Bastión Luxury Hotel: what do users think?
erika samaniego: The rooms are beautiful. The pool looks so much bigger in the photos, in reality it was small and one family with kids can take all the space of it. However they have a lot of space to sit and sip some drinks at the rooftop. The staff was kind and helpful. We arrived very early and left late in the afternoon and were allowed to remain in the public areas of the hotel and they held our bags while we explored some more of the city.Rooms: Big and cozy, nice view from balcony and great showers.Nearby activities: So many good restaurants and bars within walking distance. Getsemani is about 15-20 mins away walking.
James Lammerding: Truly wonderful experience. Jorge was very welcoming and attentive to everything I needed during my stay. Front desk staff was very helpful.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Tim Cummings: Excellent hotel within easy walking/Uber distance to most sites/shopping/restaurants. Staff was great & most spoke some English which was helpful because of my limited Español.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury …More
C Woods: Stayed here for 7 days. Rooms are big and comfy. Tile floors so bring your slippers. Bathrooms are nice size. Showers are great. They have nice products in the bathroom. They offer a nicebuffet breakfast in the restaurant but you can also get made to order breakfast. Lobby is nice to kick it and chill but depending on when you go, you might become a buffet for mosquitoes. There is a room next to the outdoor lobby area and it's comfy and a great place to hang out. The rooftop pool is amazing and the views from up there are phenomenal. Pool area is the perfect place to hang out and drink. Internet connection could be spotty at times but wasn't too bad. Front desk was very attentive to any of our needs. Staff was extremely accommodating. Nice hotel to stay at inside the Walled City.
Erica Chew: We spent 5 spectacular days there. The pool was great and the sunset views were stunning. Jorge gave great recommendations of things to do in town. Jordan helped find us reservations and hooked us up with a great walking tour with a local, Aura. Highly recommended. Only thing that I didn't like is they wouldn't heat up my leftovers. I had it in the fridge and was so excited to eat it the next morning but couldn't.Walkability: Great location. Everything in the old town was about 15 min walk max.
Craig R: Great location with full breakfast included. A full spa. A short walk to most parts of the city. Rooftop pool/bar with amazing service (Janner/Jorge are the best!). A quiet oasis away from the busy city below, with its own unobstructed sunset views.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great view, Quiet, Great value …More
ANJLI SHAH: My husband and I stayed at Bastion for 4 nights. It is definitely not a “luxury” hotel for following reasons- as soon as we were allocated a room we realised the air conditioning unit was not working. The workmen did come and sort this out.We then realised our sink was getting clogged up and the water was not draining. This caused a sewage smell in the bathroom. We did let the manager know about this and he assured us it would be dealt with whilst we were sight seeing. Nothing seemed to be sorted. After 2 nights of sleeping in this room and finally making a fuss at reception they did change our room as they said the sink problem could not be sorted. However the second room we were allocated had a broken toilet roll holder, broken tiles on the bathroom floor, the shower wasn't draining quick enough hence was overflowing, the room telephone wasn't working. We did complain to the manager but he didn't seem to be too bothered. The room was definitely not fit to be allocated to a guest.- Breakfast was mediocre for a 'luxury' hotel! There were insects (fruit flies) all over the fresh fruit and the staff didn't seem to be bothered by it.The hotel is in a good location, slightly away from all the hustle and bustle but yet close enough. However I would recommend other hotels in the vicinity which are probably cheaper but have better service and rooms.
Maria Hernandez: 10/10 I would definitely come back and enjoy it again. From the decor to the service every details is thought to make it specialFood & drinks: The ceviche is amazing
Laura Patricia Támara Muñoz: Excellent service and attention. We marriedIn the Santo Toribio church, and arrive walking to the church. Very convenient they decorated the room on the wedding night and they were very special
Mo Gourrier: We had a great room next to the courtyard! The pool upstairs was wonderful with a bar and plenty of seating. The gentleman serving us by the pool was very friendly as well! The food and drinks were amazing.

Jenny Smith: Hotel Casa Lola was the perfect place to kick off our extended honeymoon getaway in Cartagena. A cross between old steam punk, colonial, and Eastern decor with beautiful water streams throughout the incredible labyrinth of the hotel - there was so much to look at and take in at every corner! We thoroughly enjoyed our daily delicious breakfast full of amazing/unique local fruit (+ more), top notch coffee (according to my coffee connoisseur husband) and friendly service - all included with the room, which is the best if you are a budget conscious traveler like myself. :-) The split level rooms with the bed up on the second floor and mirrors all over also made for a one-of-a-kind experience. A major highlight was the rooftop deck with the most incredible views of the city and interesting nooks and crannies galore - it was so quiet up there whenever we made our way on the roof, and we always wondered why more guests/people weren't around enjoying lounging in this hidden gem of a spot!Staying in the heart of Getsemani (a block or so away from the famous Cafe Havana, where we enjoyed a night out of live music and salsa dancing) was such a treat, and the staff were extremely helpful with coordinating drivers from the airport and down to our self-coordinated trip to the Aviary one morning. And of course the neighborhood is a full cultural/art immersion experience - the colors and energy of the nights are one-of-a-kind!
