The coffee was great and the selection of books made for a fun browsing. They had tons of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, so if you are looking for that while you are in Cartagena (in English or Spanish), this is the place to go. If you are looking for some local literature from Colombia, or Spanish translations of some of your favorites, stop in here for a drink and a browse!

Fe Breer: The place is beautifully decorated and makes the appearance of a great place to have a coffee or two. They also say in the menu that they include some of their cake or cookies with every hot coffee, which is an interesting concept that could justify the high price of the drinks. However...they didn't bring any of that with the coffee by themselves. And when we asked for it, the waitress wasn't sure if they were even doing it anymore - and eventually brought us some dry salty cookies that did not go well with the coffee. The cappuccino itself was decent, but not a revelation. All in all, our visit was unfortunately a disappointment.
AT 2022: Unfortunately we got scammed here. Usually when you order coffee in a Chemex it’s for two people and at least (!) two cups. Here you only get one cup but pay 5€ for it which is an insane price for Cartagena. Also we asked if it’s possible to order a chocolate drink without cake since in the menu there was only a combo option available. Turned out that it’s the same price when you order it with or without cake which they didn’t tell us. The coffee was ok though but a bit tasteless and definitely not worth 5€ when you can get it everywhere for half the price or less. Unfortunately this was our worst experience in Cartagena so we would not recommend going here unless you want overpriced coffee/ chocolate and bad service

Tom Lovett: I cannot recommend this school enough. I am absolutely amazed that. I'm able to have spontaneous conversations with locals about a host of topics, considering I only did four weeks of classes, starting from zero. I was worried that doing well in classes wouldn't carry over to the real world, but that has not been the case at all.The classes themselves were really enjoyable. My teachers were great, the other students were great. We cracked plenty of jokes while still learning new grammar and vocabulary.The school was very helpful when it came to logistics as well. I literally enrolled on a Friday afternoon for Monday morning classes. Also, the school allowed me to print documents and received a package for me.Cannot recommend this school highly enough.
Laura Shadley: Had a wonderful experience at Centro Catalina - Cartagena. The instructors and staff were outgoing and helpful. School always flew by because it was so much fun. I was nervous to speak with people in Spanish, but I gained a lot of confidence while I was there! The school organized a lot of fun activities that allowed you to experience more of the city. They also organized a trip to Isla Grande on the weekend, which was incredible! I stayed with an awesome host family very close to the school. I can't say enough good things!

The school is located in the historic center of Cartagena, with lots of restaurants, shops and sights in a short walking distance.Teachers and staff are just awesome and made my stay a unique and special experience. Loris Contro: I spent 6 FUNtastic weeks learning Spanish and everything I could about the Colombian heritage and culture at Centro Catalina, and would have spent a lot more than that if I had had more time. The teachers, facilities, customer service, extra activities and anybody who works in there with great passion: everything was excellent! I attended both schools in Medellin and Cartagena,and I strongly recommend them.

The facilities, the staff, the teachers and the way they teach are top notch! Every day they have an activity for the afternoon and also for the weekends, like salsa class, movies, city- or graffiti-tours, etc. Also the school is in the middle of centeo historico and so you can find many restaurants, bars and shops just next to it! He has a great background story of how he came to be in Cartagena from his hometown as well.We ordered a couple of tapas - Ceviche de la Casa and Croquetas de Res. We liked both but were especially enjoyed the Croquetas. The drinks were great as well. They have a wide selection of options.There is only a small inside section but a large outdoor seating area if there’s nothing available inside. The only benefit of inside is the air conditioning.

We asked for a song to sing birthdays and they didn't allow it because they only listen to electronic music, we were a group of more than 15 adult people to celebrate the birthday of a 60-year-old person. The hostess did not want to allow us to enter because they already wanted to close the premises and their closing time was in 3 hours!I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT AT ALL!It goes without saying that I would never return to this place...I would like to add that I do not recommend any dish, much less the beer that was super hot!

