Palace of the Inquisition Cartagena Historical Museum: what do users think?
Janin Mei: The museum is very beautiful and informative. I went with a friend who doesn't speak Spanish and for her it was very boring because almost nothing is translated into English. Also, it doesn't take long to explore it- if you speak Spanish I recommend it.
Juan Diego Molina Montoya: The place preserves the nostalgia that only the passage of time can give to a place with so many years reflected on its walls.
Fáber Alexánder Gallego Obando: Nothing to do with the space that was one day. There is no guide service, closed rooms. It doesn't justify paying for what little it offers.
Chris Korpuze: Good little museum with the history of cartagena. Just a few translate in English. Cool to spent a hour their.Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Not sure …More

Hugo Amigo: Know part of history! Religion is the man looking for God. Christianity is the story of a Deus of love that seeks to repay the home. The inquisition is an inferno raised by men who say they act in the name of God. Conheça a Cristo somente, ele é a Porta e o Caminho aos ceus.COMPLAINTIt was usually done anonymously, orally or in writing. It was the process in which the validity of thecomplaint, investigating to see if there were meritsenough to prosecute the defendant.QUALIFICATIONMoment in which the defendant was informed that he waswould initiate a process against him, This occurred in twoforms: Inquisitio Specialeis and the Inquisitio Generalis;in the first, individually the parish priest of thetown of the defendant took the summons to hishome, for the suspect to turn himself in forimprisoned. The second, in the absence of adetermined suspect, consisted of promulgating thecall in a space where there could beheretics, to give themselves up.CITATIONHe wanted the defendant to acknowledge that he wascommitting a crime against faith. The procedurewas in secret and was carried out in the presence of tworeligious, the notary and the inquisitorial judgeINTERROGATIONIf the prisoner did not confess during the interrogation, the procedure wasto the application of torture, under the premise that thetruth extorted through torture is validTORMENTJUDGMENTIt occurred if the prisoner resisted despite the torment and thecourt came to establish guilt.
Mari C: Museu impactante e recomendo pra todos que queiram saber mais sobre os absurdos da inquisição! Eu fui com expectativas baixas, mas valeu MUITO a visita.
Stephanie P. G.: I went on a Sunday in June/2023, the adult ticket is $23,000, there are three floors and it does not have an elevator, so it is an issue to take into account if your health does not allow you to climb stairs. The building has been restored and is beautiful, on the first floor are the exhibitions on the inquisition and human rights, a cool audiovisual recreating what it was like to blame and "prosecute" someone. On the second and third floors, it is related to the history of Cartagena. I like that the people from the museum are betting on showing Cartagena's Afro heritage as well. Recommended, if you have the chance to go, I recommend it.Of course, it would be nice if they could have guides to better complement the tour and tell some tourists that they should not step on or lie down... It would also be cool to have something more interactive with screens showing audiovisuals with oral history, with other people to give their perspectives and reconstruction of certain facts that are usually left out by the political / historical interests of the people.
W: A gloomy place, but with many stories.Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait …More

Carlos Sotelo: Interesting facts about the inquisition are known
Dr. Abby: I love museums. This one was unfortunately the worst maintained one I've visited. I worry about how long some of their artifacts will last. Some exhibits are described in Spanish and English, but most in Spanish only. Overall, I learned a lot about how slavery, the Inquisition, and the fight for independence impacted the area.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …More

carlos alamos: Few original samples. I expected more for such a historic city. Missing to see archive documents or exhibits of old pieces. Only 2 themes. inquisition and slavery
Gian Carlo de Melo: Não vale o ingresso. O museu está cheio de plotagem e poucas obras de verdade. Muita maquete, além de só ter 1 sala climatizada descente. No mais, muito quente.A parte de inquisição é melhor consultar informações on-line.
Miguel Prieto: Very disappointed. First of all, you need to pay to come in and then there is not even a/c. Barely any items on exhibition, just some panels with stories that you can read on any website
Maibeth Mejia: The Palace of the Inquisition is a place that houses all the history that the first settlers of Cartagena lived through. The facilities are poorly cared for, they lack maintenance, the bathrooms are poorly cleaned. It was not a good experience.
Elias Razo: Several rooms were closed and the exhibitions were incomplete. It is an historical building so I think the government should invest more on restore it.

