When we arrived we had an issue with our hotel room door not securing, and after we notified the front desk they sent someone and it was fixed immediately. We will definitely be staying at the Charleston again. The location was perfect.

Carolina Ardila: I had the misfortune of staying at a hotel in which I was unable to talk with the manager, and also charged me a tax that is only applicable for residents. Furthermore, they refused to accept my passport as proof that I am leaving overseas. It was an unpleasant experience overall and one I would not recommend to anyone looking for accommodation while traveling abroad.The first issue arose when trying to speak with someone in charge about my reservation; there seemed no way of doing this without having direct contact information or being able go through customer service on site. This made it difficult if any issues were encountered during stay because there wasn’t any reliable source available who could help resolve them quickly and efficiently.The second issue came up when checking in; instead of charging me what should have been due according their policy, they added additional taxes meant only for residents - something which should never happen considering that foreign travelers are exempt from such charges! To make matters worse they then refused my passport as valid proof needed upon departure - despite passports being accepted worldwide as standard official identification documents! The card, the booking and the address of the booking are also from overseas.Overall it has been an extremely unsatisfactory experience dealing with this particular hotel's management team and customer service staff alike; both lacked basic understanding about how these situations are usually handled meaning guests can be left feeling confused or frustrated by their policies . As such ,I cannot recommend staying here unless absolutely necessary given all the problems associated with its services . JR
Gethsemanie Acea: Beautiful hotel located in the center of EVERYTHING. The rooms were spacious and clean. Hotel staff was accommodating especially Raphael. He was a charm. I swear everytime we cam back our rooms had been cleaned with fresh linens and when had out personal items put to the side neatly. The breakfast was very good fill of fresh fruit. Nothing beat the roof top pool with a stunning view. Everything about our stay here was nothing short of amazing.
Jenny Smith: We had an incredible time splurging here for our honeymoon! We are usually budget travelers, so ending our trip with some class and luxury was a real treat. :-) The rooftop wading pool was a highlight and provided incredible views of the city and we were able to experience the most precious colorful sunset over the sea on one of the cloudless nights. The breakfast in the morning was also delightful, with so many unique/local whole fruits to choose from (we booked a room where breakfast was included, which was a great choice). Oh and there were fresh flowers everywhere that looked and smelled incredible! Hydrangea, lilacs, orchards - so much beauty everywhere.We stayed in the newer "Republican" part of the hotel - I loved the lavender colored walls and our shower had the best view of the city. We also enjoyed looking/sitting in the more historic colonial part of the hotel. There is so much to soak up throughout the surroundings, and the location is absolutely perfect - near the Old City wall/lookout and walkable to all of the shops and restaurants in the area. If you want to indulge a little bit during your travels, this the perfect spot to do so. :-)
Maridol Cecilia: The hotel has a good location, but when you arrive you go to the bar and the lady in charge had sports and couldn't authorize music. On Thursday we arrived on Friday we went to have breakfast and they told us that they are going to have a drink. I told her a mango juice yes it is sweet I asked for it with water and my husband with milk it was sour and I asked the young man if he could put milk on it to make it better and he said he couldn't, then we wanted to share a hot pot and I asked him if he could put the scrambled eggs on us The bill couldn't be made then and he didn't even bother, he gave us the bill as if nothing or an apology, much less, but we have a very high opinion of Guillermo the bartender and Marcela thank you very much but I would not return to this hotel 🤔Noteworthy details: I would not go back

erika samaniego: The rooms are beautiful. The pool looks so much bigger in the photos, in reality it was small and one family with kids can take all the space of it. However they have a lot of space to sit and sip some drinks at the rooftop. The staff was kind and helpful. We arrived very early and left late in the afternoon and were allowed to remain in the public areas of the hotel and they held our bags while we explored some more of the city.Rooms: Big and cozy, nice view from balcony and great showers.Nearby activities: So many good restaurants and bars within walking distance. Getsemani is about 15-20 mins away walking.

C Woods: Stayed here for 7 days. Rooms are big and comfy. Tile floors so bring your slippers. Bathrooms are nice size. Showers are great. They have nice products in the bathroom. They offer a nicebuffet breakfast in the restaurant but you can also get made to order breakfast. Lobby is nice to kick it and chill but depending on when you go, you might become a buffet for mosquitoes. There is a room next to the outdoor lobby area and it's comfy and a great place to hang out. The rooftop pool is amazing and the views from up there are phenomenal. Pool area is the perfect place to hang out and drink. Internet connection could be spotty at times but wasn't too bad. Front desk was very attentive to any of our needs. Staff was extremely accommodating. Nice hotel to stay at inside the Walled City.

