Evan Huang: Rude front desk staff. Bathroom super dirty all the time, water smells weird so the entire room smells horrible 24/7. Many of the beds had extremely bloody sheets, pictures attached. The big pool in the other building was closed my whole stay. The other reviews about the absurdly loud music are correct, they play music so insanely loudly on the roof for some reason. If there was some kind of event going on I could understand, but the music is like this all of the time. It is so loud that it’s impossible to just chill by the pool or even talk to someone. No social vibe at all, filled with older people working which is kind of expected at a Selina. My room was filled with Israelis who would wake up at 9am and start yelling to eachother. Overall horrible experience, and definitely not up to the Selina quality standard.

This Selina is the WORST hostel experience I've ever had in my life. Book somewhere else.---When we arrived at 6pm after a 14-hour travel day, their reservation system was down and they told us to just wait. They didn't do anything or offer anything in the meantime. We just wanted to shower, so I had them grab a few towels for us. I've worked in a couple of hostels during my travel days, and the least you can do is greet people and welcome them with some water or a dang towel when things aren't working. They were, however, super concerned about me paying, even though they couldn't get us to a room for over 1.5 hours. 😂We stayed in a Micro room with a shared bathroom. Luckily, we didn't have mold or bed bugs, like other reviews have shared... but the room was super humid and dank. No fans or circulation other than the AC, which would have been fine...But part of the city lost power and Selina's generator isn't powerful enough for the building. No lights or AC (or any way to circulate the air) from 2am-7am. I went down to reception four times during these hours to get updates and ask for a different room. There were other rooms where the elctricty was working. Ours wasn't. They refused to move us. We only were able to sleep from 7-11am, missing our included breakfast, so we had to go buy breakfast somewhere else.Half of the people at reception are always in a bad mood, stressed, and as if they can't be bothered. When I went to buy a water, the guy just shoved the card reader towards me without speaking. When the "tap" didn't work, he just shoved it closer to my face to show my it was refused. Didn't offer to try the chip. I feel like I had to guide everyone at reception to help them do their job better. Zero customer service skills, and it's not a language barrier.Upon check out, I told them we wanted a discount on the first night, as we didn't get anything we paid for. We couldn't sleep. We didn't get AC or power. We weren't allowed into our rooms until 7:30pm. Nothing went well. They refused and only offered a 10% discount after 15 minutes of conversation. Said their manager was in a meeting and they had to charge me.For $40 USD/night for a tiny, humid jail cell where the door brushes against the bed when you open it, this place is a total scam.Nobody ever responded to our WhatsApp messages either. It’s linked in the Selina app but nobody bothers to get back to you.-Bathrooms are moldy and not clean (no circulation or fans).-Toilet paper regularly ran out (shared bathroom) and nobody refilled, so I went to get some.-Music is obnoxiously loud in the lobby at early hours and all day at the pool. If you are a light sleeper, good luck.The only good thing is the food at the restaurant is actually pretty good and has some vegan options, just a bit pricy.

But when the shower drain started to clog they did help with getting it to drain properly.The coworking restroom could be cleaned a lot better. I tried to avoid touching the walls. More toilet paper could be provided as it frequently ran out. Sometimes the water wasn’t running in this restroom. The trash bin was not conducive to putting toilet paper there while using the toilet.When we first got there we were put in a room that was hard to breathe in. We felt like it had something to do with mold. We saw that the AC unit was dripping and covered in a black substance which we assumed was mold. We were thankfully moved to another room.It looked like a lot of mold was covered with paint and there was no proper ventilation to really prevent it in the bathrooms.One day we saw some staff inspecting a bed that looked like it had bed bug blood stains on them near our room so that caused some anxiety.

Since we were there for a few hours she had two, so the bill I was presented at the end was $30 for two shots. Then, when I went to pay, I was told the credit card machine did not work so I had to pay in dollars (since I did not have Columbian pesos). They gave me a really low exchange rate of 2500 to the $1, which is far below the 3000-3100 you get everywhere else.Finally, the “show” is about 10 minutes long. Then the next few hours consisted of the 5-6 dancers dancing with the audience. It is also very loud. I am not that old and this place is loud.Maybe you will like all this, but I thought I paid for a show?! After a few hours we left and never saw any “show” beyond the opening 10 minute performance.Maybe you will like all this, and can plan better (eg bring pesos, order more carefully, bring earplugs, etc) but we were disappointed. The waitress brings the picada and very kindly tells me that due to technical problems they couldn't fry the empanadas or the aborrajado, for this reason she changes them for papa criolla. Neither comparison empanadas and anorrajado by potato, but the value was maintained. I returned the picada, I would never pay $80,000 for a potato picada. Finally I ended up drinking only water, I was the chosen driver.

It took over an hour to get water to everyone, and when they did deliver water, they put a few bottles on the table for everyone to split, but never brought glasses with ice. Our team ended up helping the wait staff deliver the water, glasses of ice, and the drinks.Our contract included an app, an entree and a dessert. Water, drinks and appetizers took almost 2 hours to be totally delivered, and it was mediocre at best. Some of the food was still frozen in the middle, and most of it was room temperature. At the 2.5 hour mark we had to start prepping to leave with the buses, and we requested that they cancel dessert and take it off our bill. They refused saying that we booked a package and they couldn't discount any of the food, but would remove the service charge.For an hour we spoke to Marcela, who brought in Rafael, and then another woman came over and also started arguing with us. After an hour of them changing what they were going to do for us, it was no longer worth the effort so we paid for all of the food, including food that was never delivered, and 50% of the service charge.Ultimately, when we called to book a big group for dinner and a show they should have told us they are not set up to handle it. I hate that they took the incompetency of management out of the server's tips.This was a truly terrible experience.

Colleen Martinez: So fun! We went to hear Ray sing... we had some yummy sliders and drinks. The atmosphere is so chill and you can actually hear each other talk! And the seating is actually comfortable... I hard thing to find in Cartagena. We'll be back!!

Bernell King: Lovely, really nice mellow place to relax, chill, and hear jazz fusion, guitarists, and piano. We went twice, two nights in a row. You almost forget you're in Cartagena. The food is Japanese fusion and OK. There's a very limited selection of only 1 type of red wine by the glass. It's best for the music and vibe.

Agha Khan: Went here by accident today and am glad we did. They had live music. Nice vibe inside. We ordered tuna pizza (sounds interesting) and sushi. The food was fresh and taste was on point. Nice place to sit back and relax.
