Soma Yoga Cartagena: what do users think?
Shea Frederick: I contacted Sol to host a private class for my birthday. Her class was the perfect way to start my day. Super kind and a great teacher! I highly recommend her if you’re in Cartagena! Thank you, Sol! 💜
Jeff Parsons: Sol is well-named! She brightened up my yoga soul!I wish she was teaching more classes each day; I would take them all!Thank you, Sol! I hope you get to walk the Camino and climb Angel's landing in Zion NP.Sun is aptly named! She brightened my yoga soul!I wish she was teaching more classes every day; I would take them all!Thank you Sun! I hope you can hike the Camino and climb Angel's Landing at Zion NP.
Jennifer Cruz: I had the opportunity to have one yoga session with Sol and the only thing I regret is that I could not stay longer in the city to have some extra sessions with her. One of the best instructors I've ever had!
Joshua Stega: Studio was a little hard to find as it is located in the courtyard behind Juan Valdez coffee shop. The vinyasa class was great, well instructed in both english and espanol. The studio is small but well setup (pretty full with 6 people). Enjoyable class, I will be back.
Corynne Lurie: I did the 3 day retreat with my Mom. I cannot say enough positive things about this experience! The island was beautiful, communication was amazing beforehand and we had the most relaxing time. Our instructor, Sol, was a fabulous teacher. The meals provided by Ligia were fabulous. The house and bedroom view was amazing, as was seeing all the animals in the Oceanario!! If you are looking to rejuvenate and feel refreshed, I highly recommend this retreat!
Alan Kollins: Nice intimate studio, easily accessible by bus. took one vinyasa class while visiting Cartegena. Sol lead a fantastic class, leading through major postures and a few unique variations. She is willing to instruct in english for gringos. Highly recommended!note: there is no street signage. you'll need to head inside via a lobbythat splits two restaurants.
the finder: Just amazing, Sol was a great teacher! Drop in is allowed but drop an email to let her know
martin Masser: An amazing lesson, Sol was such a great teacher, one of the best I've had. Really knowledgeable and very clear (both Spanish and English) If you are getting a taxi from the old town best to tell them to head for the KFC, it's 7k cop.I highly recommend it, if you are into your yogaSol even waited with me until my taxi came - couldn't ask for a better teacher! Just wish I was having more lessons
Tess Oriol: Fabiana and Sol are fantastic. I came to Cartagena as an expat looking for yoga classes and I couldn't have been more lucky. I have been receiving classes from Fabiana for more than a year and I feel that I have learned so much... Her classes are always different, special, and she knows how to take care of each one of us. He knows us and helps us. Sol has taught my daughter classes and has taught her to love yoga since she was a child. Always grateful. Happy to have found them. Namaste 🙏🏻
Marianella Manzur: Soma Yoga Cartagena has been a life changing experience. Sol and Fabiana were not only incredible hosts, but also great professional yoga teachers. The opportunity of being on an island in the caribbean plus the mindful experience of yoga exceeded all my expectations. I would go once a year if I could and I would highly recommend this retreat to everyone! Visit them and see for yourself. ;)
BMCinCTG: Fabiana & Sol are the dream team! Their different backgrounds and teaching methods compliment each other 100% and let you experience a yoga journey unlike any other! Both of them guide you through the class(es) and you’ll find yourself spiritually, physically and emotionally inspired, challenged and in places you didn’t know your mind, body and soul could reach.💛

Enrique Gonzalez: It is a magical place embedded between nature and the landscape, shading the memories that will live forever in dreams and memories forever.
Erika Gitterle: I love it. It is a magical oasis, unique in Cartagena, ideal for the well-being of the body and soul. Love and dedication are noticeable in every detail. Ecological and coherent. All your beautiful people. Excellent!
Zunny Angarita: Namasté is a magical place, excellent facilities and unparalleled service. There we can experience unique moments to connect with our Being and expand in love and gratitude ✨
Denis Cardenas: It is a magical place, from the moment you arrive and enter all that immense energy of peace, joy and well-being is contagious. From its facilities through all the staff they make you feel that unique vibration !! Thank you thank you thank you
Kristy Ellis: what a magical place to disconnect (and connect to what’s important). so wonderful to find an option devoted to health and well being in Cartagena. Their monthly medicine ceremonies are also super recommended!Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Mercedes Amelia Rizo: A break from the chaos of life to relax, be in contact with the land, the sea and nature. Unbeatable hosts, friendly and dedicated service, activities for the body and soul. Better impossible! thank you namaste
Luisa Aristizabal: Nothing better for the body and spirit. A charming place where you really disconnect, and let yourself be surprised by all its comforts and holistic activities. The food cannot be richer. The beautiful rooms, tasteful details in every corner. It is a gift that everyone has to give themselves a couple of days of contemplation and rest.