Naima Lyn: The place has an old world charm. The staff is nice, attentive, friendly. Food is top notch. We had the salmon and burger. Drinks are decent. Location is THE best if you want to be knee deep in culture, close proximity to events, clubs, restaurants and all water tours. We had a blast! Last night here and we miss it already.Rooms: Unique decor, zen. If you enjoy nature, pick thid hotel.Nearby activities: Clubs. Tours. Plaza de la trinidad. The mall. The wall. The museums. Close to it all.Safety: Youtube reviews said Cartagena is dangerous. We did not sew nor feel that at all here.

P Dora: This hotel has lots of potential but unfortunately leaves a lot to be desired with room for improvement. The hotel is decorated beautifully. The location is fine. Our room (4) was quiet. The rooftop is a well curated space. Breakfast was also plentiful and of a good quality - the staff serving breakfast were polite, as were the cleaning staff we encountered. My main issues with the hotel were as follows:• Some of the staff presented as unhappy throughout, in particular those facilitating check in and check out. As the first and last impression of the hotel it would not hurt to expend a bit of energy on a smile.• On our second day we spent roughly 4 hours on the rooftop pool during the day. Unfortunately, there were no staff present on the rooftop to take requests for drinks and food. There was no information on the bar indicating opening hours of the hotel bar. There was a sign that said to call down to make requests but this appeared to only indicate an extension number, not a full number. The hotel website indicates there is an app in which you can make requests but this did not appear to be working. Eventually we left the pool area and hotel to grab drinks and food elsewhere.• The hotel website and information leaflets make reference to happy hour every day of the week. However when we witnessed another customer ask about this he was informed that happy hour only happens Wednesday to Friday. It is unprofessional for happy hour to be marketed in this way if the hotel is not providing such an offer. This false advertisement led to us observing a rather uncomfortable exchange between the customer and the member of the staff on our first night. The member of staff remained polite throughout the exchange but a quality hotel would acknowledge their own mistake and offer the customer a one time discretionary happy hour offer. It is poor form of the hotel to put the member of staff in this position.• WIFI was hit and miss in both our room and on the rooftop. In summary, this is a hotel with so much potential but I would not return in a rush until improvements are made.

Brett Tessler: When traveling to foreign countries I believe it's always best to stay in boutique hotels to get a better feel for the culture and this place makes you feel right at home! The staff treats you like family, the location is great, it's very secure, and we ate some of the best breakfasts we've ever had there. Special thanks to Mariano for going above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction!
Greg Schamberg: Excellent boutique hotel right in the heart of Cartagena. The AC in the rooms worked perfectly. You'll appreciate that after a day of exploring the city. The pool was cozy and intimate, and also very clean. The rooms are fantastic and really well appointed and huge. The beds were disappointing, as they just weren't comfortable. The staff was top notch and super helpful, though. Even with the less than ideal beds, I'd highly recommend this place.Walkability: Super close to everything in the walled city.

Casa Claver Loft Boutique Hotel: what do users think?
Nathan: This was a really cool hotel to stay at. You feel like you are just surrounded by history. Walking distance to just about everything and very safe. All the good restaurants, bars, clubs, coffee shops, museums and anything else you need near by. The hotel staff was very nice and very accommodating. They made sure that we had everything we needed. We had breakfast included in our stay and it was fantastic! Spent the early mornings and late evenings walking around exploring, but the middle of the day just chilling by the rooftop pool sipping on the local cervezas. I would definitely stay here again.
Jason Oster: Great hotel at a good price. Clean and comfortable. Great staff. Nice rooftop views. Close to many great restaurants and activities.Rooms: Clean, comfortable apartments. Washing machine, cook top and refrigerator in the room.Walkability: Within the walls of the old fort/city, can walk to everything in a matter of minutes. Close to the beach.Food & drinks: Close to many great restaurants, coffee shops and shopping areas.
Cyassandra Frith: All around 5 Stars ⭐️We were a girls trip of 4 and the room offered PLENTY of space!! I’m an AC girl and the AC did NOT disappoint! The bathrooms were clean and décor was chic and functional. You get daily breakfast which was not only delicious but bought in suite daily and set up by the kind staff. I will definitely be back!!Pictures show views from the rooftop pool which is such a tranquil vibe!
