erika samaniego: The rooms are beautiful. The pool looks so much bigger in the photos, in reality it was small and one family with kids can take all the space of it. However they have a lot of space to sit and sip some drinks at the rooftop. The staff was kind and helpful. We arrived very early and left late in the afternoon and were allowed to remain in the public areas of the hotel and they held our bags while we explored some more of the city.Rooms: Big and cozy, nice view from balcony and great showers.Nearby activities: So many good restaurants and bars within walking distance. Getsemani is about 15-20 mins away walking.

C Woods: Stayed here for 7 days. Rooms are big and comfy. Tile floors so bring your slippers. Bathrooms are nice size. Showers are great. They have nice products in the bathroom. They offer a nicebuffet breakfast in the restaurant but you can also get made to order breakfast. Lobby is nice to kick it and chill but depending on when you go, you might become a buffet for mosquitoes. There is a room next to the outdoor lobby area and it's comfy and a great place to hang out. The rooftop pool is amazing and the views from up there are phenomenal. Pool area is the perfect place to hang out and drink. Internet connection could be spotty at times but wasn't too bad. Front desk was very attentive to any of our needs. Staff was extremely accommodating. Nice hotel to stay at inside the Walled City.

Jordan helped find us reservations and hooked us up with a great walking tour with a local, Aura. Highly recommended. Only thing that I didn't like is they wouldn't heat up my leftovers. I had it in the fridge and was so excited to eat it the next morning but couldn't.Walkability: Great location. Everything in the old town was about 15 min walk max.

ANJLI SHAH: My husband and I stayed at Bastion for 4 nights. It is definitely not a “luxury” hotel for following reasons- as soon as we were allocated a room we realised the air conditioning unit was not working. The workmen did come and sort this out.We then realised our sink was getting clogged up and the water was not draining. This caused a sewage smell in the bathroom. We did let the manager know about this and he assured us it would be dealt with whilst we were sight seeing. Nothing seemed to be sorted. After 2 nights of sleeping in this room and finally making a fuss at reception they did change our room as they said the sink problem could not be sorted. However the second room we were allocated had a broken toilet roll holder, broken tiles on the bathroom floor, the shower wasn't draining quick enough hence was overflowing, the room telephone wasn't working. We did complain to the manager but he didn't seem to be too bothered. The room was definitely not fit to be allocated to a guest.- Breakfast was mediocre for a 'luxury' hotel! There were insects (fruit flies) all over the fresh fruit and the staff didn't seem to be bothered by it.The hotel is in a good location, slightly away from all the hustle and bustle but yet close enough. However I would recommend other hotels in the vicinity which are probably cheaper but have better service and rooms.

Jenny Smith: Hotel Casa Lola was the perfect place to kick off our extended honeymoon getaway in Cartagena. A cross between old steam punk, colonial, and Eastern decor with beautiful water streams throughout the incredible labyrinth of the hotel - there was so much to look at and take in at every corner! We thoroughly enjoyed our daily delicious breakfast full of amazing/unique local fruit (+ more), top notch coffee (according to my coffee connoisseur husband) and friendly service - all included with the room, which is the best if you are a budget conscious traveler like myself. :-) The split level rooms with the bed up on the second floor and mirrors all over also made for a one-of-a-kind experience. A major highlight was the rooftop deck with the most incredible views of the city and interesting nooks and crannies galore - it was so quiet up there whenever we made our way on the roof, and we always wondered why more guests/people weren't around enjoying lounging in this hidden gem of a spot!Staying in the heart of Getsemani (a block or so away from the famous Cafe Havana, where we enjoyed a night out of live music and salsa dancing) was such a treat, and the staff were extremely helpful with coordinating drivers from the airport and down to our self-coordinated trip to the Aviary one morning. And of course the neighborhood is a full cultural/art immersion experience - the colors and energy of the nights are one-of-a-kind!