RAPHAEL ARMANDO PLAZAS VARGAS: It is a place that has it all, good food, the view and its beautiful and impeccable facilities, the yoga, meditation and fire ceremony activities make you grow physically and spiritually...
William Lozano: The place is unbeatable! It is the earthly paradise! The gardens, the little birds, it feels very natural but with all the comfort of a first class hotel. Holistic activities make the stay an unforgettable moment. The food is great, and the beach club facing the sea is very comfortable, a luxurious experience.Ideal to disconnect and take a spiritual experience as a gift, doing yoga, meditation and the fire ceremony is spectacular. All the staff are super friendly, they make you feel like family.
Lina M Velez R: A place to disconnect and fill your heart with a lot of beautiful energy
Portal Ophir: Spectacular!!!!! 100% highly recommended!!!
Carl B: Don’t understand the good reviews here, waste of money & time. Reserved for 7 people and nothing to lie or relax on except for one swing. There is a tiny access to the sea but no beach, we got non-stop bothered by people trying to sell us something and the smell of gasoline from the boats & jetskis was unbearable. Food was okay but too expensive, massage was meh and then we got rushed out. Went to other islands further out (eg Rosario) and had a much better time
Adya Maddox: lots of experiences in Cartegena seem to be based on skin color so going to say that we are a group of five black woman. We came over here for a day trip. They first tried to put too many people on the boat coming over here and wanted 4 people to sit in rows clearly for 3 people. When we arrived to the beach club we were given pretty cold welcomes by staff and it was difficult to get service. Only one of the waitresses was even nice to us so thank you to .. for your service. Everyone else was pretty rude. If you’re going to advertise drinks that come with a meal you need to specify that you can only get the drink that the hotel chooses to give us. That’s called false advertising. In addition it was also stated that the environment would be free from buying pressure. But there was pressure from vendors the whole day and were very disturbing to the peace The whole reason we chose this experience was to have a break from the vendors. So I feel like we overpayed for nothing. Just go to castillogrande and barter with the lanchas to get a fare over to Tierra bomba and go to any chill bar. Way better than wasting money for an experience that was not as advertised. Also Namaste I’d like your establishment to be aware that pesos from Black people and white people are the same so you need to treat us the same. Ridiculous.
Ana María Buitrago: The place is beautiful, the view spectacular. The whole team makes your stay something special. Thanks to John and Ever for their kindness and to the entire team of masseusesExcellent place to rest and disconnect
GS J: Excellent attention, very good place to spend several days. The cabins are excellent, it has a sea and a swimming pool as well. Various activities such as yoga and fire rituals.
Ma. Camila Carrasco: perfect rest
Gabi Misiuly: I loved staying at Namaste. The yoga, meditation and the fire ceremony was really powerful and grounding. Good choice of food. The staff is friendly and really care about the satisfaction and good experience - but also not too intrusive. I am already looking forward to going back next year for few nights. Also, whoever is complaining about the beach and water - it is true it is not idealistic clear blue water, but still nice blue water. I loved it. The private beach access is nice and looked after. Also, the whole resort is peaceful and you feel connected to the nature - which I really enjoyed. Overall, really good and beautiful experience and looking forward to coming back next year! Also, I don't speak Spanish much. The staff members translated meditation and ceremony - which was really nice. I really appreciated that and now on a mission to learn Spanish haha

Bastión Luxury Hotel: what do users think?
erika samaniego: The rooms are beautiful. The pool looks so much bigger in the photos, in reality it was small and one family with kids can take all the space of it. However they have a lot of space to sit and sip some drinks at the rooftop. The staff was kind and helpful. We arrived very early and left late in the afternoon and were allowed to remain in the public areas of the hotel and they held our bags while we explored some more of the city.Rooms: Big and cozy, nice view from balcony and great showers.Nearby activities: So many good restaurants and bars within walking distance. Getsemani is about 15-20 mins away walking.
