Estefany Parra Cardona: Creo que hace unos años podría llamársele hotel 5 estrellas, pero actualmente ya no lo es. La foto de la piscina es un engaño, es bien pequeña, por lo que se la pasa llena y a parte de todo la cierran a las 8 pm. La atención al cliente muy regular, más que todo de parte de las personas que sirven el desayuno y el del bar ubicado en la piscina. Hay mucha gente ofreciendo tours en la entrada del hotel, muy acosadores, bastante molesto…
philip lawrence: I rate this hotel a Minus 1. I am in Cartagena EVERY 2 months and decided to try the Almirante. WORST thing I could have done. We checked in, me and fiancée, both WITH passports. The day after checking in, the hotel security team rushed the elevator we were using to go to our room and asked my fiancée if she was registered in the hotel, what an embarrassment, other guests looking etc., like we had done something!! THEY ASKED HER THAT BECAUSE SHE IS A COLOMBIANA, SO, THEY, THE SECURITY TEAM, RACIALLY PROFILED HER!! I Spoke to the manager the following morning and demanded they make things right for the embarrassment they had caused us due their inept security team (my fiancée cried the whole night because of what happened with the security team !!) The manager agreed that the hotel was at fault, that the security team never should have done what they did and that they would 'comp' us our room charges for the stay to make things right!!The problem is, THEY DID IT, and they did it because it has been tolerated all along, that is my problem with the whole thing She (hotel manager) fully agreed that what happened NEVER should have happened so, they would make things right.Just today, about 10 days after our trip, I was making another reservation at this hotel (because the hotel manager had, I thought. handled everything professionally) when I received an email from the hotel manager saying that She would not honor the room comp but would adjust an overcharge of about $35 from our prior bill. When I asked WHY, SHE SAID that she Never Agreed to the room comp in our meeting in her office on the day in question (I have emails from her admitting their security teams fault!!!! ) Money is one thing but, lies / integrity are another!!I judge a company by their word which is their integrity and not by the cost of services more times than not. With that being said, I would NEVER recommend this property to anyone as, I do not trust them, totally mis-managed!!!! I stay at the Dan Cartagena ALL THE TIME and have NEVER had any problems of any kind, and the rooms are twice the size with Balcony's and the hotel is ON THE BEACH, no walking to the beach!! DO yourself a FAVOR and run as fast as you can AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL PROPERTY. ALSO, THIS IS ABOUT A 3 STAR PROPERTY, VERY DATED AND VERY SMALL ROOMS (AND WE HAD THE BEST ROOM THE HOTEL OFFERED!! )

Paul Johnson: The Movich rooftop might be one of the best views in the old city of Cartagena and probably worth a visit particularly for a sunsetHowever be prepared to pay the highest prices in the city for cocktails and they are not very good. Just a shot of vodka or rum will cost 80,000 pesos (~$19 US dollars), which is close to 2x other high end restaurants in the old city.Despite the fabulous view we were shocked by the prices of the cocktails, which spoiled our visit.

But …. 2 very anoying points:1. the music was terrible, loud american pop music. We asked to change the music and they were clueless…. Saying it was the hotel radio. The music is so important for the ambiance, the full city is about salsa and good vibe, I can’t believe they don’t have better music than that to create a vibe.2. The service! We ordered 2 Dry Martini from the menu. The waiter said they can’t do them, they are out of gin. We asked then to replace by vodka. It got extremely complicated. And at the end, they charged double the price, saying they had to charge a shot of vodka (?) to replace the gin in the martini.. we argued, but the manager was rude and not client friendly. A big zero for the service.Unfortunately, although the view is amazing, go for some pictures and get your drinks somewhere else nicer !

HAROLD RANSOM: This place was recommended by our driver and it was spot on. Nice location, with beautiful views. We could see other rooftop bars and it had a view of the Plaza where a public concert was taking place. Food was good, margaritas were better than the mojitos.Food & drinks: Food and drinks were excellent.