Jordan helped find us reservations and hooked us up with a great walking tour with a local, Aura. Highly recommended. Only thing that I didn't like is they wouldn't heat up my leftovers. ANJLI SHAH: My husband and I stayed at Bastion for 4 nights. It is definitely not a “luxury” hotel for following reasons- as soon as we were allocated a room we realised the air conditioning unit was not working. The workmen did come and sort this out.We then realised our sink was getting clogged up and the water was not draining. This caused a sewage smell in the bathroom. We did let the manager know about this and he assured us it would be dealt with whilst we were sight seeing. Nothing seemed to be sorted. After 2 nights of sleeping in this room and finally making a fuss at reception they did change our room as they said the sink problem could not be sorted. However the second room we were allocated had a broken toilet roll holder, broken tiles on the bathroom floor, the shower wasn't draining quick enough hence was overflowing, the room telephone wasn't working. We did complain to the manager but he didn't seem to be too bothered. The room was definitely not fit to be allocated to a guest.- Breakfast was mediocre for a 'luxury' hotel! There were insects (fruit flies) all over the fresh fruit and the staff didn't seem to be bothered by it.The hotel is in a good location, slightly away from all the hustle and bustle but yet close enough. However I would recommend other hotels in the vicinity which are probably cheaper but have better service and rooms.

The hotel is not ostentatious luxury, very nice to relax in a quiet environment. The staff is very polite and oriented to make things easier. Carmen Morawska: This is such a special hotel. The common areas are beautiful, and it has definitely kept its colonial charm whilst feeling very luxurious.The room was comfortable and well equipped. The only issue is we had a desk semi-blocking the door, so accessing the balcony wasn’t easy. It’s also worth noting that it’s quite noisy at night. Not the hotel’s fault as it’s coming from the street below, but for the rooms that face the road, maybe they could offer earplugs.The shower did not get very hot for very long and the old shower head means the water sort of splatters in weird directions, but it wasn’t terribly inconvenient.The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating.

Our room—#1– was lovely, quiet and peaceful with high ceilings and a large bathroom. The common areas are beautiful and stylish. The rooftop pool was perfect to relax at. But most importantly, the level of service was so good, we felt like we were staying at a private Villa. Every morning, fresh coffee with hot milk was waiting for us before our run. Breakfast, which is included, was delicious. See photos below. For the price, you cannot beat the level of service or room amenities. We highly recommend this 6 room hidden gem. The front office staff are experts of the old town and have amazing recommendations for food and sights. They were extremely helpful in navigating transportation needs. 100% stay here if you are in Cartagena!!!For any event, I highly recommend Angie. She was detail oriented, responsive, and well-connected. She is personable and navigated any request, no matter how last-minute, with care, attention to detail, and grace. She made the entire wedding party feel at home and provided us with service that went above and beyond her role. She truly is an amazing person and fantastic at her job. We were lucky to work with her and would jump at any opportunity to work with her again if the opportunity would arise. Truly and eternally grateful for her work and partnership throughout the planning and execution of our wedding.

Vanessa S: My family and I stayed at Bóvedas de Santa Clara for six nights. Before arriving in Cartagena, I was able to communicate with the staff at the hotel, who arranged airport transportation and tours before my arrival. We were pleasantly greeted when we walked in, and our room was spacious, clean, and smelled delightful. Usually, I don’t particularly appreciate staying at hotels, because I have a germ phobia, but I felt completely comfortable at this boutique hotel. Furthermore, the staff was so personable, kind and helpful. The amenities at the Sofitel, located right down the street are outstanding. The hotel is very close to the wall and to Plaza de Bóvedas. My family and I had a fabulous time and would highly recommend this establishment to anyone planning to visit Cartagena. We plan on staying there again on our next trip.Rooms: We stayed in a duplex room that accommodated six people. We also had a crib for our toddler: two bathrooms and a small kitchenette with a fridge and sink, and basic dishes. I highly recommend this type of accommodation for families traveling with young children.Nearby activities: The hotel is located within walking distance of everything your heart desires within Cartagena. It is also within proximity to get Getsamani, but you would have to get there by taxi. We were able to view the ocean from our room. It is very close to the famous restaurant Cande and the most expensive shopping mall in Cartagena, which used to be a stadium for bullfighting. Another bonus is having a grocery store near by to purchase basic necessities.Safety: We felt secure during our entire stay. Our hotel had a security guard for 24 hours.

Maja Ivanovic: We had an excellent experience at the hotel where we stayed for 3 nights. We would stay longer if there had been vacancy. Form the moment we stepped in until the check-out the staff displayed utmost hospitality and professionalism. They were not only kind and helpful but also very considerate as they have done a great surprise to our 6 year daughter whose birthday coincided with our stay. Baloons, flowers, presents and a cake she received from the Hotel Management. Such a nice gesture. A couple of other things to mention: the breakfast is fabulous. Variety of foods and the service is at the highest level. The pool is remarkably good and the service given at the poolside is excellent. bernard hols: We booked two rooms, one for kids and one for parents. Parents room was great: seaview and very spacious. Room of kids (room#101) was a bit damp (could have been due to heavy rain on 30 April 2023 in Cartagena). The staff at the reception were very helpfull for any need we had. Location is perfect: at the skirt of the old Cartagena town so quiet and minutes walk from the busy parts! And the Sofitel Santa Clara facilities and friendly staff made the experience complete!