James Lammerding: Truly wonderful experience. Jorge was very welcoming and attentive to everything I needed during my stay. Front desk staff was very helpful.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Tim Cummings: Excellent hotel within easy walking/Uber distance to most sites/shopping/restaurants. Staff was great & most spoke some English which was helpful because of my limited Español.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury …More
C Woods: Stayed here for 7 days. Rooms are big and comfy. Tile floors so bring your slippers. Bathrooms are nice size. Showers are great. They have nice products in the bathroom. They offer a nicebuffet breakfast in the restaurant but you can also get made to order breakfast. Lobby is nice to kick it and chill but depending on when you go, you might become a buffet for mosquitoes. There is a room next to the outdoor lobby area and it's comfy and a great place to hang out. The rooftop pool is amazing and the views from up there are phenomenal. Pool area is the perfect place to hang out and drink. Internet connection could be spotty at times but wasn't too bad. Front desk was very attentive to any of our needs. Staff was extremely accommodating. Nice hotel to stay at inside the Walled City.
Erica Chew: We spent 5 spectacular days there. The pool was great and the sunset views were stunning. Jorge gave great recommendations of things to do in town. Jordan helped find us reservations and hooked us up with a great walking tour with a local, Aura. Highly recommended. Only thing that I didn't like is they wouldn't heat up my leftovers. I had it in the fridge and was so excited to eat it the next morning but couldn't.Walkability: Great location. Everything in the old town was about 15 min walk max.
Craig R: Great location with full breakfast included. A full spa. A short walk to most parts of the city. Rooftop pool/bar with amazing service (Janner/Jorge are the best!). A quiet oasis away from the busy city below, with its own unobstructed sunset views.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great view, Quiet, Great value …More
ANJLI SHAH: My husband and I stayed at Bastion for 4 nights. It is definitely not a “luxury” hotel for following reasons- as soon as we were allocated a room we realised the air conditioning unit was not working. The workmen did come and sort this out.We then realised our sink was getting clogged up and the water was not draining. This caused a sewage smell in the bathroom. We did let the manager know about this and he assured us it would be dealt with whilst we were sight seeing. Nothing seemed to be sorted. After 2 nights of sleeping in this room and finally making a fuss at reception they did change our room as they said the sink problem could not be sorted. However the second room we were allocated had a broken toilet roll holder, broken tiles on the bathroom floor, the shower wasn't draining quick enough hence was overflowing, the room telephone wasn't working. We did complain to the manager but he didn't seem to be too bothered. The room was definitely not fit to be allocated to a guest.- Breakfast was mediocre for a 'luxury' hotel! There were insects (fruit flies) all over the fresh fruit and the staff didn't seem to be bothered by it.The hotel is in a good location, slightly away from all the hustle and bustle but yet close enough. However I would recommend other hotels in the vicinity which are probably cheaper but have better service and rooms.
Maria Hernandez: 10/10 I would definitely come back and enjoy it again. From the decor to the service every details is thought to make it specialFood & drinks: The ceviche is amazing
Laura Patricia Támara Muñoz: Excellent service and attention. We marriedIn the Santo Toribio church, and arrive walking to the church. Very convenient they decorated the room on the wedding night and they were very special
René Francisco Torres Jugo: The hotel is excellent to spend a few days and get to know Cartagena from the walled city. It is very well located. The hotel is not ostentatious luxury, very nice to relax in a quiet environment. The staff is very polite and oriented to make things easier. The truth is that it is a characteristic of Cartagena, everyone is very helpful and cheerful.
Mo Gourrier: We had a great room next to the courtyard! The pool upstairs was wonderful with a bar and plenty of seating. The gentleman serving us by the pool was very friendly as well! The food and drinks were amazing.

Lorena Serrudo: Hotel that does not stand out in many of its services, the normal room, it had a window but it did not open, there was no ventilation, the breakfast was good but nothing had a name, the waiters did their job without desire, one of the times I entered breakfast There was a cook or so I imagine because he had a kitchen uniform, they were chatting with another waiter, very comfortable at home, leaning against the wall, it seemed very unfriendly to greet the guests with that posture, since they were at the entrance to the breakfast room The regular reception.

Cartagena Connections: what do users think?
Katie Fisken: Cartagena Connections is such a fantastic way to see the city and experience the local culture. Kristy is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced in all aspects of the local community and that shines through on her tours! I attended the street food tour and I cannot recommend it enough! If you're wanting to dabble in street food and learn the local ways then this is the tour for you! More broadly Cartagena Connections is the one stop shop for info on all of the best spots in town!
Kristi Vanskiver (Whisky Wanderlust): Kristy was an amazing guide and extremely helpful when trying to accomodate our vegan friend on the street food tour. There is really limited options for a vegan but she really made us all feel welcome and included. She is a wealth of knowledge on history and culture of Cartagena and makes the information fun and engaging. I really couldn't recommend the tour more. It's way more than just a food tour!
