Our server was very friendly and answered all our questions. I would return.

Mae AT: Good food, weak cocktails, rude & slow service. We sat at the bar as we did not have a reservation (it's recommended to make a reservation if you want to seat at the main restaurant room but the bar was comfortable and stylish. If it weren't because of the rude bartender, the space would have been cool). We saw the bartender make our drinks and it was all pre-mixed juices with very little technique behind them. He was wearing gloves but touching everything, cross-contaminating the ingredients. The service was slow and the staff seemed to have forgotten about us. When we did have their attention they were not very friendly. At some point we wanted to order another drink from the bartender and he responded rudely saying that our food would come soon without letting us speak. Not very welcoming. The bartender seemed to be more busy talking about the rest of the staff and his impressions of walkin customers than serving us a bottle of water. Again, rude! Food was good but not worth the staff's attitude considering that there are so many great options in Cartagena.

Eugene Kesselman: Service is .. well, non-existent. There was a gap of q hiur from appetizer to New York steak. Which came not done to order and COLD. The prices do not reflect the quality and this is after two times trying to eat here (stayed in hotel) here is the kicker. The server suggested he can warm it up. In the kitchen. And we did as how he suggested microwave .. really ? Angus Prime New York strip from Microwave. To be fair manager did not charge us for it we didn't have time to wait another 40 min for replacement.
Dave: Very disappointing meal here.Service was insanely slow…it took 20+ minutes after ordering a glass of wine for it to even be poured. Our mains for 2 people didn’t come out for about an hour after ordering. Saw all the other tables waiting around hungry too. Waiters barely came around.I had the NY Strip on recommendation from the server. It was very under-seasoned and not well seared. Presentation on the plate was sloppy. Mushrooms in the potato purée were chewy and oddly prepared. Both my wife and I didn’t end up finishing our plates.The Ceviche app was the only saving grace of the meal.Patio seating is beautiful but way too hot/humid to comfortably sit out there (like eating in a sauna).For the price relative to other Colombian restaurants and hype of this spot we left not very happy.