Me quede en estes hotel en el mes de mayo, mi madre sufrio un accidente alrededor de la picina y este hotel no cuenta con personal entrenado, ni tienen ningun protocolo para estos casos. Mi mama se callo y perdio el sentido por unos minutos y el salvavidas que estaba cerca me trajo una crema para untarle. Se nota la falta de conocimiento en un accidente asi, nunca fue llamada una ambulancia para inmobilizarlar,me toco levantarla despues de su caida y llevarla al hospital en un taxi. El resultado de la caida fueron 3 costillas fracturadas y una vertebra. Hasta el momento no he escuchado nada de el hotel or de la aseguradora del hotel. Si busca un sitio seguro y con mayor sentido de responsabilidad. no se hospeden en el Hilton de cartagena.

Station für Omelett und frische Säfte.Executive Lounge von 12-20 Uhr geöffnet mit kleinen Snacks, Obst, Limonaden und Kaffeemaschine und durchgehend mit 2 freundlichen Mitarbeitern besetzt. 18-20 Uhr gibt es kleine warme Gerichte, Vorspeisen, Nachspeisen, Bier,Rotwein und Weisswein. Our wedding looked like a fairytale wedding inside this gorgeous colonial house full of history. Monica and her team were very attentive and always ready to help us or answer any questions. We met the owner of the hotel who went above and beyond for us to have the best experience.The rooms are beautiful and unique, the sitting area and patio is very cool and romantic. The decor fits perfectly with the hotel’s colonial theme.I want to highlight the servers, house keepers, bar tenders and the CHEF!!!! They truly went above and beyond to create the best wedding vibe by serving all my guests with a smile and the best customer service Colombia has to offer. Our favorite server was Charles! He was the favorite of our guests and the most charismatic and attentive.The food here is INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!! I have no idea why this restaurant is not on a “best places to eat” in Cartagena but holy cow! The food tasted like a 5 star restaurant! ThomasFRebel: Terrible!! This is NOT a Boutique hotel. It is a restaurant with some rooms. Loud music and restaurant activity until past midnight every night. Our room was in bad shape, e.g. mould, dingy. The hotel pool is right next to the restaurant toiletts. The staff is used to running a tourist eatery, but not a boutique hotel.The website is false advertising. If you are looking for a relaxing stay in Cartagena, do not go to this hotel.
Laura Alcazar Pada: Went to Cartagena for 2 days and stayed here. I loved the hotel, very clean and beautiful. However, the people that work here are not honest. I asked if they had pick up from airport included and they said yes. As I was checking out they told me I had to pay for the transportation, it was 95,000 pesos as a Colombian this is the most I’ve ever payed for a 15 mins taxi. For reference I payed 20,000 pesos on my way back. I wish they would’ve specified that pick up was not a courtesy. Same goes with drinks, if they offer you a drink when you come in you are paying for that too. They also charged me an extra amount when I got there, claiming it was tax that I didn’t payed but I payed the full amount with tax from the booking company. Very dishonest, sad because I really loved my stayed in Cartagena.

loveonblock: If I could give zero stars I would. We went with a large group, over 20 people, and hoped this would be a wonderful experience and sadly it was miserable. Though the courtyard is pretty and the roof is sunny, is was impossible to find staff to get food/drinks and the pool was not cleaned properly. To start off the street noise is unbearable and there seems to be a club across the street that goes late into the evening. Secondly, I stayed in the most expensive room and felt I was in a dark cave. Most of the windows did not open and there was zero light- all the rooms appear to be this way. Then my door broke and I was locked in my room for over 30 minutes and was told my included breakfast ended at 10am and I would have to hurry- I literally couldn't get out of my room. The towels and linens were stained and felt poorly washed. And to make things worse, when I went to check out I paid whatever they said I owed for a few drinks/food I consumed on property- then I did the math for the pesos they charged me and realized that a they wrongly charged me for bringing three female escorts to my room- which never happened- I don't even sleep with women. They had copies of their IDs, not mine, from the evening and told me I was lying. I had to speak to three different people to convince them that I was telling the truth. Had I not inquired about the mysterious charges I would have paid hundreds of dollars. They were not apologetic and did nothing to make these situations right. I would never stay here again.

From the furniture to the level of the shampoo. A very romantic and pleasant hotel for couples, a pleasant and well-kept pool, and a rooftop with an amazing view of the city.We want to come back to Cartagena again just for this hotel.