Carmen Morawska: This is such a special hotel. The common areas are beautiful, and it has definitely kept its colonial charm whilst feeling very luxurious.The room was comfortable and well equipped. The only issue is we had a desk semi-blocking the door, so accessing the balcony wasn’t easy. It’s also worth noting that it’s quite noisy at night. Not the hotel’s fault as it’s coming from the street below, but for the rooms that face the road, maybe they could offer earplugs.The shower did not get very hot for very long and the old shower head means the water sort of splatters in weird directions, but it wasn’t terribly inconvenient.The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating.
Marc Jerome: My wife and I just returned from a three night stay at this wonderful boutique property. The stay was wonderful because both the property and the service were excellent. Our room—#1– was lovely, quiet and peaceful with high ceilings and a large bathroom. The common areas are beautiful and stylish. The rooftop pool was perfect to relax at. But most importantly, the level of service was so good, we felt like we were staying at a private Villa. Every morning, fresh coffee with hot milk was waiting for us before our run. Breakfast, which is included, was delicious. See photos below. For the price, you cannot beat the level of service or room amenities. We highly recommend this 6 room hidden gem. Special shout out to the wonderful staff, including our food server, Dorian; Otto who greeted us in the am and Eduardo andClaudia, who helped make our stay memorable.

Everything on the breakfast menu is outstanding and the staff gladly made any slight alterations to meals to meet there needs of the pickiest of eaters. The front office staff are experts of the old town and have amazing recommendations for food and sights. They were extremely helpful in navigating transportation needs. 100% stay here if you are in Cartagena!!!For any event, I highly recommend Angie. She was detail oriented, responsive, and well-connected. She is personable and navigated any request, no matter how last-minute, with care, attention to detail, and grace. She made the entire wedding party feel at home and provided us with service that went above and beyond her role. She truly is an amazing person and fantastic at her job. We were lucky to work with her and would jump at any opportunity to work with her again if the opportunity would arise. Alexander Pinzon: DANGEROUS... UNRESPONSIBLE... I stayed in this hotel in May, my mother suffered an accident around the pool and this hotel does not have trained personnel, nor do they have any protocol for these cases. My mom fell silent and lost consciousness for a few minutes and the lifeguard who was nearby brought me a cream to spread. The lack of knowledge in an accident like this is noticeable, an ambulance was never called to immobilize her, I had to pick her up after she fell and take her to the hospital in a taxi. The result of the fall was 3 fractured ribs and a vertebra. So far I have not heard anything from the hotel or from the hotel insurance company. If you are looking for a safe site with a greater sense of responsibility. do not stay at the hilton in cartagena.

Liegen waren immer vorhanden.Upgrade auf Meerblick als Statusmitglied habe ich bekommem.Die Zimmer sind sauber, modern eingerichtet, auch gut zum Arbeiten ausgestattet.Frühstück sehr reichhaltig, gerade bei den lokalen Gerichten kann man fast jeden Tag was neues ausprobieren. Es war bis auf das Wochende nicht überlaufen und hat eine sehr schöne Aussicht.Zu Fuss kann man mehrere Restaurants und Bars erreichen und durch Bocagrande bummeln, Ich habe mich auch abends sicher gefühlt.

Her customer experience skills are superb.We arrived a couple of hours before checking, she graciously provided a hospitality room for us to change our clothes. While we were out exploring the city, she had our luggage conveniently transported to our room and emailed me. I appreciate the level of service she provided!Rooms: We booked a suite and it was just what we needed; 2 rooms 1 master and 2nd room with 2 twin size beds. Balcony overlooking the water. The pullout couch was super convenient for our family of 5 and the room was spacious.Safety: One of the reasons we decided to stay at the Hyatt was for safety purposes. We have stayed at the Hyatt in other countries and felt extremely safe.I like the idea of having to take 2 sets of hotels to get tothe room. This provides a layer of security bc you gave to go to the main lobby to access the room elevator.Walkability: The hotel is conveniently located in Boca Grande, next to a mall with many shops and in front of a grocery store. It's a couple of mins away via Uber to the Walled City.Food & drinks: We had room service, the food was good and priced reasonably. The drinks by the pool were amazing. We ordered mojitos and they were great!