Laura Torres: Wow!What a treat this place. The rooms are beautiful, the beds delicious. The staff was very attentive to our needs, they recommended a delicious place for dinner. The terrace has an unbeatable view of the city surrounded by the two most important domes of Cartagena.Excellent location. It's certainly not a cheap option, but it's worth every peso for the category of hotel.
Alissa Weinman: My friends and I stayed in a Deluxe room for 3 nights on the way back from Tayrona — to say we LOVED Casa Claver is to put it lightly. The hotel itself is so beautiful — from the plants in the lobby area to the downstairs pool to the incredible rooftop. We spent a good amount of time lounging on the rooftop pool taking in Cartagena, and also used it as a great hangout area before going out.The room itself was perfect for 3, but definitely could have fit 4 comfortably. The AC in the Cartagena heat was a godsend for us and the natural light made the room even better. As far as location, it was the perfect place to stay in the Walled City. It was a less than a ten minute walk to some of the must-sees in the area and a 13 minute walk to Getsemani. On top of everything, the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating to us as travelers. I’d definitely stay here again!
Leandro Fajardo: Rooms: Espaçosos e confortáveis.Nearby activities: Dentro do Centro histórico de Cartagena.Walkability: No meio do centro histórico.
parthiv shah: Incredible! Breathtaking views from rooftop! Excellent location!
Alexandra Dékány: The good: The location is the absolute best. Everything—things to see/do, restaurants, shops—is within walking distance and it’s only about a 15 min drive from the airport (waking up at 6am and being able to wander around in the *empty* old city is priceless!). I want to give extra credit to the staff who are kind, helpful, attentive and they do their best! There are two pools—one inside and one on the rooftop. The rooftop area has a stunning view of the city. We got a standard double room on the first floor. Mini fridge in the room and closet to unpack clothes. Breakfast is included and it has to be ordered the day before for a specific time for the next morning. No buffet. Food is really delicious, the cooks are great. The not-so-good: there was no bottle water offered in the room, even though it would’ve been a nice touch and every other hotel offered it. WiFi barely works. The room looks right at the indoor pool and people obviously walk around there all the time which means zero privacy, unless you keep the roller shades down. For the same reason it’s not a quiet room either. There isn’t enough shelf space around the sink to keep toiletries there. Broken shower door—the water is spraying all over the bathroom floor.Walkability: Very walkable.
Daylen Perez: Quiet place recommended to restRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Aisha Batista: Stayed in Cartagena for 5 days.. We were hotel hopping to just get a feel for where we’d like to stay next time we come back to Colombia and this property was the best. The room was large, clean, and quiet. We had our own bathroom and our beds were both king sized. We had included breakfast delivered to our room which was also very delicious! We had the choice to choose from four different types of breakfasts, so so so nice. I really enjoyed the pool/rooftop. All it’s missing is a bar but overall the pool was so refreshing and perfect for the Cartagena heat. I am definitely coming back here. Also most importantly… there is so much nearby you can walk to.. I was going to stay at an Airbnb further away from the walled city but I’m glad I didn’t. I had friends who were staying there and they had to cab it everywhere because there was not many options close by. Everything was residential. I like being able to just walk outside and get some dinner options.I really loved this boutique hotel! Thanks for the amazing hospitality. I wish I would have stayed longer but the price went up like crazy after the 1st night so I went elsewhere… If you didn’t know, Cartagena is crazy busy in January due to holiday celebrations all month. So book accordingly and make sure you do your research or you won’t sleep at night por una chimba rumba. 😎🎉
Jaime Garcia: Very comfortable facilities. Excellent location in the heart of the walled town. Quiet atmosphere and spectacular staff attention. I would return for sure
Mary P: I think we got the smallest room in the entire hotel. Our room in way smaller than expected from the website. It’s on the 4th floor and very near the lovely pool which is really nice. The excellent breakfast is included and is absolutely amazing. They will even deliver it to your room balcony - which is necessary as there is no place to set it down inside your room. We ran into a few other minor issues: the door to the unit when closed still bangs in the wind and makes a loud knocking sound. We fixed that by filling the ice bucket with water to make it heavy and pushed it against the door to keep it in place. There’s not enough outlets for your phones so we had to unplug the clocks. There is NO ROOM whatsoever for toiletries in the bathroom. Most of my bath items are in my travel bags on the floor. The 2 bath towels are pretty scratchy. There were no hand towels. However, I would still recommend this place because of the views, the nice staff, the incredibly excellent breakfast, and the beautiful pool, and the fact that most of the rooms are larger than this one. If you want a larger room be sure you know what you are getting. The website indicated a very large king room with a large bathroom. This is not that. If you don’t mind such a small room, then this is just perfect.
