lourdes alonso sanchez: Casa BuGo is a special place to stay in Cartagena. In the center, but without hearing the night bustle. In 4-5 min walk you are at the clock tower. The small room but enough for 1 or 2 people and spectacular, both the bathroom and the room taken care of in detail. Views and direct access to the pool. The delicious breakfast and the attentive staff, always trying to guide or help you. For my part it has a 10 and I will return.

Primrose Thompson: Omg. This place is amazing. I just stayed here for a five-day group trip of almost 30 people and this guest house was incredible. They accommodated us so well. We got to play our loud music with no complaints. The staff tried their best to fit all of our needs and point us in the right direction. The rooms were incredibly clean and immaculately put together. Look, the place is just beautiful and the staff is incredible! It's close to so many attractions. It was super easy to catch a taxi from there and it's about 10 minutes from the airport. The streets near Casa Bugo are so beautiful as are the buildings, so it's a photographer's. I'm def going back one day.

Juan Carlos Vargas: Beautiful in pictures, but a nightmare can unfold if you book here: with barely 3 days left until our trip, the host allegedly did not receive a reservation made 6 months ago (and payed 6 months ago), and thus forced our 14 person group to cancel the reservation. 14 people suddenly with no place to stay in a city that is now booked by tourists arriving for Christmas season. Avoid at all costs (the host did not even offer apologies nor tried in any way to help remedy the situation. His answer: good luck finding someplace else to stay).

Jose Quijano: Cancels your reservation for higher bidders without telling you and leaves you in the street. We booked when things were still open and because of the owner's last minute cancellation we had to find a new place in high season. We had to pay more and it was a nightmare to find something with everything already booked.

The beds and pillows were extremely comfy, top quality.And then Alfredo, Geo & Piedad pampered us 7 ladies like queens; delicious breakfasts, every need we had was met, from groceries shopping, recommendations, little errands, home hairdresser and more. Alfredo is amazing and made our trip so easy. He is at the house 24/7 and attentive to all our needs. The food was amazing, the chef was wonderful. The staff was incredible ~ Carlos and Milton made sure everything was perfect. They kept us safe ~ and set up tour guides and reservations and even made sure we all made it back to the hotel safely. We laughed with them, and we hugged them. If you are ever in need of a wonderful place for a group or just a couple this place is perfect. We all fell in LOVE with Cartagena and we all want to go back already! ❤️❤️❤️

The architecture is from an old house in excellent condition with a very warm and pleasant atmosphere, the rooms are pleasant and the bed is very comfortable to rest. It is inside the walled city close to everything. If we return to Cartagena we would stay here again.

Michele Cantelo: Since I can't reply to the hotels response, I'll set some details straight here:- The rate was $120 on our end, not sure what the $40 is, but $120 is very normal pricing for a nice hotel in Colombia. This can be confirmed through a simple Google search. I also have never felt the need to call hotels directly to confirm bookings when I have an email from a reputable company confirming it and have paid already. It's never been an issue before.- I absolutely wasn't screaming. I was too confused to even be angry in the moment. I have no idea where the "famous" traveler thing came from. This is completely fabricated and laughable.- They did not explain anything about not letting others in because a family was there. That's the main thing that I complain about in the review - the total lack of explanation and hospitality. From the moment they opened the door, they were unpleasant, even before knowing what we were there for or allowing us to speak. It wouldn't have cost them a thing for the staff member to be friendly.- We booked through Hotels.com, not Expedia. But, as I said, the mistake was seen across *all* websites, so it's not surprising the hotel has this detail confused.----We booked this hotel through Hotels.com and arrived yesterday only for their doorman to be extremely rude and not honor our reservation. They made a mistake in their pricing (across all websites - every website had this price, Booking, Trivago, etc.) and priced it lower than their actual rate. At the door, they were rude, didn't even apologize for their mistake, and acted as if *we"* had done something wrong. They didn't offer to let us into the lobby to correct the mistake (we could have paid the full price) or even just to have a place to sit while we found a new reservation.They just left us in the street with all of our bags and nowhere to go due their mistake (it couldn't have just been Hotels.com, as the price showed on EVERY website the same.) Even people on the street were shocked by how rude the man who worked there was.It's one thing for a logistical error to happen. It's another thing to have a total lack of hospitality, be totally rude, and leave people stranded. I've travelled 20+ countries and lived abroad for 4+ years and NEVER experienced this sort of thing.

Erick Cuellar: If I could give Casa de Alba more stars I would! Andres, Thomas, Baker, Hernan, and Antonio took the best care of us. The breakfast was delicious and prepared exactly at the time we asked. Baker made amazing drinks (ORDER THE PASSIONFRUIT MOJITO!) The rooms are spacious, super comfortable, and AC works well. Hernan helped us with transportation from and to the airport and our covid tests. At night Antonio served as our personal tour guide to get us around and ensure we didn't get lost. I didn't expect the level of attention my girlfriend and I received. We were sad to leave, but excited to plan another stay in the future with Casa de Alba. Thank you for an unforgettable time.