I hope the owner reads this and realizes what they are doing with their beautiful business.They did not want to accept us at 11 because they were already picking up and the hours are until 2am. We were a group of 20 people.When we were leaving they applauded us because they wanted to leave. Awful. 0 points on everything.
Aquiles Rodríguez: A beautiful space but its extremely rude workers, not only do they not want to attend to you but they show it to you, surely the owner has no idea how badly they serve. The most expensive beer in Cartagena and hot! Unfortunately I do not recommend it and I will never return

Lady Bello: The reason why I’m putting 5 stars is because the food is sooo delicious yum yum and where the restaurant is located the is amazing. The bad part is the communication in that restaurant. If you go on google maps search up the restaurant and try to call that restaurant the number bad it doesn’t go through. I tried sooo many times I had to go to another restaurant and ask for help. That restaurant needs to adjust the number as to why they haven’t is a mystery. Once I was able to successfully make the reservations a few hours later I called to make sure my reservations was ok and then I called again the second day just make sure, call me crazy I just like to make sure everything was okay. As soon as I got there they didn’t see my reservations 🤯!!! I had to get loud and rude to the put that they called in the manager and I told the manager this is a mess on how you handle the reservations. Yeah you can also do the reservations online but I believe in doing things myself and or in person. The manager let me in because I gave him all proof that I tried calling to make a reservation and everything. We sat the table that we picked. WE WAITED FOR AN HOUR for our server to come to us. Another serve saw us tried to help and she noticed that our actual serve never came up to us. She decided to help I was soo angry on how the manager miss manages his personal. The server who help us was soo sweet to us. I left her a tip and she said that there’s a new law in Colombia that because the restaurants are paying the servers well the customers aren’t allowed to tip us. I believe alll restaurantes should follow this example.

Eduardo Garcia: Well I was expecting more but, this place is just location. The location is really nice, it feels perfect, but the food and the drinks were ahh ok. The cocktails are strong really really strong maybe good for some people but they taste like shoots not like cocktails. We order an octopus the octopus was ok but the potetos were no cook. Also one of the cocktails taste like reallly bad we did not know if it was the piratas del caribe or de one from the house the server did not know which one was. Overall just one time experience.

Certainly, but it is absolutely worth getting lost in the maze of colorful narrow streets of Gethsemane and discovering a detail at every corner, a mural, the activities of the inhabitants, the chaotic life that animates the historic district of Cartagena! In hindsight, I would have taken advantage of the countless possibilities to take a guided tour, but we didn't have much time to organize ourselves.

As I was able to investigate on some Internet sites, in 2018 Forbes magazine included Gethsemane among the 12 coolest neighborhoods in the world.On almost all the walls of the buildings that make up the neighborhood, you can see beautiful paintings and graffiti.There I had read that walking through those streets is like entering a multicolored art gallery. The owner of that phrase was not very wrong.It draws attention as one of the poorest neighborhoods in Cartagena, it became the "boom" of tourism.It is worth your visit.

Lorena LM: Absolutely amazing hotel, a truly 5-star experience! Staff are incredible and go out of their way to make sure your stay is pleasant. From Jesus welcoming special guests to the mayordomos (thank you Rudy, Diego, Amaury and Armando!) and everyone else in the hotel. The facilities are stunning and full of history and the food is amazing in all restaurants. I highly recommend the restaurant 1621 for amazing fine dining! Can’t wait to go back one day!
Gianluca Mazzanti: We stayed at the Santa Clara for our honeymoon a total of 5 days in mid-June 2023. It was a divine experience: impeccable service, exquisite food (DREAM breakfast) and wonderful infrastructure. The only flaw is the lack of clarity regarding the tipping system. In Colombia it is customary to leave a tip equal to 10% of the total bill. But they didn't explain well that at the time of check out, for each night they charged us (with a centralized tip system) about 40€ (!). The problem is that tipping should still be voluntary, but at the time of signing each bill, however you are asked how much you wish to leave as a tip... So we tipped at every meal, cocktail etc. and in addition they charged us €40 for each day which significantly increased the balance to be paid at the end of the stay. Anyway, highly recommended!!!!!

Karen McNeill: This place is worth every penny! The people are beautiful, welcoming, and most of all kind. The rooms are a little outdated, but for the most part you don’t spend a lot of time in your room. The hotel has everything you need and it’s conveniently located to shops and restaurants. The staff goes above and beyond to accommodate you. I highly recommend this place. They nailed “customer service”! I will return!