Jay Peralta: I had such an amazing stay at this Hyatt for a 6 day trip to Cartagena. The views are gorgeous, though it is such a shame the beach is being completely rebuilt so during our stay we just saw construction every day by the water. The service was exceptional and the restaurants were all great. All of the pools have a great view and are never too busy.

Greg Schamberg: Excellent boutique hotel right in the heart of Cartagena. The AC in the rooms worked perfectly. You'll appreciate that after a day of exploring the city. The pool was cozy and intimate, and also very clean. The rooms are fantastic and really well appointed and huge. The beds were disappointing, as they just weren't comfortable. The staff was top notch and super helpful, though. Even with the less than ideal beds, I'd highly recommend this place.Walkability: Super close to everything in the walled city.

However they have a lot of space to sit and sip some drinks at the rooftop. The staff was kind and helpful. We arrived very early and left late in the afternoon and were allowed to remain in the public areas of the hotel and they held our bags while we explored some more of the city.Rooms: Big and cozy, nice view from balcony and great showers.Nearby activities: So many good restaurants and bars within walking distance. C Woods: Stayed here for 7 days. Rooms are big and comfy. Tile floors so bring your slippers. Bathrooms are nice size. Showers are great. They have nice products in the bathroom. They offer a nicebuffet breakfast in the restaurant but you can also get made to order breakfast. Lobby is nice to kick it and chill but depending on when you go, you might become a buffet for mosquitoes. There is a room next to the outdoor lobby area and it's comfy and a great place to hang out. The rooftop pool is amazing and the views from up there are phenomenal. Pool area is the perfect place to hang out and drink. Internet connection could be spotty at times but wasn't too bad. Front desk was very attentive to any of our needs. Staff was extremely accommodating. Nice hotel to stay at inside the Walled City.

ANJLI SHAH: My husband and I stayed at Bastion for 4 nights. It is definitely not a “luxury” hotel for following reasons- as soon as we were allocated a room we realised the air conditioning unit was not working. The workmen did come and sort this out.We then realised our sink was getting clogged up and the water was not draining. This caused a sewage smell in the bathroom. We did let the manager know about this and he assured us it would be dealt with whilst we were sight seeing. Nothing seemed to be sorted. After 2 nights of sleeping in this room and finally making a fuss at reception they did change our room as they said the sink problem could not be sorted. However the second room we were allocated had a broken toilet roll holder, broken tiles on the bathroom floor, the shower wasn't draining quick enough hence was overflowing, the room telephone wasn't working. We did complain to the manager but he didn't seem to be too bothered. The room was definitely not fit to be allocated to a guest.- Breakfast was mediocre for a 'luxury' hotel! There were insects (fruit flies) all over the fresh fruit and the staff didn't seem to be bothered by it.The hotel is in a good location, slightly away from all the hustle and bustle but yet close enough. However I would recommend other hotels in the vicinity which are probably cheaper but have better service and rooms.

Cookie Maldonado-McQ: We have had a wonderful time at this boutique hotel. From the minute we checked in we felt at home and safe! I read reviews in past and have had no issues what so ever . Sergio on operations was amazing as well as all the lovely ladies at breakfast and the bar area. Rooms cleaned in a timely manner. 2 things to remember, bring bug spray if you are prone to getting bitten and sewer system can be delicate and so tissue is recommended to be placed in trash can which took some getting used to. I would stay again. Breakfast included is lots of variety and great juices!