Matt Gould: Went on a street food walking tour and I cannot stress enough how amazing it was! A brilliant way to see the city, learn about its history and culture, AND eat amazing food. Kristy's energy is infectious...the food is delicious...and the city is beautiful. What's not to like?!
Sandy Kidd: Wonderful tour ! I did the street food tour, we tried plenty of stuff and also learned a a bit more about Cartagena's story. Highly recommend it !
Samantha Foster: We had booked a private street food tour in cartegena. Henry was amazing. He took us to multiple food carts and had us try the most amazing food, all while giving us great history of the city and different neighborhoods. It was the best part of our stay in Cartegena. Highly recommend this company!!
Hinga: If you are a person visiting Cartagena for the first time, Cartagena Connections is a must. Tour guide Daniel was awesome. He is very knowledgeable and he makes you feel at home. I would definitely recommend CC. If you want that local Dominican experience ask for Daniel.
Rose Zu: We took the street food walking tour, and we highly enjoyed it! The tour guide was friendly and accommodating (I had forgotten to mention my mango allergy at registration like I was supposed to). We were introduced to the local favorite stalls and spots that we never would have found on our own. Delicious tour, and we got to take some great photos of the colorful neighborhoods. Highly recommend the tour and this agency!
Valentina Calabrese: You arrive in Cartagena and book a tour hoping to know something about the city and its history. then you meet daniel and you not only know the story, but you feel the energy of the people, you experience the community firsthand and for this we thank him very much. he passed on his passion and love for cartagena to us! we highly recommend it!
Justin Friedrich: We booked two tours with CC and had fantastic experiences at each one. Planning our tours was hassle free and communication through WhatsApp was quick.Daniel showed us around the Bazurto Market, he shared history while showing us the market, sampling local fruit, snacks, and some hidden gems. We finished with lunch, which was some of the most delicious food we had during our trip to Colombia. We also booked a private boat tour of the Rosario Islands, where Ana helped coordinate our day and itinerary. She made everything so easy and since our group speaks very limited Spanish, she was well appreciated through out the day.Everything worked out so well, the guides were excellent, these two tours exceeded our expectations and were the most fun activities during our trip to Colombia!
Hollie Evans: What a cool experience! If you're lucky, Dan will be your guide. A super cool local with great vibes. He will take you to spots that you would otherwise walk right past and not notice. He will take you to try 2 types of arepas, empenadas, deditos and much more, beer included! Not only will you taste great food, Dan also tells you about the people, music, art, dance and history of cartegena l. honestly one of the best food tours we have been on, thanks so much Dan!
Greg Isaacs: We enjoyed an excellent street food with Daniel who is a rockstar! We learned about the history of Cartagena, tried 5-6 foods from street food vendors and toured several incredible neighborhoods. Would highly recommend. Thank you, Daniel.
John Smith-Ricco: Highly recommend the street food tour. Dan was an excellent guide for our private group of nine. Good mix of food, tour, history lessons. Also gave us a chance to see and explore some less “touristy” parts of the Old Town and Getsemaní
Anna Christine Brennan: We really enjoyed this food tour - plenty of food, although not as much as others I have done - you will still need dinner afterwards. We really enjoyed ourselves and Dan was great.
Luis Gracia: Great way to get to know the lesser traveled parts of Cartagena and especially AUTHENTIC food. I 100% recommend this tour, especially with Dan, his local energy and swagger are unmatched!
Larisa Tyshkevich: Sent an enquiry from the website about a transportation option to the Aviary. This option is clearly detailed on their website. The response I got via email was about the tour including beach time, lunch etc. I replied saying that I was not interested in the tour. They said fine they would look if the transport was available. Never got back to me. Update your website if not offering the service and don't waste people's time.
Elizabeth Grewe: Had the best experiences with Cartagena Connections! They set us up with a coffee tasting at Cafe Del Mural that completely changed how we thought about coffee. Unforgettable, delicious, very educational. Then we did a market tour with Dan, he was so friendly and knew the maze of the alleys and stalls well. Definitely go with a guide. Dan had great vibes and helped us buy produce. He made sure we got to try local juice and fruit and surprised us with a souvenir at the end, a customized poster from a local artist. Communication with March at CC before, during and after the experiences was friendly, responsive and helpful. Recommend working with them for all sightseeing and touristic needs!
Joyell Arvella: Terrible customer service. I received a response to my interest in the horse riding experience and never heard from anyone after that. I sent multiple emails confirming the experience I wanted, asked if it was still available and never heard back from anyone. Do not waste your time with this company. There are better ones in Cartagena.