Daymara Escarra: Excellent hotel, very good price for everything it offers. Huge rooms, breakfast in the room or in the area of the hotel you want. It is very quiet and is in the center, 2 blocks from the Clock Tower. In addition, the workers are very friendly and always willing to help.
Alejandro Cortez: The attention of its staff, the wonderful place and its location, its pool terrace and view make this place an unbeatable option when arriving in Cartagena... soon we will return without a doubt.
Jasmine Douglas: Just left the hotel today. Stayed for 5 days. Staff, amazing. Breakfast, amazing. Loved that we could ask the staff for recommendations or directions and they took the time to help us out. We checked out at noon today and the staff was nice enough to store our luggage away safely because our ride wasn’t there for airport pickup yet. Would definitely stay again.
Carolinne Polonio: Excelente hotel, próximo de tudo. Ficamos no Loft 303 e super recomendo. Quarto perfeito, espaçoso, bonito, ótimo café da manhã , funcionários muito educados e gentis. O ponto é o terraço que possui uma vista linda, além de uma piscina e ambiente agradável. Voltarei com toda certeza!

Steven Kern: Great boutique vibe for this hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.
Matthew Koch: Amazing boutique hotel in the Old City of Cartagena. From our arrival until check-out the staff were so friendly and helpful. Right away we were upgraded to a nicer room, which was honestly too big for two of us to fully take advantage of, but we really appreciated it. The entire property was very clean and we'll kept. The breakfast each morning was delicious and filling, with a range of options that you order the night before. The rooftop pool had a great view and you can't miss taking advantage of it. We were alsp lucky enough to watch the parade in front of the hotel. Special shout-out to the front desk staff for helping arrange laundry, volunteering to walk me to an ATM when I was having troubles finding one that was open, and arranging our long taxi ride to Tayrona National Park. If we make it back to Cartagena, we will 100% be staying here again.Rooms: Spacious, clean, and comfortableFood & drinks: Delicious breakfast each day with 5 or 6 different options that you order the night before. The time range that you could eat, either downstairs near the courtyard pool or in your room, was I believe 7-10am, so very accommodating.
Rosanna Rodriguez: Such an amazing experience. This boutique was absolutely perfect! It was close to everything such as entertainment, restaurants, souvenir shops, clubs, etc. The view was breathtaking, and dreamy. The rooms were clean and had all the amenities you need. I will definitely be coming back here again, I felt safe which was extremely important for me. The only downside was that the WiFi really wasn't the best, it kept going in and out. But, it made you enjoy the moment more since you weren't constantly occupied on your phone. I extremely recommend doing a boutique rather than a hotel, it made the experience more personal.

Rebecca Marks: Casa De Alba Boutique deserves more than five stars! Elegant with old world charm that makes it a a perfect complement to the ambiance of the walled city. Perfectly located and easy access to what Cartagena has to offer. Rooms are exquisite and very comfortable. It was lovely to have both pools and a beautiful front deck to enjoy fabulous food and watch the city life below. The staff is superb and made our stay wonderful in every way! Special thanks to Jefferson; he went above and beyond to create a wonderful experience for us and secured bookings for us at several amazing restaurants that we were unable to do on our own! We will be back to visit Cartagena and our friends at Casa De Alba Boutique!
Manzano Jessica: We stayed here for one night and our stay was absolutely wonderful !The hotel is in the “Cartagena old town”, so we were near to everything. The staff is so polite and full of advices.Breakfast was great with choices for eggs and juices. We had it on their little balcony with the street view, but we could also have it on the room.We will definitely come back and recommend it !Thank you 🙏🏽
Angelica Lawrence: I had the time of my life! I absolutely loved my stay. My sister and I were treated like royalty. Carlos went above and beyond to make our stay memorable! He set up taxi arrangements, horse and carriage rides, dinner reservations, excursions, massages and more. The staff was so pleasant and thought. I loved the indoor pool and decor. Carlos greeted us everyday with a smile and new insights about Cartenga. All I can say is wow and thank you for making my birthday so special! The breakfast was so delicious and the hotel is so peaceful. It truly is the perfect getaway. I recommend casa de alba for 5 stars! The canopy beds were so royal and the views and location is perfect in the old city. Thank you so much Carlos for everything!