P Dora: This hotel has lots of potential but unfortunately leaves a lot to be desired with room for improvement.The hotel is decorated beautifully. The location is fine. Our room (4) was quiet. The rooftop is a well curated space. Breakfast was also plentiful and of a good quality - the staff serving breakfast were polite, as were the cleaning staff we encountered.My main issues with the hotel were as follows:• Some of the staff presented as unhappy throughout, in particular those facilitating check in and check out. As the first and last impression of the hotel it would not hurt to expend a bit of energy on a smile.• On our second day we spent roughly 4 hours on the rooftop pool during the day. Unfortunately, there were no staff present on the rooftop to take requests for drinks and food. There was no information on the bar indicating opening hours of the hotel bar. There was a sign that said to call down to make requests but this appeared to only indicate an extension number, not a full number. The hotel website indicates there is an app in which you can make requests but this did not appear to be working. Eventually we left the pool area and hotel to grab drinks and food elsewhere.• The hotel website and information leaflets make reference to happy hour every day of the week. However when we witnessed another customer ask about this he was informed that happy hour only happens Wednesday to Friday. It is unprofessional for happy hour to be marketed in this way if the hotel is not providing such an offer. This false advertisement led to us observing a rather uncomfortable exchange between the customer and the member of the staff on our first night. The member of staff remained polite throughout the exchange but a quality hotel would acknowledge their own mistake and offer the customer a one time discretionary happy hour offer. It is poor form of the hotel to put the member of staff in this position.• WIFI was hit and miss in both our room and on the rooftop.In summary, this is a hotel with so much potential but I would not return in a rush until improvements are made.

Dalí Dávila: The pool on the top floor is medium in size but very nice, the only drawback is that it is very windy and cold, but that is the same in all of Cartagena. The attention and cleanliness of the hotel is very good, I have no complaints about the site and I would return, transportation to the walled city is approximately 12,000 pesos.

John Barros: Well, unfortunately the place is what the reviews paint it to be. The facilities are a bit forgotten and the service is not the best. However, the rooms are very nice and comfortable. I believe that this hotel, with all its defects, fills a need and I even consider that I would repeat it. It is ideal for a weekend getaway where you will have a pool and beach. The price is very cheap so you could say it's worth it. Keep in mind that the beach is not attached to the hotel and you have to leave it, but it is a very short walk.

Its restaurant has a gastronomic variety and unparalleled quality in the area, with a successful culinary choice for all tastes. Although it is somewhat removed from the center, it has its own bus service that brings you to the area in no time. Its pool is incredible and its beach even more. They have their own access and beach bar. We enjoyed our stay like children, we will repeat for sure!

Yolima Sanchez: The all-inclusive plan is not really all-inclusive, in the reservation they do not indicate details that when you arrive at the hotel you find and damage the experience. Carolina Ardila: I had the misfortune of staying at a hotel in which I was unable to talk with the manager, and also charged me a tax that is only applicable for residents. Furthermore, they refused to accept my passport as proof that I am leaving overseas. It was an unpleasant experience overall and one I would not recommend to anyone looking for accommodation while traveling abroad.The first issue arose when trying to speak with someone in charge about my reservation; there seemed no way of doing this without having direct contact information or being able go through customer service on site. This made it difficult if any issues were encountered during stay because there wasn’t any reliable source available who could help resolve them quickly and efficiently.The second issue came up when checking in; instead of charging me what should have been due according their policy, they added additional taxes meant only for residents - something which should never happen considering that foreign travelers are exempt from such charges! To make matters worse they then refused my passport as valid proof needed upon departure - despite passports being accepted worldwide as standard official identification documents! The card, the booking and the address of the booking are also from overseas.Overall it has been an extremely unsatisfactory experience dealing with this particular hotel's management team and customer service staff alike; both lacked basic understanding about how these situations are usually handled meaning guests can be left feeling confused or frustrated by their policies . As such ,I cannot recommend staying here unless absolutely necessary given all the problems associated with its services . JR