I have no complaints about the massage, but I do have a lot to say about the care and poor communication and misinformation that exists between workers. That day we chose several things from the menu and then they charged us a different value because the menu no longer had those prices but they had not changed it on the website, the solution was to give us two lemonades which we did not even drink because we were super full.Last week I wrote to schedule a massage for a gift and they shared a letter with some prices on Instagram, to schedule they asked me for the information since they had to communicate with me from reception, when they wrote to me from reception, they sent me a totally different letter , the prices with a variation of 40,000 pesos, I told them that this was not the letter sent at the beginning and they simply said that this was the price, period. Not even to assume his mistake and give a courtesy drink so as not to lose the client.I'm sure the administrator or manager is not aware of this situation, because I don't think they would allow something like this to happen.
Gini Standard-Sheader: This place definitely isn’t a 5 star hotel. It’s probably a 3 star property. The staff were nice and our room was ok but it had a weird damp smell to it and the bathroom was tired and felt dirty. We also got woken up at 4:30am by a very drunk guy blasting music for 2 hours.
Parviz Tehranfar: In general hotel was good, but they charged us 177,000 Peso extra and when we asked about it, the staff told us that it is tax. We paid the extra amount but one of our friend in group knows Spanish and discuss with them and they confirm it is not tax and it was insurance of our luggage which is optional and they added to our bill without our permission. As soon as we complained they returned $126400 Peso. I believe they are cheating in this way and get more money from the guests. If it wasn’t for such rude front desk staff, I would give your Hotel four out of five however We had such horrible experience checking in and it was all due to Jorge the front desk attendant and self proclaimed manager . So you get only 1 star. Jorge was so rude and not accommodating that it Made the entire stay a huge regret . I will explain the situation, we (my dad mom , gf and myself ) are visiting Cartagena for Easter , we are US citizens, we have lived in United States for over 35 years. We also happen to have dual citizenship in Columbia. Upon checking in Jorge explained that we would have to be charged as Colombian residents which means an additional tax would be added to the bill. We explained to him. We are not residents of Colombia, We live in the United States and we provided him our American passports and more to make our case. he was persistent in saying there’s nothing he could do and we will have to be charged extra tax. This is not true , he could’ve take used OUR US passports but he chose to be unhelpful and rude during the whole exchange. Additionally, We were traveling with my girlfriend who is a US born citizen. We requested/ stated she would be paying the bill and reservation to be under her name. Jorge refused to put the reservation under her name and he professed hotel /he could not waive the Colombian resident tax because there’s four of us and we have two rooms so it can’t be one reservation .. huh that doesn’t make sense at all ..right ? . We said if she is paying with her credit card for both rooms and she is a US resident and citizen , we don’t understand the complication with our request and why he can’t help. Jorge why did you choose to not accommodate us ? What do you have against colombian ex-patriots ???Jorge got his general manager on the phone, and we asked to speak to Diego the GM but Jorge ignored us and finished the call with out Putting us in touch with GM.At this point we already felt like we were treated rudely and didn’t even want to stay in the hotel but had little options sitting at check in with our bags. We told Jorge. if the hotel cannot honor and recognize that the tariff should not be charged because we have a US citizen who will be paying the bill then we will search for another hotel. Jorge essentially said, good luck, and did not waver whatsoever. We find this to be horrible customer service, he was rude throughout the whole process, and he said he is the top authority on the matter . He then called his boss, and while he was on the phone with his boss, we asked to speak to him, he ignored us, and did not give us the opportunity to speak to a Diego the GM. Upon reading past google reviews, we find that Jorge was rude to other customers as well to no surprise, please check the google reviews for months back from this review from somebody else that had a bad experience and names Jorge as the antagonist. We will never stay in this hotel again and it is because of Jorge. We will let everyone we know about a bad experience, and we will be posting reviews on every forum possible from Yelp to Google to Tripadvisor. .Solution, we stayed one night and checked into the hotel two blocks down.. and guess what , they didn’t charge the Colombian resident tax as we are not Colombian residents. I’ve had an incredible trip so far up up until the arrival at the Ananda hotel. Upon check in , The front desk manager Jorge was so rude to my boyfriends mother and myself , I absolutely couldn’t believe it. I don’t post reviews very often, but the experience was so horrible that I feel the need to warn other travelers and save them from booking this hotel. The hotel front desk manager if you can even call him that understands and speaks perfect English but when I asked to speak to his manager Diego that he was on the phone with he completely ignored me and ended his call abruptly with him. We ended up turning a thee night reservation into one night and booked a hotel few blocks away. Thank god because when I took a shower this morning, I come to find that not only is the hotel staff extremely rude, but the hotel does not have any hot water. No hot water in the bathtub and no hot water in the shower. Last night the only night that we stayed here my boyfriend attempted to take a bath and out from underneath the bath water was pouring out and essentially flooded the entire bathroom floor. and he couldn’t even take his bath because the water was cold this morning when I showered, I couldn’t even stay in the water for more than four minutes because it’s not lukewarm it’s not kind of cold. It was very cold. Almost as cold as Jorge’s heart was when we were checking in. Upon reading reviews on Google I found that Jorge has been a problem for other guests as well. The only positive experience we’ve had so far at this hotel was the breakfast service and food was good. But the bathroom experience was quite horrendous and as I previously mentioned, the check in procedure was extremely dissatisfied. As I mentioned above, I am not the reviewer, but I feel it is my duty to contribute to the community and help the hotel owners, as well as other future potential guests know about the shortcomings of this property and staff.Noteworthy details: $600 per night and no hot water and rude staff . Alexander Tarrant: We booked a superior room for two nights. We were immediately unhappy with the room - the noise from outside the room was loud, there was no hot water, the toilet didn't flush and there was no natural light.We asked for another room and were told there weren't any available on the first night, but there would be on the second. So we never unpacked.The noise continued until late at night (12am) and we were woken by staff noise (cleaners and pool staff) around 6am. There was also construction noise the other side of the wall that was unbearable.We went to the front desk expecting to move rooms but were told there weren't any available. The staff felt detached from any empathy and we were treated as you'd might expect at a hostel. Totally unprofessional and a very low quality experience.Avoid if you're looking for a pleasant or luxurious holiday.
Bridget Kiley (Bridge): We loved our stay here!!! Great staff, beautiful rooftop views and beds for lounging, breakfast included, really enjoyed the pool at the ground level and top roof level. It can get noisy at night with outside music and rooms opening up to main areas but that’s to be expected. Hope to be back in the future!

