Jenny Smith: Hotel Casa Lola was the perfect place to kick off our extended honeymoon getaway in Cartagena. A cross between old steam punk, colonial, and Eastern decor with beautiful water streams throughout the incredible labyrinth of the hotel - there was so much to look at and take in at every corner! We thoroughly enjoyed our daily delicious breakfast full of amazing/unique local fruit (+ more), top notch coffee (according to my coffee connoisseur husband) and friendly service - all included with the room, which is the best if you are a budget conscious traveler like myself. :-) The split level rooms with the bed up on the second floor and mirrors all over also made for a one-of-a-kind experience. A major highlight was the rooftop deck with the most incredible views of the city and interesting nooks and crannies galore - it was so quiet up there whenever we made our way on the roof, and we always wondered why more guests/people weren't around enjoying lounging in this hidden gem of a spot!Staying in the heart of Getsemani (a block or so away from the famous Cafe Havana, where we enjoyed a night out of live music and salsa dancing) was such a treat, and the staff were extremely helpful with coordinating drivers from the airport and down to our self-coordinated trip to the Aviary one morning. And of course the neighborhood is a full cultural/art immersion experience - the colors and energy of the nights are one-of-a-kind!

The rooftop is a well curated space. Breakfast was also plentiful and of a good quality - the staff serving breakfast were polite, as were the cleaning staff we encountered.My main issues with the hotel were as follows:• Some of the staff presented as unhappy throughout, in particular those facilitating check in and check out. As the first and last impression of the hotel it would not hurt to expend a bit of energy on a smile.• On our second day we spent roughly 4 hours on the rooftop pool during the day. Unfortunately, there were no staff present on the rooftop to take requests for drinks and food. There was no information on the bar indicating opening hours of the hotel bar. There was a sign that said to call down to make requests but this appeared to only indicate an extension number, not a full number. The hotel website indicates there is an app in which you can make requests but this did not appear to be working. Eventually we left the pool area and hotel to grab drinks and food elsewhere.• The hotel website and information leaflets make reference to happy hour every day of the week. However when we witnessed another customer ask about this he was informed that happy hour only happens Wednesday to Friday. It is unprofessional for happy hour to be marketed in this way if the hotel is not providing such an offer. This false advertisement led to us observing a rather uncomfortable exchange between the customer and the member of the staff on our first night. The member of staff remained polite throughout the exchange but a quality hotel would acknowledge their own mistake and offer the customer a one time discretionary happy hour offer. It is poor form of the hotel to put the member of staff in this position.• WIFI was hit and miss in both our room and on the rooftop.In summary, this is a hotel with so much potential but I would not return in a rush until improvements are made.

I had to get loud with the front desk lady and act up to finally get my deposit back for a nasty pillow case that was not even used by us since the bedroom they claim the pillow was in was unused so that just means they never changed it from previous visitors xD funny right it gets funnier I booked a Penthouse and when I arrived for my keys its when they advised me that the pent house was not available after I made my booking directly through their website to avoid any inconvenience but they claimed they had to do remodeling to the hot tub mind you they put me in the very last floor to make me feel like the penthouse to enjoy the same views that the pent house offered but the pent house was above my villa and I heard people in the penthouse partying xD so funny right but I guess they had someone who was willing to pay them more than us. Adicional a ello realizaron un cobro de $50.000 cop por “late check out”; que posteriormente fue reembolsado después de una queja.-En 2 de los cuatro apartamentos a nuestra disposición; la clave de wifi fue desactivada en medio de la estadía con un tiempo de demora de respuesta de aproximadamente 2 horas en cada ocasión.-En la salida del último apartamento se encontraban las 6 toallas blancas; una de las toallas por error del hotel no tenía una marca del apartamento, la persona que hizo el check out decidió que la toalla no era de ellos y por ende debíamos cancelar un total de $30.000 cop por la toalla; de igual forma fueron reembolsados posterior a una fuerte reclamación a la oficina de atención al usuario.-Uno de los huéspedes de nuestros apartamentos por un importante problema de salud realizó un pedido a una droguería para su medicamento, la señal en el edificio es mala razón por la cual el domiciliario no pudo comunicarse de manera inmediata con nosotros para infórmanos de su llegada, razón por la cual le solicito al portero del edificio guardarlo para el número de apartamento correspondiente, el portero fue muy grosero con el domiciliario y lo saco del edificio.-En una llegada tarde a los apartamentos un huésped dejó caer su billetera a la entrada del edificio, cuando nos percatamos del incidente corrimos a buscarla; solicitando en primera instancia la grabación de la entrada del edificio (ya que se informa que se está grabando) a lo cual el portero dijo que hasta el siguiente día a las 8 am se podría ver. Posterior a ello al día siguiente los porteros dijeron que una persona desconocida había ingresado al edificio a entregar los documentos de la billetera sin el dinero o la billetera; cuando se solicitó la grabación de esta parte de la mañana, fue pospuesta para las 8 am del día siguiente; hasta que dejamos el edificio y ninguna grabación fue entregada.