The food was amazing, the chef was wonderful. The staff was incredible ~ Carlos and Milton made sure everything was perfect. They kept us safe ~ and set up tour guides and reservations and even made sure we all made it back to the hotel safely. We laughed with them, and we hugged them. If you are ever in need of a wonderful place for a group or just a couple this place is perfect. We all fell in LOVE with Cartagena and we all want to go back already! ❤️❤️❤️
Miguel Acosta: THE BEST IS ITS PEOPLE.Excellent service from all its staff, reception, bar, kitchen, chambermaids... all very attentive and friendly, they strive to make you feel at home and help you in any way possible. The architecture is from an old house in excellent condition with a very warm and pleasant atmosphere, the rooms are pleasant and the bed is very comfortable to rest. It is inside the walled city close to everything. If we return to Cartagena we would stay here again.
Michael Sundholm: Wonderful hotel with terrific and attentive service. Antonio, Hernan, and Baker were all very helpful and professional.Breakfast in the morning was delicious and had a beautiful view of the street or you could sit in a very well decorated eating area. The pool area is always kept clean, neat, and beautiful.Other guests were friendly and respectful. The pool on the rooftop was amazing!Whenever we had a question or needed any assistance we were always met with kind and patient persistence to get us where we needed to go, helped us secure cabs to a and from the airport and arranged a Covid test for us.The value definitely is amazing to stay at such a great hotel with excellent staff!

Hernan and Milton made sure everything we needed was taken care of, booking restaurant reservations and even having snacks ready for us when we got back from a long boat day. Would recommend Casa de Alba to anyone I know traveling to Cartagena! Can’t wait to go back!!
Michele Cantelo: Since I can't reply to the hotels response, I'll set some details straight here:- The rate was $120 on our end, not sure what the $40 is, but $120 is very normal pricing for a nice hotel in Colombia. This can be confirmed through a simple Google search. I also have never felt the need to call hotels directly to confirm bookings when I have an email from a reputable company confirming it and have paid already. It's never been an issue before.- I absolutely wasn't screaming. I was too confused to even be angry in the moment. I have no idea where the "famous" traveler thing came from. This is completely fabricated and laughable.- They did not explain anything about not letting others in because a family was there. That's the main thing that I complain about in the review - the total lack of explanation and hospitality. From the moment they opened the door, they were unpleasant, even before knowing what we were there for or allowing us to speak. It wouldn't have cost them a thing for the staff member to be friendly.- We booked through Hotels.com, not Expedia. But, as I said, the mistake was seen across *all* websites, so it's not surprising the hotel has this detail confused.----We booked this hotel through Hotels.com and arrived yesterday only for their doorman to be extremely rude and not honor our reservation. They made a mistake in their pricing (across all websites - every website had this price, Booking, Trivago, etc.) and priced it lower than their actual rate. At the door, they were rude, didn't even apologize for their mistake, and acted as if *we"* had done something wrong. They didn't offer to let us into the lobby to correct the mistake (we could have paid the full price) or even just to have a place to sit while we found a new reservation. They just left us in the street with all of our bags and nowhere to go due their mistake (it couldn't have just been Hotels.com, as the price showed on EVERY website the same.) Even people on the street were shocked by how rude the man who worked there was. It's one thing for a logistical error to happen. It's another thing to have a total lack of hospitality, be totally rude, and leave people stranded. I've travelled 20+ countries and lived abroad for 4+ years and NEVER experienced this sort of thing.
Jesús Johan Villalobos G.: 👌🏽
Erick Cuellar: If I could give Casa de Alba more stars I would! Andres, Thomas, Baker, Hernan, and Antonio took the best care of us. The breakfast was delicious and prepared exactly at the time we asked. Baker made amazing drinks (ORDER THE PASSIONFRUIT MOJITO!) The rooms are spacious, super comfortable, and AC works well. Hernan helped us with transportation from and to the airport and our covid tests. At night Antonio served as our personal tour guide to get us around and ensure we didn't get lost. I didn't expect the level of attention my girlfriend and I received. We were sad to leave, but excited to plan another stay in the future with Casa de Alba. Thank you for an unforgettable time.
Franklin Manuel Diaz Muñoz: It is Fantastic, dreams come true ..... unique, passion and reality ..
Ty Allred: I stayed here with friends over a long weekend and we each loved it. The entire hotel is super clean. The rooms are very unique and come with a solid A/C (essential in the humidity of Cartagena). The hotel has two pools which were great to cool off/hang out in at the end of the day. The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating to any request that arose. Breakfast in the second floor dining room each morning was fantastic. The location in central Old Town Cartagena also meant that all bars/restaurants were within walking distance.I would 100% stay here again.