Amaury BRIANCON: Very bad experience with the staff at the entrance who was very rude. Jorge in particular. Rest of the the staff was very nice though.We ordered water for the breakfast and they made us pay the bottle without telling us!! The gesture is incredible.Also they market a very nice rooftop with a pool. But it was in renovation and no one told us. They have another small pool but hard to use because everybody was packed there.Having issues happen but the way they communicated about them where very bad unfortunately.

mariano bruzzon: Excellent place to spend a few days in Cartagena. From the first moment the friendliness and hospitality of the staff stand out and give an extra plus to the entire stay. The breakfast is very rich and of very good quality. Although Cartagena is a noisy city, the interior of the hotel is very quiet despite being located in the historic center. Highly recommended!!
Ana Gonzalez: We absolutely loved our stay here, and we would go back as the experience was great. The location is great! The costumer service is fantastic, everyone was so nice and helpful. Always giving us great advise, and recommendations for places to visit, and things to eat. They were all super attentive, and they have 24/7 front desk support.Location: The hotel is located inside the walled city, on the Centro Historico. Steps away from the Torre del Reloj. It's actually walking distance to everything, including Getsemani (at least it was for us, and we were there with my mother). You can find great restaurants, discos, icecream stores, shopping and pretty much anything around it. However, please be aware that with it's centric location you will also see and hear a lot of movement around it, so if you are a light sleeper, take notice. It did not affect us at all, as we are deep sleepers, so the centric location was great for us!The reception: When you get to the hotel, they welcome you with a complimentary drink, which was very delicious. The place feels as if you had stepped through a time portal, and went back to the colonial times. So cool. They offer free coffee, books that you can borrow, and some binders with recommended tours and attractions. The front desk ladies that were in when we first got there, were supper attentive, and made the check-in process a super easy experience.Room: We stayed in the room called La Republica, and it is a beautiful room. It has a balcony to the main street full of flowers, a living room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms.The bedroom on the main floor of the suite offers a little more privacy as it has a door, however, we believe this is the secondary room, as the bed is smaller than the king size bed that you can find on the second floor. The bathroom here is slightly bigger than the one found on the second floor, however, please keep in mind that they are on the smaller size. The AC can be set at a lower temperature here as well, as the room can be closed off and has it's own AC unit.To get to the second floor, you will need to use the spiral staircase. The bed on the second floor is huge, and you can find the hair dryer there as well. The bathroom is smaller than the one on the first floor. The AC for this room is shared with the rest of the unit, so it can get a little hotter than expected. It is still nowhere near as hot as it gets outside (yes, Cartagena is VERY hot).Note: Because there is a balcony to the main street, the suite can get loud at night, however it has extra wooden doors that you can close on top of the glass doors, and that will help with the noise.Extras: The hotel offers free breakfast. We ate the breakfast at the hotel everyday, as the food was delicious. Things to know, the juice comes from very interesting fruits, my husband loved them, but I was not into them. They mostly change the juice per day. The bowls with fruits were very good, the fruit served is very fresh.There's a small pool on the second floor, same floor as the room we were staying in. It's very cute, but it is small. The water stays pretty warm as the weather in Cartagena is super hot. I loved it.There's a jacuzzi on the rooftop, you need to ask the front desk before using it, but it's beautiful up there. However, you do need to go up a more difficult spiral staircase than the one in the room. It was an adventure for me, but my husband and my mother did not find it difficult.The bedroom has a small fridge with water, beers, sodas and cold wine. These cost extra, but they are there in case you need it. We found the prices to be ok, but you can still find better prices on supermarkets or drugstores.Overall, we loved the place, we loved the staff, and we would go back as it was an awesome experience.