JAF: If you are looking for a place that is walking distance to everything, great customer service, great breakfast, spacious rooms, and beautiful views from the rooftop, this is it, don’t even bother looking elsewhere. We were supposed to stay only 3 nights at this Hotel, and 2 nights in Bocagrande, we loved this place so much that we decided to stay at Sophias Hotel all 5 nights. What made our stay so special was the staff: Belky during our daily breakfast, she is simply the best, along with Julia and Jonny. Deiver, went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of, from checking in, looking how to accommodate our two extra nights and tours recommendations. We had such a great vacation in Cartagena, and this hotel was a big part of it. We would definitely be coming back. ,

Lina Suarez: Due to the misinformation of the hotel staff, I had to pay 718,000 COP of hotel taxes not applicable to non-residents in Colombia, which is my case. No correction on the part of the hotel, I asked to find out before checking out and no action on their part.The staff is friendly but too slow for the service, there is no availability of the dishes offered in the restaurant so the wait can be very long.I do not advise this hotel.

Jonathan Larrad: Very nice hotel in a very good location. Staff are very helpful. The pool on the top floor is a very nice rest bite from the heat.Breakfast is pretty good.We did have an issue with the toilet that they tried to resolve a few times but by the end I assumed it was an ongoing problem that they werent telling us as they never really fixed it and. I just ended up asking for a plunger. 😊

Matthew Demaris: Going to Cartagena? Stay at this hotel! The location is located in a quiet courtyard making it ideal to avoid the noise of the nearby clubs and bars. The pool has the best view and the rooms are spacious. Most importantly, the staff were incredibly professional and very very helpful. Thanks for helping us book a car to Barranquilla and for everything else. 5 stars in my book!

Priyanka Raheja: Probably one of the worst hotels we stayed in during our Colombia trip in terms of price quality ratio. Tiny reception, small room and awful sound proofing. At night you can hear doors banging constantly as people get in and out of their rooms and hallway noise echoes into the room as loud Americans shout in the corridors.We barely slept and left after one night. Beware that most of the reviews on here are for the rooftop bar, which in my opinion is the best feature of the hotel but still not the best one in Cartagena. There are many other boutique hotels you are better off staying in that are much better and at a similar price.To be fair to the staff, they heard our complaints and we ended up getting a 30% refund (which we still haven’t received)

Marie McFalls: Rooftop pool daypass is a must-do in Cartagena. The views are stunning, the staff is kind, and everything is very detail-oriented and relaxing. Price (at time of writing) was 220,000 pesos, of which 80,000 is consumable at the bar/restaurant.

In Qui: We went on December 31 to look for an option to have dinner and spend New Year's Eve, and Marjorie attended us; She was very friendly and cheerful, she made us feel welcome, she explained everything to us in detail, and she took us to see the terrace.Spending there at the end of the year and my birthday was the best decision since the food was delicious, the view was beautiful, the decoration was very nice and the live music was also 20/10.