J. C. M: We did the street food tour with Kristy, which was more of a street food + walking + history tour all rolled into one. Kristy was super knowledgeable about Colombian culture, the murals, the off-the-beaten-path neighborhoods, and everything in between. Highly recommend!!!
Katie S: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueCartagena Connections made my experience traveling to Cartagena solo amazing !Kristy is very responsive, informative , and ensures everything runs smooth!
Meredith Was: We spent two half-days with Kristy exploring Cartagena, and the experience was 10/10 excellent! We loved her tours because it feels more like a friend/local is showing you around the city, with insider info and local experiences, rather than a canned "follow the umbrella" tour. She knows all about the history of Cartagena and shares thoughtful insight, as well as conveying her love for what makes Cartagena so special! I'd absolutely recommend Cartagena Connections to anyone visiting this city!
Michael Müller: We had the steet food tour with Kristy and we were absolutely amazed by it.Kristy, living since years in Cartagena, does not only know all the best places to get street food, she also knows a ton of stories about the city itself, the different cultures, the current situation and how the people make their living, about murals, and and and...So this tour is not really about "the city was found in xy bla bla" but about the little details and also about how things and city spots are connected to the history and the people. The food itself was delicious and more than plenty. I did not count but we had like ten snacks, fruits and drinks. But warning: You need to be into fried stuff and cheese but when you are you will love this experience.

The staff there are incredible, every single one of them goes out of their way to make sure you have whatever it is you need, they really made our stay incredible. We stayed in the King Suite and it was really nice, clean, large room with high ceilings (on the second floor), great a/c, bathroom was nice and clean, and great views. There was a hammock out front on the balcony which was perfect for relaxing (only suggestion would be to have a second hammock or comfortable chair to lounge together). The location is great. Its very quiet there, not a ton to do (kayak, snorkel tour, paddle boards (for rent)) but if you're looking to disconnect and relax its the perfect place. The wifi worked well for us while we were there. The food was good, somewhat limited menu, but everything we had was delicious (octopus, ceviche, fish of the day, burger, chicken).Only thing to know is there is not hot water for shower and breakfast is pretty limited (fruit, eggs, cereal).Rooms: Really nice! Everything was clean, comfortable king size bed, good a/c, nice bathroom.Nearby activities: Kayaking, snorkelingFood & drinks: Food was delicious! We enjoyed everythign that we had (ceviche, chicken, octopus, fish of the day, burger). Breakfast was somewhat limited (cereal, eggs, fruit).Noteworthy details: The staff were incredible!! They were so friendly and helpful, i've never stayed anywhere with such nice people.
Yvana Marcano: Super bon service et belle plage.
maria yeske: A dream place, it came from magic. I would definitely return many times. The only annoying thing is that the saleswomen and masseurs torment you a bit, you have to be careful with that, because they drive you crazy. There are many activities to do, delicious food, an impressive view and super nice and good people.I loved!
Jose Tomas: Excellent beach and very good serviceIt is a beach with few people, good food and the sea temperature is ideal
Shruti Dharia: They sell a bigger picture than it is. We booked a king suite. What we got was a king bed with a twin bed in the same room. There was no hot water. There was construction going on. English was sparse so hard to communicate. The view was beautiful but the beaches are not great. Can't swim, lot of sea weed and rocks. water is murky. There is not much going on that beach either. You cant go for a long walk. They had only one restaurant with limited options. We had mentioned we are vegetarians and we would be taken care of, which was definitely not the case. The staff tried but they were extremely limited. Our experience was not the best. We had a great time in Colombia except here. It was Like being stranded on an island with a few people. I wish we knew what we signed up for.Noteworthy details: Definitely picturesque. Good staff.
Sandra Valdez: A true paradise to relax and have a great time in the Colombian Caribbean
Carmen Freed: Really a very nice place, a recommended getaway! The beach is very beautiful and with wonderful sunsets. The attention is very good and they are very concerned about every detail.Thank you very much for having us!

Hotel Las Islas: what do users think?
Nick Elias: AVOID AT ANY COST , AND CHECK YOUR BILL WHEN YOU CHECK OUT !GOT OVER CHARGED $700! TOOK ME OVER AN HOUR TO SORT IT OUT , OVER 8 CHARGES THAT WERE A "MISTAKE" !NOT SO MUCH A "MISTAKE" READ OTHER REVIEWS, SAMS EXPERIENCE.Private pool was like a swamp !Rooms: Private pool was like a swamp !