Walter Herbert: Couldn't be happier with the service by the staff, the breakfast, great room and the best location in the walled city 3 minutes from the Clock Tower square. A shout out to Karina who made everything excellent. We travel all over the world and are very experienced travelers and it doesn't get any better than this.Nearby activities: So many sights and shopping and restaurants within minutes of this location.Walkability: Best location in the walled city. Near everything.
Reb Yooper: Perfect hotel for experiencing Cartagena's Old City. The building is beautiful, historic, and well-maintained. Our second floor room was a two-level suite with the living area and bath on the lower level and a bedroom upstairs. Air conditioning is essential for any stay this time of year and ours worked perfectly. The entire hotel was immaculate which reflects well on the staff and management. Breakfast was a treat with tropical fruit and juices along with made-to-order eggs and sides. Despite its location in the heart of the Old City, the hotel was quiet at night with little street noise. All members of the staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. The Alfiz is the perfect representation of a "Boutique Hotel." Should we be lucky enough to return to Cartagena, we'll surely stay at the Alfiz.
Salvador Alvarez: A very nice boutique hotel.With very good attention from the staff.The rooms are very clean and beautiful.The relation price facilities very well.It is located exactly in the center and from there everything is within a few blocks.
Lin Jones: The hotel is in a beautiful old colonial era house with a lot of architectural details and antique furniture. It has a small pool (slightly bigger than a U.S. hot tub), and a courtyard. The room has high ceilings and simple furnishings. There are three rooms on the ground floors and maybe four or five rooms on the second floor. The rooms on the ground level facing the courtyard where the breakfast is also served. So it can be noisy in the morning and not for sleeping in. The room was newly painted a few days ago so it has the chemical paint odors. We ended up leaving the windows and door open to try to air it out. And the location is near major plazas, so I can hear the music from nearby venues. The breakfast is OK but I have far better breakfast at other Colombian hotels. I don’t think I will stay here again in the future.
c b: This hotel was one of the great hits of our 3 week stay in Colombia.The hotel itself is quiet and comfortable. A structure built in 17th century I believe.Staff were exemplary. My wife fell I’ll and the staff went out of their way, including making special chicken for her. Peter Klenk: An excellent location, everything in the old city and surrounding area is an easy walk. A pleasant breakfast is provided, the pool is a small but refreshing place to cool off after a day of walking. ATM, good food, all located nearby. I suggest a room on the higher floors if you don’t mind stairs. The first floor is a bit loud in the morning as doors open into courtyard where breakfast is served. If you are an early bird, this is not a problem. Staff is great; friendly and helpful. Rooms are large and have very high ceilings. Bed was firm but soft. Shower in our room was a large cement tub that you have to step over, but no problem unless you have mobility issues. The bedding and towels are very clean but had a detergent smell that may affect you if you have allergies. The pillows are plentiful and soft. Maid service each day and they do a wonderful job. Plenty of outlets for your charging needs.