Diego Ontaneda: Five stars. Casa de Alba is this gorgeous boutique hotel built in a historic house right in front of the cathedral in the old walled city.Location is unbeatable: You're walking distance from the best restaurants, clubs, cafés, and tourist spots in the old city.Class & décor: the owners have hand-picked everything you see in the hotel. the furniture, the art, the marble finishes... everything is tastefully chosen, and the collective impact is quite striking. The staff: the idea is that you will feel at home. The staff is professional and kind, and they add a lovely touch of human warmth to the experience.Food & drinks: top, top, top. You're welcomed with the best mojito (apparently the original recipe can be traced back to this house, which used to belong to Sir Francis Drake!). The in-house mixologist is a master, truly. And the meals were all delicious.Air conditioning! Don't take it for granted in the old city. And here you might actually freeze if you don't adjust it :)Do yourself a favor, and get this unique experience when in Cartagena!
Edgar Rafael Murillo Rodríguez: It is an excellent and exclusive place. Great attention; the variety of cocktails is excellent, as is the food.In addition, the staff is always very service minded. The space and atmosphere is crazy. It was a great experience.

Alexander Pinzon: DANGEROUS... UNRESPONSIBLE... I stayed in this hotel in May, my mother suffered an accident around the pool and this hotel does not have trained personnel, nor do they have any protocol for these cases. My mom fell silent and lost consciousness for a few minutes and the lifeguard who was nearby brought me a cream to spread. The lack of knowledge in an accident like this is noticeable, an ambulance was never called to immobilize her, I had to pick her up after she fell and take her to the hospital in a taxi. The result of the fall was 3 fractured ribs and a vertebra. So far I have not heard anything from the hotel or from the hotel insurance company. If you are looking for a safe site with a greater sense of responsibility. do not stay at the hilton in cartagena.

Alfiz Hotel: what do users think?
mariano bruzzon: Excellent place to spend a few days in Cartagena. From the first moment the friendliness and hospitality of the staff stand out and give an extra plus to the entire stay. The breakfast is very rich and of very good quality. Although Cartagena is a noisy city, the interior of the hotel is very quiet despite being located in the historic center. Highly recommended!!
Ana Gonzalez: We absolutely loved our stay here, and we would go back as the experience was great. The location is great! The costumer service is fantastic, everyone was so nice and helpful. Always giving us great advise, and recommendations for places to visit, and things to eat. They were all super attentive, and they have 24/7 front desk support.Location: The hotel is located inside the walled city, on the Centro Historico. Steps away from the Torre del Reloj. It's actually walking distance to everything, including Getsemani (at least it was for us, and we were there with my mother). You can find great restaurants, discos, icecream stores, shopping and pretty much anything around it. However, please be aware that with it's centric location you will also see and hear a lot of movement around it, so if you are a light sleeper, take notice. It did not affect us at all, as we are deep sleepers, so the centric location was great for us!The reception: When you get to the hotel, they welcome you with a complimentary drink, which was very delicious. The place feels as if you had stepped through a time portal, and went back to the colonial times. So cool. They offer free coffee, books that you can borrow, and some binders with recommended tours and attractions. The front desk ladies that were in when we first got there, were supper attentive, and made the check-in process a super easy experience.Room: We stayed in the room called La Republica, and it is a beautiful room. It has a balcony to the main street full of flowers, a living room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The bedroom on the main floor of the suite offers a little more privacy as it has a door, however, we believe this is the secondary room, as the bed is smaller than the king size bed that you can find on the second floor. The bathroom here is slightly bigger than the one found on the second floor, however, please keep in mind that they are on the smaller size. The AC can be set at a lower temperature here as well, as the room can be closed off and has it's own AC unit.To get to the second floor, you will need to use the spiral staircase. The bed on the second floor is huge, and you can find the hair dryer there as well. The bathroom is smaller than the one on the first floor. The AC for this room is shared with the rest of the unit, so it can get a little hotter than expected. It is still nowhere near as hot as it gets outside (yes, Cartagena is VERY hot).Note: Because there is a balcony to the main street, the suite can get loud at night, however it has extra wooden doors that you can close on top of the glass doors, and that will help with the noise.Extras: The hotel offers free breakfast. We ate the breakfast at the hotel everyday, as the food was delicious. Things to know, the juice comes from very interesting fruits, my husband loved them, but I was not into them. They mostly change the juice per day. The bowls with fruits were very good, the fruit served is very fresh. There's a small pool on the second floor, same floor as the room we were staying in. It's very cute, but it is small. The water stays pretty warm as the weather in Cartagena is super hot. I loved it.There's a jacuzzi on the rooftop, you need to ask the front desk before using it, but it's beautiful up there. However, you do need to go up a more difficult spiral staircase than the one in the room. It was an adventure for me, but my husband and my mother did not find it difficult. The bedroom has a small fridge with water, beers, sodas and cold wine. These cost extra, but they are there in case you need it. We found the prices to be ok, but you can still find better prices on supermarkets or drugstores.Overall, we loved the place, we loved the staff, and we would go back as it was an awesome experience.