I swear everytime we cam back our rooms had been cleaned with fresh linens and when had out personal items put to the side neatly. The breakfast was very good fill of fresh fruit. Nothing beat the roof top pool with a stunning view. Everything about our stay here was nothing short of amazing.
Jenny Smith: We had an incredible time splurging here for our honeymoon! We are usually budget travelers, so ending our trip with some class and luxury was a real treat. :-) The rooftop wading pool was a highlight and provided incredible views of the city and we were able to experience the most precious colorful sunset over the sea on one of the cloudless nights. The breakfast in the morning was also delightful, with so many unique/local whole fruits to choose from (we booked a room where breakfast was included, which was a great choice). Oh and there were fresh flowers everywhere that looked and smelled incredible! Hydrangea, lilacs, orchards - so much beauty everywhere.We stayed in the newer "Republican" part of the hotel - I loved the lavender colored walls and our shower had the best view of the city. We also enjoyed looking/sitting in the more historic colonial part of the hotel. There is so much to soak up throughout the surroundings, and the location is absolutely perfect - near the Old City wall/lookout and walkable to all of the shops and restaurants in the area. If you want to indulge a little bit during your travels, this the perfect spot to do so. :-)
Maridol Cecilia: The hotel has a good location, but when you arrive you go to the bar and the lady in charge had sports and couldn't authorize music. On Thursday we arrived on Friday we went to have breakfast and they told us that they are going to have a drink. I told her a mango juice yes it is sweet I asked for it with water and my husband with milk it was sour and I asked the young man if he could put milk on it to make it better and he said he couldn't, then we wanted to share a hot pot and I asked him if he could put the scrambled eggs on us The bill couldn't be made then and he didn't even bother, he gave us the bill as if nothing or an apology, much less, but we have a very high opinion of Guillermo the bartender and Marcela thank you very much but I would not return to this hotel 🤔Noteworthy details: I would not go back

Her customer experience skills are superb.We arrived a couple of hours before checking, she graciously provided a hospitality room for us to change our clothes. While we were out exploring the city, she had our luggage conveniently transported to our room and emailed me. I appreciate the level of service she provided!Rooms: We booked a suite and it was just what we needed; 2 rooms 1 master and 2nd room with 2 twin size beds. Balcony overlooking the water. The pullout couch was super convenient for our family of 5 and the room was spacious.Safety: One of the reasons we decided to stay at the Hyatt was for safety purposes. We have stayed at the Hyatt in other countries and felt extremely safe.I like the idea of having to take 2 sets of hotels to get tothe room. This provides a layer of security bc you gave to go to the main lobby to access the room elevator.Walkability: The hotel is conveniently located in Boca Grande, next to a mall with many shops and in front of a grocery store. It's a couple of mins away via Uber to the Walled City.Food & drinks: We had room service, the food was good and priced reasonably. The drinks by the pool were amazing. We ordered mojitos and they were great!

Jay Peralta: I had such an amazing stay at this Hyatt for a 6 day trip to Cartagena. The views are gorgeous, though it is such a shame the beach is being completely rebuilt so during our stay we just saw construction every day by the water. The service was exceptional and the restaurants were all great. All of the pools have a great view and are never too busy.

Carmen Morawska: This is such a special hotel. The common areas are beautiful, and it has definitely kept its colonial charm whilst feeling very luxurious.The room was comfortable and well equipped. The only issue is we had a desk semi-blocking the door, so accessing the balcony wasn’t easy. It’s also worth noting that it’s quite noisy at night. Not the hotel’s fault as it’s coming from the street below, but for the rooms that face the road, maybe they could offer earplugs.The shower did not get very hot for very long and the old shower head means the water sort of splatters in weird directions, but it wasn’t terribly inconvenient.The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating.

Our room—#1– was lovely, quiet and peaceful with high ceilings and a large bathroom. The common areas are beautiful and stylish. The rooftop pool was perfect to relax at. But most importantly, the level of service was so good, we felt like we were staying at a private Villa. Every morning, fresh coffee with hot milk was waiting for us before our run. Breakfast, which is included, was delicious. See photos below. For the price, you cannot beat the level of service or room amenities. We highly recommend this 6 room hidden gem. Amanda Houlis: I ran into this hotel because the power in town went out and I had a huge virtual workshop that I was leading. They let me in, gave me the wifi code (as they had a generator), and were incredibly kind to me all day. I spent the day working and the facilities were kept immaculate. The common bathrooms were cleaned and serviced what felt like every hour. The staff were all super friendly, warm, and gracious.