Ty Allred: I stayed here with friends over a long weekend and we each loved it. The entire hotel is super clean. The rooms are very unique and come with a solid A/C (essential in the humidity of Cartagena). The hotel has two pools which were great to cool off/hang out in at the end of the day. The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating to any request that arose. Breakfast in the second floor dining room each morning was fantastic.The location in central Old Town Cartagena also meant that all bars/restaurants were within walking distance.I would 100% stay here again.

Casa de Alba is this gorgeous boutique hotel built in a historic house right in front of the cathedral in the old walled city.Location is unbeatable: You're walking distance from the best restaurants, clubs, cafés, and tourist spots in the old city.Class & décor: the owners have hand-picked everything you see in the hotel. the furniture, the art, the marble finishes... everything is tastefully chosen, and the collective impact is quite striking.The staff: the idea is that you will feel at home. The staff is professional and kind, and they add a lovely touch of human warmth to the experience.Food & drinks: top, top, top. You're welcomed with the best mojito (apparently the original recipe can be traced back to this house, which used to belong to Sir Francis Drake!). The in-house mixologist is a master, truly. And the meals were all delicious.Air conditioning! Don't take it for granted in the old city. And here you might actually freeze if you don't adjust it :)Do yourself a favor, and get this unique experience when in Cartagena!

Daniella Fast: Our Airbnb host was great and our suite was nice for the amount of money in which it cost. The pool and the view are great as is the location. The only thing that drops this from a 5 to a 4 is the staff and some of the building policies. The staff of the building were unfriendly and didn’t seem to like children. Some of the rules of the building were ridiculous. The gym, which I had never seen anyone use while I was here, was only open at certain hours which seems unreasonable given the variety in visitors’ schedules. 13 year old teenagers were not allowed to use the pool without parents present.

C Woods: Stayed here for 7 days. Rooms are big and comfy. Tile floors so bring your slippers. Bathrooms are nice size. Showers are great. They have nice products in the bathroom. They offer a nicebuffet breakfast in the restaurant but you can also get made to order breakfast. Lobby is nice to kick it and chill but depending on when you go, you might become a buffet for mosquitoes. There is a room next to the outdoor lobby area and it's comfy and a great place to hang out. The rooftop pool is amazing and the views from up there are phenomenal. Pool area is the perfect place to hang out and drink. Internet connection could be spotty at times but wasn't too bad. Front desk was very attentive to any of our needs. Staff was extremely accommodating. Nice hotel to stay at inside the Walled City.

Jordan helped find us reservations and hooked us up with a great walking tour with a local, Aura. Highly recommended. Only thing that I didn't like is they wouldn't heat up my leftovers. ANJLI SHAH: My husband and I stayed at Bastion for 4 nights. It is definitely not a “luxury” hotel for following reasons- as soon as we were allocated a room we realised the air conditioning unit was not working. The workmen did come and sort this out.We then realised our sink was getting clogged up and the water was not draining. This caused a sewage smell in the bathroom. We did let the manager know about this and he assured us it would be dealt with whilst we were sight seeing. Nothing seemed to be sorted. After 2 nights of sleeping in this room and finally making a fuss at reception they did change our room as they said the sink problem could not be sorted. However the second room we were allocated had a broken toilet roll holder, broken tiles on the bathroom floor, the shower wasn't draining quick enough hence was overflowing, the room telephone wasn't working. We did complain to the manager but he didn't seem to be too bothered. The room was definitely not fit to be allocated to a guest.- Breakfast was mediocre for a 'luxury' hotel! There were insects (fruit flies) all over the fresh fruit and the staff didn't seem to be bothered by it.The hotel is in a good location, slightly away from all the hustle and bustle but yet close enough. However I would recommend other hotels in the vicinity which are probably cheaper but have better service and rooms.

René Francisco Torres Jugo: The hotel is excellent to spend a few days and get to know Cartagena from the walled city. It is very well located. The hotel is not ostentatious luxury, very nice to relax in a quiet environment. The staff is very polite and oriented to make things easier. The truth is that it is a characteristic of Cartagena, everyone is very helpful and cheerful.Rooms: Elegantes y amplias, con vista hacia el patio interior muy bonito.Nearby activities: Muy céntrico, se sale a la calle y ya estás en un lugar histórico, solo hay que caminar para disfrutar de la ciudad.Food & drinks: El restaurante del hotel es supremo, la comida es exquisita, una noche me acerque a la barra del restaurante y me puse a hablar con uno de los cocineros, me sirvió un trago y conversamos, después de un rato me dice que el es el chef, yo que soy despistado me entero que mi nuevo amigo es uno de los hermanos Rausch dueños del restaurante y famosos en Gourmet Chanel.

Mo Gourrier: We had a great room next to the courtyard! The pool upstairs was wonderful with a bar and plenty of seating. The gentleman serving us by the pool was very friendly as well! The food and drinks were amazing.