Walter Herbert: Couldn't be happier with the service by the staff, the breakfast, great room and the best location in the walled city 3 minutes from the Clock Tower square. A shout out to Karina who made everything excellent. We travel all over the world and are very experienced travelers and it doesn't get any better than this.Nearby activities: So many sights and shopping and restaurants within minutes of this location.Walkability: Best location in the walled city. Near everything.
Reb Yooper: Perfect hotel for experiencing Cartagena's Old City. The building is beautiful, historic, and well-maintained. Our second floor room was a two-level suite with the living area and bath on the lower level and a bedroom upstairs. Air conditioning is essential for any stay this time of year and ours worked perfectly. The entire hotel was immaculate which reflects well on the staff and management. Breakfast was a treat with tropical fruit and juices along with made-to-order eggs and sides. Despite its location in the heart of the Old City, the hotel was quiet at night with little street noise. All members of the staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. The Alfiz is the perfect representation of a "Boutique Hotel." Should we be lucky enough to return to Cartagena, we'll surely stay at the Alfiz.
Salvador Alvarez: A very nice boutique hotel. With very good attention from the staff. The rooms are very clean and beautiful. The relation price facilities very well.It is located exactly in the center and from there everything is within a few blocks.
Lin Jones: The hotel is in a beautiful old colonial era house with a lot of architectural details and antique furniture. It has a small pool (slightly bigger than a U.S. hot tub), and a courtyard. The room has high ceilings and simple furnishings. There are three rooms on the ground floors and maybe four or five rooms on the second floor. The rooms on the ground level facing the courtyard where the breakfast is also served. So it can be noisy in the morning and not for sleeping in. The room was newly painted a few days ago so it has the chemical paint odors. We ended up leaving the windows and door open to try to air it out. And the location is near major plazas, so I can hear the music from nearby venues. The breakfast is OK but I have far better breakfast at other Colombian hotels. I don’t think I will stay here again in the future.
c b: This hotel was one of the great hits of our 3 week stay in Colombia. The hotel itself is quiet and comfortable. A structure built in 17th century I believe.Staff were exemplary. My wife fell I’ll and the staff went out of their way, including making special chicken for her. They were very attentive to her.Morning breakfast was something to look forward to.The location was great. Easy walking to anywhere in the Walled City and Getsemani
Sensacional.
Fernando Castro: The place is very warm and the attention is excellent
Amanda G: This hotel was so incredibly fantastic, there truly are no words to describe it. If you’re looking for something intimate and cozy with great food and perfect staff, stay here. I stayed here twice within a week’s vacation and wish I could stay longer. It is PERFECT. You must stay here.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
S G: We booked the first night in a family room which was located on the second floor. It was beautiful with a balcony. Our other room on the first floor was still good but not spectacular like our family room.Breakfast is included and was delicious. Made to order eggs, yucca, arepa. Fresh fruits and bread before meal.Service is great! Everyone was super nice and very helpful. Any questions we had they answered. Manuel the first day was super helpful and welcoming. Laudy was also super helpful, nice and kind. The hotel is in a great area. Was able to walk to everything. What I liked most about it was the safety. They don't allow everyone to walk in. You have to ring the doorbell and they'll let you in.I enjoyed my stay.
Marlene sadon: Excellent location in the walled City. Friendly and helpful staff.Would definitely recommend staying at this hotel.Rooms: 4/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Shripal Parekh: Historical hotel ! I liked the rooms, the service and the location.Rooms: Very interesting, historical feel but with all the amenities. TV can be better and wifi can be improved but otherwise no issues.Nearby activities: Perfect location right in the historical center.Walkability: Great location, walkable to anywhere in the historical center.
Tim Cain: Great place to stay when you are in Cartagena. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Staff is friendly. Central location.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Julian Diaz: The best experience for its comfort, hospitality, excellent location and service. We will surely return together with my wife.A luxury of experience the services for us to enjoy our honeymoon.
Peter Klenk: An excellent location, everything in the old city and surrounding area is an easy walk. A pleasant breakfast is provided, the pool is a small but refreshing place to cool off after a day of walking. ATM, good food, all located nearby. I suggest a room on the higher floors if you don’t mind stairs. The first floor is a bit loud in the morning as doors open into courtyard where breakfast is served. If you are an early bird, this is not a problem. Staff is great; friendly and helpful. Rooms are large and have very high ceilings. Bed was firm but soft. Shower in our room was a large cement tub that you have to step over, but no problem unless you have mobility issues. The bedding and towels are very clean but had a detergent smell that may affect you if you have allergies. The pillows are plentiful and soft. Maid service each day and they do a wonderful job. Plenty of outlets for your charging needs.