Anna Restrepo: The accommodations were amazing! We really enjoyed having bikes to ride around the resort as well as being able to call for a golf cart. We also really enjoyed the private beaches and excursions (snorkeling) that were offered. The spa massage was also amazing! We gave the resort 4 stars because the food was good but nothing wow-ed us. Overall, we had a fantastic get away here and would definitely recommend the resort!
Alison Brown: Let’s start with the good. The location is absolutely beautiful and the grounds are stunning. It has the potential to be a really wonderful hotel. Having a bungalow overlooking the ocean (#28) was so peaceful and serene. I also liked that you could call a golf cart to take you around, because many things were spread out (15 minute walk) which can be nice at times, but it’s also extremely hot and humid and the paths are not well lit at night. The food we had was also amazing, highly highly recommend the sea bass!! It was also neat to take the boat to the private island which had another pool, snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding, and a full bar and restaurant. Having cocktails while swimming in the warm ocean was delightful. The rooftop bar was also very cool and I watched a lightning storm for an hour one night while sipping on piña coladas. The not so great, which disappoints me to say, is that we were overcharged by nearly $600. When we checked out, there was over $300 worth of charges for things we cancelled or changed, and it took over 30 minutes for them to remove them. Our boat was departing so we asked for an itemized receipt to be emailed, which finally arrived 1 week later after asking for it 4 times, in which I found close to another $300 worth of overcharges. One of my massages was significantly overcharged and other random things like mini bar food was charged that we did not consume. Word of advice: DO NOT book through their website because you will NOT get a confirmation of how much you paid when you booked. In addition to this, when we arrived to our beautiful bungalow Friday evening for two nights, our pool was nearly empty. Upon 8pm, it was still not full. This was extremely disappointing, especially given the price we were paying. Our shower was also completely broken. Barely any water would come out, it was moldy, falling apart, and there were worms wriggling on the ground, and the hot water did not work the entire time we stayed in that room. Only a few hours into our stay, and we had multiple repair people there fixing things and they didn’t even fix the shower after spending hours in our bungalow. They also left tools in the bathroom.Saturday we asked to speak with the hotel manager, Eduardo, who was lovely. We had spent most of our time at the hotel listening to construction noise due to a remodel of some kind a couple bungalows over, which continued the entire weekend, unacceptable without warning or the option for a discount. We discussed getting to stay for one complimentary night at the private island to make up for our bungalow being unusable for the first night. It took them over 24 hours to figure out if this was possible, and honestly after two days of no showers, we were thinking we call it a loss and head home. We finally heard back that we could stay, so we moved our stuff to the private island and had a brand new bungalow for one night, which was lovely and very beautiful. Unfortunately you can only order room service from there, which is fine, except we were charged a tip for using the mini bar and we were charged for things we did not take.Overall, operationally, this hotel is a mess. They should not be renting bungalows that are inoperable with showers that do not function at $600 a night surrounded by loud construction noise. The stress of dealing with all the issues during our stay, and that I’m still dealing with nearly two weeks later, is unacceptable, especially at their price point. The fact that we were overcharged by $600 is also EXTREMELY alarming. If you decide to stay here, take photos of all receipts and plan to spend at least an hour upon check out making sure everything is correct and the price on your bill is what you were quoted.
Krista Frederic: Remote, beautiful resort for a quiet getaway. The bungalows are private and lovely whether in the trees or on the water. Recommend 3 days or so here to experience the resort and local offerings. Staff are very attentive and responsive but not overly so. Food is very good with a wide variety of choices for all meals unlike some similar resorts. Great value!
Nicolás Arízaga: Excellent hotel for a couple's trip. The Bungalow type room in the trees has a spectacular view and at the same time gives a lot of privacy. I recommend waking up at 6am and going to the top floor of the restaurant where dinner is served to watch the sunrise with the awakening of the birds and the iguanas that are in the treetops. The breakfast is very varied and has healthy options.
Pamela Carolina Muñoz Faundez: Wonderful hotel, ideal to rest and disconnect from the world. The restaurant menu is poor, but everything else is ok.100% recommended.
magda cisneros: The place is incredible, perfect to disconnect from everything and feel part of nature. I loved being there. The hotel is very large and you can get around by bike or golf carts. It has two private beaches and one of them has a very nice infinity pool.