Las Bóvedas: what do users think?
Alberto Alfonso Rojas Restrepo: Nice place to find crafts
erika samaniego: It was kind of chaotic and smelled like urine, the government could preserve it a little better. A lot of cars parked and driving right in front of it, it would be so much nicer if the little street right in front of the structure was a walkable street to make it more tourist friendly. If we decided to walk inside the bóvedas (to avoid the cars) we were faced with people trying to sell us stuff. We just wanted to peacefully walk, admire and take pictures without having to be rude and ignore people or saying “No gracias” every minute. The structures are nice if you already know the history behind it. My boyfriend, who doesn’t really care about history, thought it was boring and dirty. I liked it but could be better preserved.

Javier G. Santos: Mixed feelings. The place is living history. In what is now a souvenir shop, you can see the impacts of English muskets. You sit in watchtowers where Blas de Lezo himself designed the defense of Cartagena and, therefore, access to current Latin America from the English invaders. You can look at the sea from the fort defense quote supposed that today the entire south of that continent is Latin and not just another British colony. There, 2,300 Spaniards broke 24,000 English, assuming the end of the English hegemony of the seas... But... It is so full of stupid tourists, taking pictures in every corner, climbing historic canyons that they are forbidden to climb. .. In short, if you are a lover of history, it is a must. But you have to go at noon, when the horde of tourists is crammed. Otherwise, you feel too sorry for what those brave men gave their lives to defend.

He was canonized as a saint in 1888 by Pope Leo XIII.You can spend a good hour or so touring the church, garden, artwork, and the rooms where Claver lived and worked. Highly recommend a visit if you’re in Cartagena.

Alessio Astolfi: I had the chance to visit the Santuario de San Pedro Claver during a trip to Cartagena, Colombia, some ten years ago, and it was definitely an incredible experience. I am a person who has a great love for history and culture, therefore I was very taken aback by this sanctuary's significant past.In the centre of Cartagena's historic area, the Santuario de San Pedro Claver is a beautifully maintained Jesuit church and convent from the 17th century. It bears the name of Saint Peter Claver, a Jesuit priest of Spanish descent who dedicated his life to assisting slaves who were taken from Africa to Cartagena. The sanctuary provided these slaves with food, shelter, and medical attention while acting as a haven for them during a trying moment in history. It was a significant symbol of compassion and hope. The Santuario de San Pedro Claver's architecture is extremely stunning. The facade's exquisite detailing and elaborate designs are evidence of the architects' and artisans' expertise and craftsmanship. The sanctuary's interior is as breathtaking, featuring magnificent murals, pieces of art, and sculptures that depict Saint Peter Claver and his contributions to humankind. The opportunity to view Saint Peter Claver's relics, which are stored in a small room inside the sanctuary, was one of the pleasures of my trip. The saint's skull and bones are among the relics, which serve as a potent reminder of the sacrifices he made during his life and the influence he had on countless others.Overall, anyone with an interest in history, culture, or spirituality should definitely pay a visit to the Santuario de San Pedro Claver. Everyone who visits will undoubtedly have a lasting impression of this absolutely exceptional and inspirational location.

Laelia Milleri Photography: Check the opening time before you go. On the day when we were there the church was closed until the evening, so unfortunately I didn't get to see it inside. Enjoyed watching the busy and lively area surrounding it.
TheFABYMARC: Excellent place to listen to the Eucharist, it is super fresh, spacious and I love the preaching of the priest, apart from its architecture it is worth admiring, I like the mass at 12, since afterward I can have a coffee and walk the streets of the historic center, they are a bit empty at that time
Carlos Hernández: Historic site of the walled city in Cartagena de Indias, with excellent cafes and restaurants around it
Kelly Cabrera: Beautiful
harold david gil muñoz: It is a good place to visit in Cartagena
Gabriel Garcés: Good experience for religious tourism. Rest the remains of San Pedro Claver. It also has a museum from the colonial era.