William Evans: Most charming amazing boutique in the Old CityRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Asa: The hotel was a beautiful one with a great location within the walled city. The staff were amazing, kind and absolutely made our stay so much more memorable. Even after weeks I miss the hotel and the wonderful staff for the lovely conversations. The breakfast, set standard menu, was one of the best I have had - clean, fresh, tasty! Loved the yard and the pool as well for the intimate vibes. Thanks so much, you have definitely made us want to come back soon.

Almirante Cartagena Hotel: what do users think?
Estefany Parra Cardona: I think that a few years ago it could be called a 5-star hotel, but currently it is no longer. The photo of the pool is a lie, it's very small, so it's always full and apart from everything they close it at 8 pm. Very regular customer service, mostly from the people who serve breakfast and the bar located by the pool. There are many people offering tours at the entrance of the hotel, very harassing, quite annoying…
philip lawrence: I rate this hotel a Minus 1. I am in Cartagena EVERY 2 months and decided to try the Almirante. WORST thing I could have done. We checked in, me and fiancée, both WITH passports. The day after checking in, the hotel security team rushed the elevator we were using to go to our room and asked my fiancée if she was registered in the hotel, what an embarrassment, other guests looking etc., like we had done something!! THEY ASKED HER THAT BECAUSE SHE IS A COLOMBIANA, SO, THEY, THE SECURITY TEAM, RACIALLY PROFILED HER!! I Spoke to the manager the following morning and demanded they make things right for the embarrassment they had caused us due their inept security team (my fiancée cried the whole night because of what happened with the security team !!) The manager agreed that the hotel was at fault, that the security team never should have done what they did and that they would 'comp' us our room charges for the stay to make things right!!The problem is, THEY DID IT, and they did it because it has been tolerated all along, that is my problem with the whole thing She (hotel manager) fully agreed that what happened NEVER should have happened so, they would make things right.Just today, about 10 days after our trip, I was making another reservation at this hotel (because the hotel manager had, I thought. handled everything professionally) when I received an email from the hotel manager saying that She would not honor the room comp but would adjust an overcharge of about $35 from our prior bill. When I asked WHY, SHE SAID that she Never Agreed to the room comp in our meeting in her office on the day in question (I have emails from her admitting their security teams fault!!!! ) Money is one thing but, lies / integrity are another!!I judge a company by their word which is their integrity and not by the cost of services more times than not. With that being said, I would NEVER recommend this property to anyone as, I do not trust them, totally mis-managed!!!! I stay at the Dan Cartagena ALL THE TIME and have NEVER had any problems of any kind, and the rooms are twice the size with Balcony's and the hotel is ON THE BEACH, no walking to the beach!! DO yourself a FAVOR and run as fast as you can AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL PROPERTY. ALSO, THIS IS ABOUT A 3 STAR PROPERTY, VERY DATED AND VERY SMALL ROOMS (AND WE HAD THE BEST ROOM THE HOTEL OFFERED!! )

Lorena LM: Absolutely amazing hotel, a truly 5-star experience! Staff are incredible and go out of their way to make sure your stay is pleasant. From Jesus welcoming special guests to the mayordomos (thank you Rudy, Diego, Amaury and Armando!) and everyone else in the hotel. The facilities are stunning and full of history and the food is amazing in all restaurants. I highly recommend the restaurant 1621 for amazing fine dining! Can’t wait to go back one day!
Vilma Barrios: I had lunch with my family, excellent attention, service and food
Karen McNeill: This place is worth every penny! The people are beautiful, welcoming, and most of all kind. The rooms are a little outdated, but for the most part you don’t spend a lot of time in your room. The hotel has everything you need and it’s conveniently located to shops and restaurants. The staff goes above and beyond to accommodate you. I highly recommend this place. They nailed “customer service”! I will return!
Luchy Cuentas May: Simply, the best place at all times... I highlight the warmth and simplicity of its collaborators...Food & drinks: Las habitaciones, sus áreas, su gastronomía, en fin todo es excelente. Es un lugar muy completo.
Gustavo Enrique Soto: Excellent menu served by high-level professionals
Juancho Arcilla: It was a flawless lunch. Pate of black and green olives, capers and anchovies on bread.Exquisite seafood casserole accompanied by Viognier blanc wine.Excellent prices