Laura: It was peaceful, but with plenty to do. I’ve never been to a better hotel in my entire life. Additional to the cost of the hotel for the night, plan to budget for the activities, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. One of the best bungalows is number three 😉Rooms: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 4/5Hotel highlights Great view, Quiet …More
Radu Nan: We took a couples retreat to this resort while in Colombia. The property is isolated from the town of Baru and is set in a forest and along the shore. Our bungalow was set on the shore and had a private seawater pool. The setting is nice at first but lacked privacy. The food options were limited and mediocre. Staff were friendly. The location is too far from Cartagena and too expensive for the age of the resort and limited amenities.Rooms: Great views, lack privacy, old interiorSafety: Felt safe on property. The car ride is long and roughWalkability: Easy to walk and bike on propertyFood & drinks: Mediocre with limited menu
Izzy: Like others, I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the negative reviews. We stayed 2 nights and happily our experience was wonderful from start to finish. We stayed in one of the treehouses which was beautiful. Clean, spacious and a totally unique experience. You are essentially in the jungle canopy, so there will be a few bugs and lizards but that’s to be expected and wasn’t an issue for us at all. The hotel grounds and beaches are beautiful and well looked after. You can either cycle or walk between areas - it’s a big property but walking doesn’t usually take more than 15 minutes depending on where your room is and where you’re trying to get to. Alternatively you can call for a buggy. Staff are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The breakfast buffet is excellent and in one of the most magical settings right on the water. There’s a choice of fruit, hams, cheese and eggs as well as coffee and fresh juice. The lunch options are equally good - we particularly enjoyed the ceviche and gazpacho on the beach. Dinner was also excellent - we had the grill option, fish and pasta during our stay there and it was all delicious. Service was very good - we never had to wait long or re-order anything. The sky was too cloudy for stars but the guy went out of his way to focus the telescope on the moon which was amazing to see in such detail. The bar has amazing views over the property so definitely worth a visit too. You can also kayak and paddleboard or swim to the little jetty with deck chairs floating in the sea.I struggle to understand the negative reviews - it’s strange that experiences can be so inconsistent. I would say that it is an ecological resort in the jungle so be prepared to manage your expectations accordingly. The phone in the room didn’t work but they sent someone out right away and fixed it. The wifi can be a little patchy and we had some geckos and a monkey visiting our balcony but again, that’s the location. For us it was a magical experience and the perfect setting for our engagement. We will remember it forever. Thank you!
Ross Kirby: Don’t believe any reviews about this fantastic resort that fall below five star! The setting is idyllic, the staff are first class and the whole atmosphere is incredibly special. The hotel is immersed amongst beautiful wildlife and the beaches are private and serene. If you want an authentic yet luxurious experience, this is it.The bungalows themselves are very well kitted out and extremely comfortable. The food throughout the resort across each of the three restaurants is delicious and offers a great variety.Any review of this place that falls below 5 star suggests a high maintenance and uptight reviewer!Would 100% recommend and hopefully return!
Elvi Thio: This place cannot be more than a 2-star resort. We were a group of 10 girls with 5 separate bookings. It was a logistical nightmare (among many other things) and we met other guests during our stay who experienced similar issues / arguments with front desk. The property is immersed in nature, which is nice, but the amenities are not well maintained and the customer service is absolute TRASH. Initially chalked it up to language barrier, but oh man their defensive attitude, lack of training, and clear indifference towards helping out guests is shocking especially for a 5-star resort costing much more than average hotels in Colombia.1. They told us when we arrived that our 2-bedroom bungalow that we booked 3 months ago was under construction. No prior communication of this.2. They messed up the room assignments and switched two girls’ rooms - did not properly check passport names against their hotel booking system to know who booked what. Many girls arrived at a room they did not book. Then they blamed us for it lol.3. The spa is under construction so it wasn’t fully opened. The resort had many parts (paths + building new bungalows) under construction. A few of us woke up to construction noises.4. There is NO YOGA instructor on site (for more than a year already!). They said people bring their own instructors onto the resort? Didn’t bother trying to help us with contacts or figuring out how to find an instructor.5. The 2nd mini island was closed off on Saturday we were there for a private event. They didn’t tell us at check in. We planned our day around it and they only told us when we arrived at the lobby that we couldn’t go that day.6. One night while we were on the clubhouse rooftop they turned off the elevators and just told us it was broken.7. Things would just stop working. Our room’s phone and internet turned off for two nights, we had to go to front desk to ask them to fix it since we couldn’t call them. Also hot water doesn’t always work.8. Beware of the bungalows more inland. They get no air, no breeze. The stairs for these have no lights so it’s hard to go up and down.9. Bicycle wheels are deflated. We were a group of 10 girls with 5 rooms and a few of us had bikes with deflated tires making it hard to ride them.10. Massages AVOID KENNY AND AMALIA. Across ~10 massages our group got, no one enjoyed massages from these two. They just rub you and missed the neck and important parts of the body.11. Golf carts take forever to arrive. The property is big so you can call the lobby requesting a golf cart to take you to places, but it takes on average 20 minutes to arrive…12. They messed up billing… a lot. We each spent a lot of time at front desk double checking what we were charged. Lots of charges were on our bill, like 8 different spa services. When we made the booking at the spa, we gave each person’s room numbers, as we did when we signed checks at the restaurants, so not sure what caused the mixups still.13. They kept confirming with us the transportation bookings, then when we check later the booking would not be in their system?? Happened multiple times.14. Food sucks except the breakfast buffet. Ceviche wasn’t very fresh nor tasty. The one only restaurant for dinner sucks but you don’t have any other options. Best you can get is the beef burger or the curried quinoa.15. Service is SLOW. Expect to wait a long time for food. Order even before you get hungry because you will be by the time the food comes out.The nice things:1. Breakfast buffet is delicious, fresh and a great view while on this terrace space above water2. They provide insect repellant3. Free kayaking and paddle boarding equipmentThis resort needs to close for 3 months, train all the staff, finish construction, update the pool and public areas a bit, and then start fresh.FYI car transportation one way was ~330k Colombian pesos for an economy car and ~605k pesos for a van fitting up to 6pax. For a boat transfer, it was about $65 USD per person one way.For $450+ a night, it’s sooooo not worth it. Hard pass.
Nataly G: Such an expensive and luxurious hotel should offer a perfect experience and unfortunately it leaves a lot to be desired in one very important aspect: the food. For the type of hotel and the price you are paying for the stay, the breakfast is quite limited. I have been in much cheaper hotels that offer much more variety, quality and abundance in their included breakfasts. There is no free buffet for breakfast at Hotel Las Islas and the variety is quite limited. Also the coffee is ugly.In restaurants the food is very expensive and quite mediocre. The price of the dishes is excessive and the food is very ordinary and the portions are tiny. The experience with the food is so bad that it puts in doubt if it is worth staying in this hotel.Otherwise the hotel is fine. The bungalows are beautiful and the service is very good. The beach is good and there are few people and the atmosphere in the whole hotel is always silent. However, the value for money of the food is so bad that I would not return.Rooms: Preciosas.
Luzelena Zea Medina: A must if you want to rest and have a lot of peace of mind. I loved this hotel.
Tammy Dustmeit: Nice hotel, nice room, nice food and great service. Just certain things need to be fixed, ex. Not constant electricity(wasn’t major only out for like 2 seconds) and at first is difficult to navigate throughout the resort. But still great!
Alexander Gallego: Spectacular!Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 4/5 …More
Manuela Adrogue: The place is very cute. the beach is standard
Brenton Anthony: Firstly starting with the positives. The resort truly was beautiful, the fit outs of not only the rooms, but also the restaurants, bar etc was great. There is a small beach at the resort, but we preferred the beach in their private island (free boat transfers over and back from the resort). The food and drink prices were reasonable (beers COP 18k, cocktails between COP 45k-65k, mains between COP 80k-120k) and the food itself was really amazing…high restaurant quality. There are around 55 bungalows on site, but very well spaced out and very private, we could only see one other from our treehouse. The treehouse/room itself was also fantastic, great AC, huge bathrooms and a beautiful deck that overlooked the water. Also provided complimentary waterproof bag and sunglasses which was a nice touch.Unfortunately we found there were a few drawbacks, mainly around the service. There were multiple small issues that in isolation, are not a big deal, but just seemed very frequent and ended up quite frustrating. Some issues included:- minimal drinking water (were provided 2 x 300ml bottles at check-in but nothing thereafter). We asked twice for some water to be brought to our room, on the first occasion it took 4 hours, and 6 hours the next time (no joke).- Poor check-in experience, we weren’t provided any detail around food menus (only that they had them at the restaurants), eating times, mini bar, boat schedule etc…and was only on the second night we found out there was a QR code with all menus/guides/details etc.- bathroom supplies (body wash, shampoo etc) weren’t restocked once we ran out, same with towels and robe.- At meal times, inconsistency around service. Sometimes you would get coffee, eggs, napkins, cutlery etc sometimes not.- Wifi is poor throughout the resort, which is somewhat understandable given the location in BaruOverall, the resort is beautiful but for the price you pay, it is let down a little by the service. I think at a resort with a similar price point in Asia/Europe the service and little things would be far superior.
